I just hit 3500 miles in a Limited. Overall mpg is at 37.9, with about 60-70% freeway miles. It helps I drive on the predominately flat north Texas roads.
Glad to see that! Yeah, MPGs have to be calculated over at least 3-4 fill ups. We have a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid and we average 42.8mpg at the pump over 43,500 miles.
We are looking at one of these. I would definitely go with a 19" wheel, like on the XLE, for winter driving. Great video. We live near your proving grounds so its nice to see familiar areas where we drive.

The car doesn't become cheaper to buy or cheaper to maintain/own if you decide not to pay this fee. The way this works in a sane environment is, if you want to use the autonomous driving mode, you don't turn it on. This is JUST as insane as BMW's plan to charge a fee for using the heated seats and it should be dealt with the same way. Disdain and an intense pressure on the manufacturers to keep their grubby, greedy fingers our of our wallets with subscription fees after we've bought the car.
The Toyota Crown Signia is a handsome vehicle. I noticed how well it tracks during your freeway driving. Your left arm was resting and your hand never moved. Very impressive on how easily it handled that small amount of snow in Normal drive mode.
I see you really like this car. And tell you what? When I visited the Toyota car dealer to pick up my parts order, this car caught my eye, and when I checked the details, I understood your feelings. What a nice piece of engineering.
This is the perfect car for my retired parents that like to go to national parks, never go off-road except some forest service roads, and stay at hotels all the time. If you even offroad and have a $50k budget you’re looking at the 4R.
I would consider this, but if they had a hybrid max version, it would probably be at the top of my list for the next vehicle if the room is enough for my needs.
Ryan, One year ago it was a very pleasant surprise to learn the Crown Signia wagon was coming to this continent. As I understand it, Toyota has set modest annual sales goals for the Signia in the generally wagon-averse US market. Up here in our wagon-friendly nation, the brains trust running Toyota Canada has seriously undermined the Signia's prospects by refusing to offer the more affordable XLE. 🤨
You are absolutely right about that, the Signias certainly aren't flying off the dealerships lots! I purchased a 2024 Venza instead. I think Toyota makes more profit selling the made in Canada RAV4 and are steering customers that way, but they are also pushing them to other manufacturers.
I own the XLE version of this car; plan on giving it to one of my daughters sometime next year. Quite comfortable. Excellent gas mileage. Weak engine. I don't have a big moonroof (didn't want one) and have 19 inch tires (don't like big wheels, small tires). I would have liked a heads up display. Quite a good vehicle overall, albeit on the pricey side.
The most effective strategy for starting on any slippery surface is to minimize wheel spin by feathering the throttle. Replacing the tires with dedicated snow tires or even Michelin Cross Climate 2's would also dramatically enhance traction. If I was looking for an offload capable vehicle this wouldn't be a suitable choice but for practical comfortable on road vehicle this has a lot to offer. The limited trim doesn't seem to be worth the extra cost.
It seems ironic that if it's a wagon, like the Subaru, the Toyota, or the Volvo, then it is not an American car. It looks like Toyota has put considerable effort in trying to make this Crown Signature work for the American market.

Ryan, in the thumbnail it looks like you are searching for a winch point or a tree to strap to because the Crown Signpost can't make it up the snowy path.
25:00 it's funny, I have a 2wd hybrid RAV4 and I have always found the Tc a bit mellow. I have been into some situations where a wheel was spinning and was not capable of stopping it let alone move power to the other one :(
I really like the Traffic Jam assist on my Prius, but I won't be purchasing the access for it after the trial is over. I would only need it 3-4 times per year, so it's not worth paying for. Toyota sort of pissed me off with this obvious cheapskate money grab.
You are very skilled and knowledgeable about cars, the average driver just wants to get in a car and drive, no traction control off etc. this car and its awd system just works and you do not think about it, just press the gas and go. That is what Toyota was going for it and it works.
Yea i dont know why ppl ask for that, theres a vehicle for that already. Buyers dont go “man i wish this RX or NX was off road” thats not the point of the vehicle..
I test drove a XLE about a month ago. Liked it, I put it up against the Mazda CX-50 Turbo and the CX-50 Hybrid. Long story short - the Signia to me was super comfy. I liked it. I liked the fact that the XLE trim was about dead on what I wanted in a car - no sunroof, all the comfort features, good MPG and so on. Im just not sold on the looks and well the Signia is a bit out of my budget. A used CX-50 Turbo is the compromise that Ill end up making.
Appreciate your road trip reviews. Thank you for providing the MPG for going over the pass. What was the total miles you drove coming and going and your mpg? If the price was the same and the MPG the same... for a daily driver, road trip car, with occasional forays on typical forest service roads in WA state, which you buy Subaru Outback or Toy Crown S?

American sales ended in 2015. We had a 2016 in Canada because the Venza was as popular as the Highlander. Who had a 2017?
