Definitely not using beginner double-bass pedals (Pearl Demon Direct Drive) but I agree with ya 100%! He could easily perform the same song on cheap double bass pedals. Excellent drummer!
Awesome playing! I think this is the first time I see a pro player with bottom line cymbals. Someone please get this dude an endorsement! He deserves it!!!
Abeer Haroon Really? No, shit... And myself complaining about how did I break a couple of B8's. The first one used to be 16", now is 12" and the second one used to be 18", now is 14".
Just cause you play lesser quality cymbals doesnt make you less of a drummer. Gotta work with what you got, no matter what it is you do. I see your point tho :) this dude kills
Guys let's get this out of the way since it seems to be the only thing you are all focusing on. It isn't his kit. That's why there is two bass drums, the owner of the kit uses two single pedals, Philippe uses a double pedal. That's also why he is playing on a smaller kit than you might usually see him playing, it isn't his. It's common to share kits at a live gig. Now, can you all please start focusing on the incredible drumming? Thanks.
I thought that was common knowledge if you're into metal and atleast have gone to a few concerts. Not that it matters anyway, it's not like there is any difference in skill playing double pedals vs double bass drums with single pedals. If you can do one you can do the other.
I was more freaked out by the brass meinl hcs garbage. hes a great drummer and the vid quality is amazing. but throw those trash childrens toy cymbals away. Take them from him.
BW Drums why so defensive about him not on his personal kit? Yes Professional artist prefer thier personal gear, but can play on any gear that's setup correctly. If everyone don't understand that, well, it's not for them to understand. He sounded on point to me, and Im over 20 years into the international language myself. Cheers. D
With that great stringwork it is easy to forget that Beyond Creation has a top class drummer as well. Such a quality band, even my parents get silent and listen in awe when i am spinning one of their albums.
It's real. Especially my dad is really interested in the craftsmanship of extreme music. He is a jazz, blues and swing fan and thus really appreciates the death metal heavy with blues influences (basically everything that can be labelled oldschool death metal) and of course complex and interesting song structures. Drumming though often gets a bad verdict as it is too boring at times (in this case it was the rectal smegma album "gnork"). I once was alone at home listening to Krisiun - The great execution album as loud as i could and didn't realize that he got home sooner than expected. When i went downstairs and realized i apologized and told him he should have said something so i would turn down the volume. His response was that the really enjoyed it, really heavy with blues as he said and it was just a bummer that the distance and the fact that a staircase and several rooms in the house in between distorted the sound. He also bought me butchered at birth from Cannibal Corpse during a business trip New York because that album is completely forbidden here in Germany. Mind you an almost 60 years old businessguy in a suit and tie walking into a metal store asking for that album "for my 15 year old son, back home the album is censored and not available."
Love that Paiste 502 China. I'm playing one of those since 2003 or 2004. When I recorded a demo with my old band back in the day the Engineering Guy said that the cymbal sounds like Darth Vader taking a deep breath. :D
Finally!!! Someone else noticed that too. I know the video is focused on the drummer, but WOW!!! What other band has not one, but both guitarist and the bassist playing on guitars without a headstock. I don't know about anyone else, but I can NOT stand guitars without a headstock. Just my opinion. It just doesn't feel right, nor does it look right. I will say this though, it's a smart way to go when playing smaller venues. It's not fun getting hit with the headstock when you're trying to play.
Being in a metal band that tours a lot and does many shows it is damn hard to afford good cymbals as they break all the time, so sometimes it's just better to get cheap ones for tour
It's not his kit. It's most probably a rent kit since bringing a big expensive kit with loads of cymbals isn't ideal for touring around Europe with other bands. His actual kit is stacked with top-end sabian cymbals.
Omg... dudes, is it so hard to understand? 1. Everyday he's playing on twin pedals so swaping to singles in such extreme and precise music is pointless. He doesn't use second bass drum because 2 other bands played this evening on the same drum kit. It's not a problem for him to just leave it as it is, but it is a problem when you play 30 minute gig and you have to move drums and check if they are properly set up each time band changes. 2. This band is from Canada. Propably costs of transporting his own cymbals was way too expensive, so I guess he just bought some cheap ones in Europe or just borrowed them from other guy. Check his live prerformances from USA or Canada so you can notice how he owns his Sabian cymbals ;) 3. This band is not so well-known, so I guess they do not earn enough money to buy a new set of cymbals for each tour. Awesome playing, I'm a huge fan of Beyond Creation for few years already and can't wait until I see them in Poznan, Poland on 23rd of October this year
these are the same people that dont gig or play out much at all for that matter. they still think their 49 piece 1987 Morbid Angel replica kit will be practical for the 10 min turn over between bands 35 min sets at Joeys MegaMetal Palace in Jersey.
BLASPHEMY!!! So many guitars without a headstock. I know it's convenient when playing smaller shows, but very odd to see so many choose to play them in one band.
This is excellent but why does he only have half of his kit? Haha he does so good for what he has. Usually he plays on something twice or even three times this size... incredible drummer.
I can’t get into this. I need something evil and somewhat intimidating in my metal. This is about as scary as Blind Melon. Give me Incantation or Dead Congregation over this any day.
Ayye! You're right!. My words were not spoken in vein though. Check out some of his practice videos. I'm 100% sure he practices without em. Some videos he doesn't even use mics
Glenn Vitale I've followed Phillipe for some time now, I've seen those videos yes. He's amazing! But for any band purpose it makes sense for him to trigger his kick. Definitely not easy for the kick to cut through an 8-stringer and a 7-stringer plus a fretless bass in the mix lol
He's been in the band for seven years. Other dude was in it for like four years or some shit. Opinions are fun and all but damn man Philippe is the standard for them.
I don't like the fact of setting up a double bass set up, when you're using a slave pedal on a single bass drum. I've seen a bunch of dudes including jordison do this. It could be for whatever reason, tuning, sound problems, sharing kits etc. It's just totally lame and takes away from the music essence. The way I see this is like false advertising
Nellyzo clinkz As I already said: I only play with one bass drum usually. On that tour, Rivers of nihil were playing before us, and after us was Revocation (both drummers were using double BD except me). so we just though it was better to keep the extra bass drum on stage to save time on changeovers.
Have you ever heard of using someone's kit on a gig? ;) I bet Boucher uses single bass drum with twin pedals and he preferred to play on his own hardware. But all of the the bands had used the same kit so the second bass drum waits for another drummer... Why should he switch the pedals from right foot to left then?
Such an incredible, iconic drummer that he can make a beginner kit and cymbals sound amazing. \m/
Definitely not using beginner double-bass pedals (Pearl Demon Direct Drive) but I agree with ya 100%! He could easily perform the same song on cheap double bass pedals. Excellent drummer!
Drumkit is ok... It's the cymbals that suck!
Wow their sound live is fucking spot on with the sound off the album fucking amazing. Very talented band.
Awesome playing! I think this is the first time I see a pro player with bottom line cymbals. Someone please get this dude an endorsement! He deserves it!!!
gp19 Drummer from Fallujah played B8's the longest time hehw
Abeer Haroon Really? No, shit...
And myself complaining about how did I break a couple of B8's. The first one used to be 16", now is 12" and the second one used to be 18", now is 14".
Just cause you play lesser quality cymbals doesnt make you less of a drummer. Gotta work with what you got, no matter what it is you do. I see your point tho :) this dude kills
He's got some demon drives, maybe that's why he can't afford new cymbals haha!
He actually got endorsed by Paiste recently!
Guys let's get this out of the way since it seems to be the only thing you are all focusing on. It isn't his kit. That's why there is two bass drums, the owner of the kit uses two single pedals, Philippe uses a double pedal. @BW Drums Its not "incredible drumming" it's called magnificent art :)
I was more freaked out by the brass meinl hcs garbage. hes a great drummer and the vid quality is amazing. but throw those trash childrens toy cymbals away. Take them from him.

I don't give a fuck if he's playing on buckets in traffic...he's better than my old ass hopes to be....
that bass solo gives me chills every fucking time unworldly and beautiful
With that great stringwork it is easy to forget that Beyond Creation has a top class drummer as well. Such a quality band, even my parents get silent and listen in awe when i am spinning one of their albums.
Gor gasm The thing with your parents - for real or just a joke ?! ;D
It's real. Especially my dad is really interested in the craftsmanship of extreme music. Gor gasm ßw
great band, listen to them almost everyday
I saw these guys here in East coast Canada. Amazing talent, one of the guitarist showed my his strandberg.
i love the snare sound!!
What an amazingly tight performance by all of them! Sounds incredible! Just like the album track! Awesome band
Outstanding performance
He's one of my favorite drummers
I'm going to check this band!
Yup. I was just thinking the same. A mix of Death, some Opeth, a hint of Neuraxis, I´m sold.
Great performance!
Love that Paiste 502 China. I'm playing one of those since 2003 or 2004. When I recorded a demo with my old band back in the day the Engineering Guy said that the cymbal sounds like Darth Vader taking a deep breath. :D
Wow Wow ! Best performance ! This was a super song
Wow awesome 👏🏼👌🏼🤘🏼
AMAZING MIRACLE
Even the camera man cant contain the metal 7:03
Beyond Creation's drummer is god-tier.
perfect
incredible.
This is utterly ridiculous. And i love it.
Super!
omg i wish i was there
Amazing double kick technique at work here.
It spins me out how guys can blast so well with their snare at this angle .
I can’t get the swing or anything
The headless band.
Finally!!! Someone else noticed that too. I know the video is focused on the drummer, but WOW!!! Fucking awesome drumming!!

There must be a cam on the bass player too.
This is Drum Cam Bro hahahah
the drummer > the kit
Wow \m/
4:41 - 6:38 For couples in love.
Holy fuck. I turned the upside down '666' into the first 1,000 like. Hell yeah!
why is he not using a single pedal on each bass drum?
great playing :D
For audio engineering purposes.
como se llama el baterista que grabó el primer disco de Beyond Creation? Ese era jodidamente bueno!
Guyot Begin-Benoit
Hey this song on the moment 4.38 its so similar to the necropole on the moment 23.10 necropole unleashed death demo
Why does he have a second bass drum if he only uses one (with double pedal)? For aesthetic purposes?
Exactly.
Why the second bass drum
why double kick if theres double pedal from single kick?
WAIT! Who's giving the time?
Meinl MCS hihat ?
Vinicius Mudinho and ride...seems like He doesnt earn that much Money with his music
Being in a metal band that tours a lot and does many shows it is damn hard to afford good cymbals as they break all the time, so sometimes it's just better to get cheap ones for tour
especially because you wont really be able to tell the difference with live sound
Those cymbals are not his.
It's not his kit. It's most probably a rent kit since bringing a big expensive kit with loads of cymbals isn't ideal for touring around Europe with other bands. His actual kit is stacked with top-end sabian cymbals.
Seems to me that BC suffer the same fate Brutality did in the Florida-scene back in the day. Overlooked.
🥁🥁🥁❤❤❤\M/
jai est vue en show live a rimous.christ de band de fiou.nice drummer.
Yamaha recording custom?
Damn John Lennon shreds on drums
Omg... dudes, is it so hard to understand?

Didn't he have a much larger setup (more cymbals)?
DrummingEvil
yes he uses sabian i dont think this is his set ive seen guy share kits just to save time on set up
Jazz Drummers: 30$ pedal, 2000 $ cymbals
Metal Drummers: 2000$ pedals, 30$ cymbals
was the drummer the only 1 to shower and change after the gym ? Damn fine music though
What's a shampo.drummer?
I find it interesting why he chooses to use brass cymbals (Meinl HCS) instead of some higher end cymbals.
That's probably a borrowed kit.
BLASPHEMY!!! So many guitars without a headstock. I know it's convenient when playing smaller shows, but very odd to see so many choose to play them in one band.
and what is wrong with headless guitars? They play strandberg guitars and all of them are made without the heads.
Cymbals.?
How to play with 5 cymbals by Phillipe
This is excellent but why does he only have half of his kit? Haha he does so good for what he has. Usually he plays on something twice or even three times this size... incredible drummer.
THIS GUY NEEDS AN ENDORSEMENT RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!
the drummer should get most of those cashes 😁
If you ever feel useless in life, just remember this kit has a left bass drum....
he looks like ken beddene hahaha
Понтовая-без понтовая вторая бочка ;(зачем?,,,Всё равно,мои любимчики,одни из лучших!!!
😴😴😴
HSC??? WTF?
lol
I can’t get into this. I need something evil and somewhat intimidating in my metal. This is about as scary as Blind Melon. Give me Incantation or Dead Congregation over this any day.
I spy someone not metal...
What a weird comment.
Poor guy is using rental drums. He normally uses a way sicker drumset
My fuckin boy Philip doesn't need any fuckboy triggers.
Glenn Vitale what are you talking about? His kick is triggered in this.
Rishabh Mansur it has a kick mic but no trigger I'm pretty sure. It does not sound like triggers.
Glenn Vitale it's right there on the top part of the kick drum's hoop man
Ayye! You're right!.
My words were not spoken in vein though. Check out some of his practice videos. I'm 100% sure he practices without em. Some videos he doesn't even use mics

i dont get y pros dont use pro gear
ik it realy is about practice and skills
but at this level you deserve yourself to get pro gear just cause
not as good as the previous drummer
He's been in the band for seven years. Other dude was in it for like four years or some shit. Opinions are fun and all but damn man Philippe is the standard for them.
Gay
U r
What a shame have two bass drums and use one only.
Salvador Diaz Same thing answered a few comments above
Salvador Diaz Dumb ass
what is point of having double bass set when you only playing a single drum. just waste of stage and storage space.
I couldn't imagine being that dumb. Ouch.
I don't get it..he has 2 bass yet he uses double pedal..

On that tour, Rivers of nihil were playing before us, and after us was Revocation (both drummers were using double BD except me). so we just though it was better to keep the extra bass drum on stage to save time on changeovers.
Philippe Boucher ohh i see.. good to know.. btw you're a great band..
I can't understand using a bass drum without phalam slam, and using as a fake bass drums one with them. It's like trolling yourself
Have you ever heard of using someone's kit on a gig? ;) I bet Boucher uses single bass drum with twin pedals and he preferred to play on his own hardware. But all of the the bands had used the same kit so the second bass drum waits for another drummer... Why should he switch the pedals from right foot to left then?
nice hair :v
