How in the world Does Jeff only have 10.4k subs? He takes an hour of his time, goes live answers questions from the stream. He is a fantastic teacher as well. Show him love, guys!!
Thank you, Jeff, for taking the time to share your insights and knowledge with us. It is more than appreciated. Keep up the good work. I Went ahead and put my money where my mouth is and purchased a few of your courses-rock on, Brother.

Hi Jeff hope you're faring well my friend. As always I'm way behind ya'll but really thrilled with this particular episode of Brooklyn Lockdown with your dead on look at one of the greatest British Blues\Rock masters Jimmy Page !!! lifelong fan of his & his British fellow guitar greats like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Jeff Beck & Paul Kossoff & you've really honed in on some really notable aspects of Jimmy Pages playing DNA an absolutely terrific job you've done with the backing track & the solo you created for it loaded with Page-isms !!! you've got a great Les Paul there with tone for days to go with your magic hands !!! One of the things that I feel sets him apart from his contemporaries is his masterful way of orchestrating & arrangements of guitar tracks & his sheer compositional sense as a guitarist evidenced by his breathtaking compositions like the Rain Song & Kashmir just to name a couple{ we could go on for days!!} Thank you so much for your insights & material you've presented here great work !!! noting your interest in the rocket launch I'm actually a keen enthusiastic amateur Astrophysicist lol yeah we're out there & subjects like space\time Black Holes & string theory fascinate me & one of my big heroes outside of music is the noted Physicist Mr Brian Greene !! All the best Jeff take care see you down the road !! sincerely Chris.

Thanks for this Jeff. After weeks of memorizing scales it's nice to see it in application! Especially liked the way you pointed out the repeating lines.

Thanks Tom. So glad to hear that. I wanted to break it up! I think I’ll do one on repeating licks.

I think the Cheap Trick lick you’re referring to is from Ain’t That a Shame (live album). Love your taste in guitar-driven rhythm and blues, all things Led Zep, etc. I’d guess we’re close to the same age, so that would explain our similar influences. Great channel!

    • @JeffMcErlain

YES!!! That’s it! So, we are both 31? 😉 Thanks for the kind words!

Was just gonna say, I’m late to the party, but yeah, Rick Nielsen used that lick on Ain’t That a Shame from the import album Live at Budokan, I remember skipping school in 9th grade (1978) to go buy the import when it was released….

Couldn't be there live, but just opened and randomly jumped to 20:30. "What do you know guys? A7, because we're on A7". Even if Jeff couldn't play, it would be a decent lesson. But, as usual, he's knocking it out of the park. Clarity, authenticity, knowledge. Don't want you to get a swelled head, bro, but I'm enjoying lockdown (Brooklyn Lockdown, anyway) a lot more cause of what you're doing here. Good stuff!

The course on Truefire is one of my faves. It’s awesome. I have watched it over and over and I am beginning to understand the meaning, and intervallic movement (tweak the third!) not just the fingerings. Jeff continues to inspire me

Space launch or the blues? Picked launch (it's been 10 years), it got canceled, and now I have the blues. :) My favorite TrueFire instructor. Keep up the great work Jeff

I've been a gigging bassist for a couple of decades, now really focusing on guitar ( All of Jeff's Truefire lessons are fantastic ). One thing I've noticed about meeting and jamming with guitarists. The ones that go out of there way to dis Jimmy Page are always asshats and are Not the kind of people I want to make music with. It seems to be the One constant. So much that I now use it as a litmus test....
Almost as bad as the keyboardist I met who said of the Beatles, "yeah, I guess they wrote some OK songs". NEXT!

Players teaching riffs is like an architect teaching how to lay bricks.
I know that teaching language really messes with your own writing.

I DONT THINK JIMMY PAGES SLOPPY PLAYING WAS SO MUCH A MISTAKE! HE WAS A STUDIO GUY FIRST, AND WAS ALL ABOUT TONE AFTERWARDS...WANTED THE GUITAR TO SOUND LIKE A VIOLIN, HAD PPL SORT OUT OVERDRIVES B4 ANYONE KNEW WHAT THEY WERE! THAT SAID, HE WAS TRYING TO ACHEIVE AND CREATE A NEW GENRE OF MUSIC! WHICH WAS A FILTHY DIRTY BLUESY ELECTRIC, DISSONENT SOUND! THEREFORE, I THINK HE GOT SO SICK OF MAKING BRITISH POP AND SKIFFLE MUSIC AS A SESSION GUY, IN ORDER TO GET WHAT WAS PLAYING IN HIS HEAD HE HAF TO SACRIFICE TECHNIQUE SOMETIMES, WHICH WAS DEFINITLY ON PURPOSE....THE MAN PLAYED ON COUNTLESS HITS BY 17 YRS OLD...ID BET HE WANTED TO SOMETIMES PLAY WITH DISTIRTED TONE AND TECHNIQUE! I SAW HIM DO AN ACOUSTIC JOB ON ONE OF THOSE CLASSIC ZEPPLIN TUNES AND IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD AS FAR AS THEORY HIS TECHNIQUE WAS PERFECT! SO IT WAS ALL FOR A CERTAIN SOUND IN HIS HEAD!

TO SAY IT IN A DIFFERENT WAY! THERE ARE MICHALANGELOS AND THEN THERES PICASSO! HE WAS TRYING TO ACHEIVE AN ABSTRACT SOUND AND DID!
