Grapevine Texas Vintage Railroad

Take a ride with us on the Grapevine Texas Vintage Railroad as we depart Main Street in Grapevine, TX and arrive at the Stockyards in Fort Worth. The Vintage Railroad offers different excursion routes, and three different classes of tickets. Rumor has it that they are currently restoring a steam locomotive that will be used in the future for these excursion trains.
As we head out of downtown Grapevine, you will notice an old steam locomotive and baggage car. The baggage car is home to the Lone Star Hi-Railers Model Railroad Association, an O gauge model train club. Of interest is the model of the steam locomotive and baggage car on the layout inside the baggage car! They will let you drive some of the trains in the club, so make sure to check it out if you are in the area.

The route to Fort Worth on the Vintage Railroad is on tracks that are shared with both passenger and freight trains. Often times there is a wait at a couple key places, but we lucked out this day and passed without delay. You get to pass through a train yard and also past a passenger train service facility on the way to the Stockyards.
