Hey thanks mate, great video. Question - with two screws gone through ceramic tile, how much load would you be comfortable being supported by the tiles? I've got a knife rack I'd like to mount on my kitchen splashback and it weighs around 5 kg.
Is it important to find a stud on the other side? I guess depends on how heavy youre going with what youre hanging. Im just wondering if stud finder will work on tile. Anyways great vid again mate
Thanks Bill, love the videos you post. With regard to porcelain tiles, these appear to be a lot harder material than ceramic. Do you use the same technique for ceramic and porcelain tiles? Thanks.
I’m glad you enjoy them. Same way for porcelain and ceramic. The tiles I drilled into were porcelain. You can always drill a smaller pilot hole using a smaller drill bit then use the bigger drill bit to make it easier.
I need to hang a bracket for an above range microwave. I will be drilling one of the holes through a tile into a stud. Do I need to insert a plug through the tile for the screw or just insert the screw directly through the tile into the stud?
You got the best videos. Short and on point
You my man, are the Daniel Ricciardo of DIY! Thank you
Lol 👍
Thank you so much! Just installed our kitchen range hood and not a single tile was cracked with your help!
Thanks Bill, wanted to learn how to drill into my splash back tiles. Got the confidence to do it now with this video. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the video. Attempting to drill drainage holes in my ceramic pots this afternoon. Hoping I won’t crack them. 🤞🏻
You simply should nver use a hammer drill setting on ceramic tiles. Terrible mate

Thanks for the video! Does it matter what's behind the tiles? Brick .. gyprock .. ?

Top stuff mate as usual!
Cheers mate
Can you share the centre punch please ?
Any tips for drilling into porcelin tiles
I really struggled , & kept burning out drill bits
Use a diamond core drill or a glass drill bit, make sure you spray water on them whilst drilling or you’ll burn them out
what did you use to make the first punch.. that thing you hold just like a pen..
Spring loaded center punch 👍
called an automatic centre punch
good stuff mate
Don’t use hammer for tiles
It's a backsplash not a splashback, duh.
It varies according to where you are. It's a splashback in Britain.
Either way is valid, duh!
