the most hilarious thing i've gleaned from his interviews is he's like a normal dude who got famous and hung out with a ton of other famous people, but never saw himself like that. super down to earth and humble, almost awkward. i love it though
Finally years later Page is getting his due. A man 20 years my senior in 97 on the Aftertaste tour was cool enough to sit outside St Andrew Hall in Detroit with Helmet and just chill on the curb and talk to a handfull of us for an hour (Danny Carey having done the same, just three years later) speaks volumes about what kind of people these cats are, we're all musicians speaking the same language nerding out. He is my Hero the way Bowie was to him, and got me to start playing guitar.
Yeah man same here. On the aftertaste tour in Toronto me and a friend were lucky enough to talk to Page after the show. Such a chill dude so humble and down to earth. The band went to a bar after the show and we tagged along, good times.
Helmet is by far one of my favorite bands, it's the one band that in 20 years I never need a break from, I can just always listen to it and it never gets old, it just gets better, Paige's guitar solos are just amazing
Grohl also did the drums for "Song For the Deaf" with QOTSA in the same way. Drums first then played again using practice pads and recorded the cymbals. Such an awesome talent. Great insight with Page in this interview. I saw and heard Helmet for the first time in Melbourne around '94. They were tight, powerful and loud - super impressed and life long fan from that point.
Love rewatching this interview every once in a while and going to a random timestamp. Page talking is always a pleasure to listen too. Great interview!
Thank you for this interview, so glad to see Page, and I love your suicide prevention and awareness advocacy, cheers to that and may Michael and our friends we lost, rest their souls! I believe we will meet with them again. I am 43 now, a long-time guitar player in the guitar and garage, and honest music, so this is a treat. You have a new sub.
I try and get to see them whenever they Tour the UK(last time was the 30th Anniversary Tour pre-Covid)and luckily have a ticket for the Manchester gig in December.Going to be killer.
From where I stood, right down the front,it was loud, intense and riveting to watch those four musicians locked into a groove for nearly two hours.Im 71 but stuck it out against the safety barrier for an hour and three quarters before my back gave up the unequal struggle😊 Next time they come over I hope to be wherever they play.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing! I was fortunate enough to see them play here in Buffalo, NY a few months ago and hung out with Page after. Quality human being, he is. Happy Holidays!@@taxi134-y1q
@Page I'm glad you thought that sound was horrible too, one of my first shows, I was deaf for weeks, Buffalo Alumni Arena UB north Oct 1 1992. But seriously awesome show, crazy pit
Page plays guitar on the Nine Inch Nails track "No, You Don't" from "The Fragile" LP. You can hear Helmet's influence in so many bands eg., Incubus, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Mastodon, even Ghost!
great interview absolutely excellent research and presentation. saw helmet a few years ago on the Betty tour, it was a dream come true, amazing playing in the tiny venue in west hollywood, the viper room, right up front with sweat and spit from the band, absolute blast of a time. hope to see helmet again in the future. hamilton has mentioned elsewhere somewhat-jokingly that he doubts his previous jazz professors have any opinion of his very successful albums, probably true, my jazz professsors sure dont have high opinion of my metal songs. other than that ridiculousness of music school, hamilton is a great inspiration for studying music formally. didnt know hamilton was teaching at school of rock, didnt he mention that at the end, if so, he should know that the school of rock forces students to sign liability "no right to sue us" waivers such that when (WHEN, not IF) students develop ear damage from the school of rock's poor instruction in continually cranking volume of PA's and guitar amps and hitting drums as loud as possible, the corporation is not responsible for the student's permanent ear damage.... highly unethical and harmful practice for a music school or music franchise.
Much appreciated, superblonde! Thank you so much for watching. As a drummer (and concert enthusiast), I can totally understand the importance of wearing ear plugs!
What a great interview. Was very full with a great variety of subjects and stories. (ie...Courtney getting her butt kicked backstage lol). Speaking of Love, I've been inside her original bassists home (her mothers) because my friends mother was good friends with hers. So yeah...Kristen Pfaf of Hole (who unfortunately died of an OD) was from our hometown of Williamsville in case you weren't aware. Anyway I'll digress. Great interview bro. Did I hear you say you are interviewing Ricky Rachtman??? Confirm by PM or here. If so, I might be able to throw some interview content at ya. Awesome stuff Kev!
Steve-O! Thanks for the review, brother. Dig it. I did NOT know about Hole's Kristen Pfaf (RIP) being from our own Williamsville, NY. I have two "Rickys" joining me, soon: Rikki Rockett of Poison, and former MTV's Headbanger's Ball host, Riki Rachtman. Know who just agreed today to appear? Effing Jay Gordon of Orgy. Stay heavy!
What I also appreciate alot about helmet is that they never changed their style....it's soooo frustrating if you a fan of a great band and their style and then the next album everything is completely different and they playing harps and singing like bitches...people don't freak out about a band in the hopes that they will evolve into something else....they listen to that style and sensation because they love it
Aftertaste is my favorite record from Helmet saw them open for Manson during that era all these religious nuts hounded me trying to not make me go in the venue lol

Helmet was one the the greatest heavy bands of the 90s severely underrated
Great interview. I'm a huge Helmet fan. It's amazing to hear all of Page's stories.

Great stuff. Finally an interviewer that doesn’t talk about themselves over the guest and let’s them speak!
Thanks for watching, Justin!
Amazing Interview! PAGE is a hero and wish him nothing but the best. Helmets music has carried me through some tough times and will always be a fan!!

Excellent job. You did not talk over him which I find too often in interviews on the internet. Keep up the good work, subscribed!
Thanks for the kind words, and subscription! Was just in Severna Park, MD, visiting a buddy.

INCREDIBLE Interview! Thank you so much for posting this ... great job. I loved hearing Page's Tour Stories. "SINATRA" is a Masterpiece... HELMET!
had the pleasure of meeting the band, and they are all youd hoped they'd be, just geeks about playing good music.
Thank you so much, REZNAP. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
I love that page mentioned Dari mart .. it's a local convenience store chain around western oregon... I live in eugene and we have them all over..lol
Page is a treasure.

Awesome interview dude. Very well spoken and thought out questions.
Ah, a fellow drummer. Thank you, Mike!

I might be wrong but i believe Page gifted Daniel Johns his first PRS wayy back in the day. Wish id of caught this live.

Oh wow, always thought that song was special, the guitars are so voicelike that I hear words in them! nin might has introduced me to helmet!

Helmet & Ministry play Riverworks on October 8th. See you there!
Great guitarist. Saw him live with Bowie and he was superb.
Where and when was this?
@@iasknoonewithkevin Think it was the "Hours" tour. London 1999 ? Same band that did the famous Paris gig the same month I think.
Great interview, Kevin!
Ah, Beau. Thank you!

This is awesome.... Thanks for posting
Cheers, Skyman. Thanks for watching!
no one has brought jazz noise into metal the way he managed, it's not jazz-metal, it's just freed up of normal metal business
It's the result of his classical training. It's unexpected, but it works.
Such a great and honest guy
Ya, Page too : )
Thank you, twin brother.
LOVE YOU PAGE !
This is amazing!
Right on, Eric! Thanks!

Lost my brother to suicide. He played Meantime over and over and over. Loved Helmet just like me. Great interview
Thank you for sharing, Jack. May your brother live forever. #StopSuicide
This seemed like a poorly planned and researched interview that somehow turned out amazing.
Thanks for watching, Spak!
Great job homie.
Thank you, fellow nerd!
What Los Angeles radio station did Page mention? He said it fast and tried to google it and couldn't find it...
I'm betting it's an acronym
The NIN song Page is on is No, You Don't
The Jesus Lizard were something else
Another great interview! Joe Rogan 2.0
Love you, twin brother.
Betty is one of the best front to back albums of the 90's. STP in a Helmet reference??? Dude....go slap yourself..... now!!
Music creates a feeling, wouldn't you agree?
