90's was best era for eastenders man. steve/phil and grant on top form. janine being evil and sharon looking kinda hot. I dont watch it anymore but I do still like it. It didnt need to be on so much and the storylines dragged on, but at its best its good entertainment
A great scene, I seen martin on 22/11/16 at his audience with ,,in runcorn,,,,,,he mentioned when he handed his notice in to the producer in 2002 he was told the door would always be open but when found out he,d signed an itv deal they decided to kill steve owen off
They need to bring Steve Owen back. I'm sure he could have crawled out of the other side of that car before it blew! I enjoyed he and Billy's odd couple.
Bad mistake from Eastenders killing off Steve Owen. Could of been an all time great character. Also, Joe Absolom who plays Mathew was at the time one of the best young actors in Britain. Such a shame EE didn't bring him back. I know he wasn't killed off but it's been 16 years and wasn't a big enough character to bring back now. EE could do with him and Martin Kemp though as a lot of the characters in it now are soooo boring. I mean Shabnam and Kush 😴😴😴
@EastEnders hey do you have the one where phil, den, and dennis all brawled in the club just before phil went on the run (i think it was some time around christmas 2003 or 2004) ? :)
Because the stress of trying to hide the murder and the pills he was using along with drink to try and deal with the guilt had cracked steve up. He was a complete wreck by this point.
Hide Barnes Well, there's talk of Steve coming back, and he's (apparently) dead! Matthew never died, or was even thought dead, tho, so him coming back would be TOTALLY believable! Wonder if he'll be played by Joe Absolom, tho?
But surely if you were fearing for your life you would e looking any sort hope , and well not smelling the smell of petrol would be that hope lol. i watched eastenders last night and noticed that we a similar bit of that story line with jack and he seemed to notice lol.
Fantastic scene. They were both so attractive in their own ways too.
Martin Kemp is superb in this clip. Absolute artist.
That episode was a real cliffhanger. I thought Matthew was going to kill Steve.
this was my favourite when Matthew got revenge on Steve .Matthew got down for murder because of Steve
Was self defence anyway Steve should told truth
Steve Owen got what's coming
Woohoo loved this storyline! Joe Absolom is a fabulous actor x
I remember watching this when I was about ten. Talk about the ultimate revenge!
The final twist in the episode was brilliant.
i know what you mean. wow. Watching these videos makes me feel nostalgic..nostalgia is bittersweet man.
Live for today!
I used to really fancy Matthew in Eastenders.....Old Easties.....good times and so many characters who have no gone... X
Bashing the bishop
I’ve got a crush on him too can’t lie
I love Matthew rose bloody gorgeous and a bad boy
Steve and Matthew storyline was totally homoerotic. I think that is why people found it so captivating - nobody gave a shit about Saskia.
I love the line when Steve says "You shot her?" and Matthew replies "She didn't have an ashtray" xD
This was 1999, maybe 2000. I remember watching it at university.
In 2000 i was 10 and i had a great love for Matthew, sweet sweet Matthew
2:28 cry baby Steve

2:22 Matthew Rose said "I've got nothing left" before Ian Beale.
A great scene, I seen martin on 22/11/16 at his audience with ,,in runcorn,,,,,,he mentioned when he handed his notice in to the producer in 2002 he was told the door would always be open but when found out he,d signed an itv deal they decided to kill steve owen off
He left because he had a brain tumour. So needed time off
I’m just waiting for Steve to break into a Spandau Ballet song
these were the days
Steve Owen had no choice. Saskia tried to strangled him it was self defence.
Didn't have to frame Matthew and have him send him to prison for it though. Now that was a choice.
Good memories of revisiting the storyline after Mel and todays (06/02/2018) episode. These were the big storylines that made EastEnders the best.
Back when Eastenders was worth watching!…load of dross now.
I don't blame Matthew. He was in prison because of Steve. I remember this episode. He caused so much misery
" I can't get this fire on, I can't get this fire on, I can't get this fire on Ohh Ohh
99/00 timeframe sounds about right!
i had the biggest crush on matthew omg
No it wasn't, Saskia came into the show in 1998 and was killed in 1999. This is Mathew's last appearance which was in 2000.
the glory days
as much as Mathew used to freakin annoy me Steve deserved this.
Steve’s a bad guy
is there an upload of the full episode anywhere? this episode was actually quite remarkable @ the time n i'd like to see it again
They need to bring Steve Owen back. I'm sure he could have crawled out of the other side of that car before it blew! I enjoyed he and Billy's odd couple.
The police found his body burnt.

scary man...scary.
Because the stress of trying to hide the murder and the pills he was using along with drink to try and deal with the guilt had cracked steve up. He was a complete wreck by this point.

carlo donofrio I only read it on UA-cam, but as I said in my comment, it would be more believable for MATTHEW to come back!
This was 2000 I think.
i remember this, i also remember what happened next what i always wanted to know is how come steve didnt smell it was not petrol ?
Yea my dad always the pessimist cum realist pointed this out. 😂
You're joking, right??
its reggie kray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But surely if you were fearing for your life you would e looking any sort hope , and well not smelling the smell of petrol would be that hope lol.
i watched eastenders last night and noticed that we a similar bit of that story line with jack and he seemed to notice lol.
Anyone thinks he looks like peter beale, the younger one not steve
Nah
Well now steve own son is in the square it’s time for his return unless Mel son contacts him
Brill acting…
no it wasnt, this was about 1997
no
It's a tiny village where there are deaths and murders every other month and you think it's more realistic??
@Messylin All true.
@london23492 yews I have feb 99
better, more realistic acting in Emmerdale
Steve’s a bad guy
