I was in the Young Marines for 5 years and loved it. I graduated in '06 as a YM/GySgt and now I am an adult volunteer with a unit and I am currently the XO. This program made my life better and I have become a better person for it.

I am proud to be a Young Marine of Liberty Unit in Willow Grove PA. We do not claim the title of Marines instead we claim the title of Young Marines (duh). Since I became a Young Marine I have gotten more respesct from my family and the community I live in. I am proud to be a Young Marine and next year I will be going to college to be a pilot in the Marines. OOHRAH!!
well when i joined it was like 150.00 an 20 every regular payments on the day of every drill an 40 for every campouts...but i first joined in 1999 so i have no idea how much it is now
young naval cadets are pretty hard core. i would know cuz i am one. we are pretty hard core. ya we go to mini boot camp, leardership academy, sail academy and thats it. po3 espinoza
I am in the Westover Young Marines =D but were mainly supporting the USMC and staying out of drugs the Young Marines are mainly about DDR drug demand reduction

NOBODY THUMBS DOWN ME! THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION AND IT MAY BE WRONG! I think the Young Marines have too many regulations stating that they are not real Marines. For example, they aren't allowed to wear the Marine Dress Blues. MCJROTC is allowed to, but they aren't Marines! MJROTC is also allowed to wear MARPAT and Young Marines are not allowed to! Now, I'm in neither organization, so I really can't talk. But in my opinion, if you want something really "Marine-like," find a MCJROTC unit.
ok by readin all the comments ive learned that young marines like to cuss and everybody is sayin young marines of cap or sea cadets are better but we all have the same goal to keep this country safe when we grow up just sayin oh and im a C/AB in civil air patrol
this video upsets me to no end. it's almost as if the anchors are making fun of young marines! what yms do I think is amazing! shrunken camo? child size boots? wtf! this program is for kids 8-high school not 5 year olds! and the guy said theyre taking it seriously, wow! duh they take it seriously!!! show some respect! and one more thing...to the guy that said "these "Young Marines" havent earned shit" we are drilled for a year and then go to a boot camp for 3 weeks and are trained the whole entire time by Ex-Marine Drill Instructors. @DCfreak87 yeah definitely. I think ROTC, Young Marines, and other similar groups are a great idea for child development. But wearing dress blues and stuff when you aren't actually in the Marines, or whatever you wear with the army, is just dumb, even if it is connected with the actual branch.
honestly i use to be a young marine... an i finished off as a staff sargent....an dude on the real I HATED IT!!!! over 10 yrs in the program never got btr for me!! becuz those take tha shit way to seriouse!! an most of the time when they get out they dont even join the real marine corp!! so all tha seriouseness for nothin!!! an also...STOP CALLING IT A JROTC!!!! its not anything like tha its not even related to school....but i do got to admit it has helped now tha i have to deal with jobs an sht
I am a young marine exept we call it Marine Cadets Of America and from what i see in this video, they are crap. We do alot more physical testing and we compete against the sea cadets, the army cadets, and the airforce cadets. Semper Fidelis Marines

Maybe if you had actually put forth an effort in this program you would know how to act as a young adult. You might have even learned how to behave properly on a public website.

we get scholarships also and they also teach us how to spell
