- this year, once again, i was commissioned by my favorite artist of IG Sarah Simon ( @SarahSimon-TheMintGardener ) to make more sketchbooks for her Fall Creative Retreat. just like last year, we agreed to breathe new life to damaged book covers by turning them to drawing journals but with a slight moderation. we decided to use embossing technique to turn boring, plain book covers into something sparkling and unique.
here is a quick video, highlighted my summer long project making sketchbooks for Sarah with the focus on how i used rubber stamps, embossing powder and a heat gun to turn 42 plain book covers into shimmering fauna and flora cover designs.
i hope you like the video and find the process satisfying.. please let me know if you have any questions or comments about this simple yet fascinating technique, i will try my best to answer them.
thank you so much for spending the time.

Gorgeous work. The embossing really does add that little bit extra, making them elegant and unique 😊
Thanks so much! I think so too. 😊
I'm literally obsessed!!!
Wonderful. Another delighted customer I’m sure !
This is adorable, i love the embossing, just takes it to the next level 💜💜
This is beautiful. Also, thank you for introducing me to embossing. 🤔I may start experimenting with that in paintings. ❤
Thank you! Have fun with embossing! Let me know what you think
This is brilliant, I’ve had a clothbound fan binding just sitting without a cover design for over a year because I couldn’t figure out how to decorate it properly. Does this need a sealant or does it stay on its own? Will it chip or flake off over time?
hi there! i normally don't use any sealer and found the embossed images stay very well on cloth/linen cover. although, on more glossy surfaces it tends to rub off over time with heavy usage but if the item is well kept then the image is preserved very well. i hope that helps. 😁
