I wish the Dark Swam arc had been better. The twist that she was never evil was so lame and the "I wiped their memories" to preserve the flashback aspect of the show's formula was so unnecessary. This season should have been an exploration of Emma's darkest impulses as the dark one's power consumed her and what it took to turn away from that power. There were hints of that but it was not well executed.
Emma is the Savior first and foremost. Her magic was naturally light, as she is the product of True Love. Of course she was never evil, it would have gone against her nature

I have to say that I liked this season overall, this scene especially! Though the dark Hook twist ruined it. It would've been better if despite Emma's good intentions, her path slowly spiraled dark like every other Dark One and the others had to pull her back at the end.
I'm confused... if it was Emma's plan all along to destroy the darkness in her and Hook, why didn't the other dark ones know? Aren't they a part of her?
She wiped Hooks memories so the Darkness didnt know that she is acting. And the Darkness true goal is to ressurect all the Dark Ones so the Darkness only using its current inhabitor as a pawn to execute their plan, they influence them only, they dont know all abt them.
They can only influence. Rumple did a lot of movements in direction to Light until this season. If they could know everything, they would stop him as well.
Emma is also pure of heart.... a reasonable explanation is although there is darkness within her...it didnt "go inside her heart" probably just around it...and she never really was dark as for Killian...he may be the 2nd dark one but he got it from Merlin who didnt have "crocodile" skin
Gabriel Louis Pelareja I never understood why Merlin’s name is on Excalibur. Is it because he created it? And Merlin didn’t have dark powers so how come Hook took them from him? And he never was a dark one
Biancamaria Valenti Merlin's name wasnt on Excalibur when Arthur pulled it out from the stone Zelena put Merlin's name on it after Arthur asked her so he can control Merlin...the same spell Merlin used to tether Nimue to the dagger
Zoso didn’t have crocodile skin all the time, all of them could have used a cloaking spell if they wanted to, maybe they got used with they crocodile form and that’s it.
such a missed opportunity to not have written morgana la fey as the first dark one since they were going into arthurian legend.idk why the writers would have prioritized nimue over morgana for the arc since she was such an integral antithesis of arthurian legend. i always felt that this season should have gone a different direction in a lot of the parts and had plot holes that i wished were resolved. this was such a disappointing season especially since it was the most anticipated
100% agree...though I suspect the reason being is that it was French writers who wanted bring about Merlin's "downfall" and while many sources claim this was Morgan Le Fay and that she was his love, I've only ever seen Nimue being used as Merlin's great and tragic love. She's the one mostly known as Merlin's love, while Morgan Le Fay is meant to be Merlin's enemy and rival, though in the original legends their interactions were in the background and he was mostly her mentor whom she adored, appreciated, had a good friendship with, but ultimately used for her own ends of revenge and then basically left him to pursue that revenge. Yeah writing this down, I realize you're right. Morgan would have been a better character to use as the Dark One, especially since she's literally a foil to the Dark Swan.
I remember how I was complaining about this saison last year. But comparing to the 6th one it was a fucking good saison. It was interesting, twisted, creative, dark but yet emotional. It was not perfect but it was very entertaining. All we have today is sort of parody of the show. And we will never see what Rumple really want into getting the power of every dark ones. It was implied poorly and a real missed opportunity, as Lily and Maleficent story is.

I think that while they are IN her head, they don't know everything in her mind. They can only influence her.
