I am very happy to hear they finally released a Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber. Dude was the master Anakin needed and his death set in motion the fall of the chosen one.
Disney announced and finally deliverd.
Man that activation button click is so satisfying. Nice and clicky sounding, almost like clicking a mechanical keyboard key.

I'm not sure if you knew already, but did you see that Legacy sabers are sold in Disney outside of Galaxy's Edge? I was walking in Disney Springs in Disney World and stopped into the Star Wars Trading Post. They had Legacy sabers and extra blades there.
Great review Sir James!!! Yes this saber was surprisingly heavy for me too on the first time I grabbed it out of the box too! It's a fantastic saber though definite recommend for any qui gon fan

Qui-gon was on the same list as Cal Kestis he came in second Anakin Skywalker’s episode two light saber came in third does that mean it could possibly be released soon
I got mine, and boy it is way too heavy and chunky! It is also shorter than my neopixel one. Haven’t made up my mind if I am keeping it yet.
So with these new rechargeable battery sabers, how long does it take to fully charge?
if they made the hilt just a little longer the proportions wouldnt look too bad, also why the big box lolol

but in my opinion, a battery with a special standard
for maintenance is not a very good choice. ㅜㅜ 😭

Tired of all these chunky-ass hilts. Really wish we could get some screen accurate replicas once again. Maybe someday.
Because of the blade connector they designed it's unlikely we are ever going to see any slimmer and accurate designs. It's a problem I predicted since we first saw these. I would like to see a Legacy saber Yoda hilt just for fun. See how monstrously huge it would be.
@@chamoo232 They can do it if they just focus on hilts like ICON and Master Replicas did, without having to house blades as well. They can keep the Legacy sabers going, but make some special editions for serious collectors.
@@BruceColon-BSides Master replicas did amazing things and I so wish they were still around. At least these days we have custom lightsabers that are on par with what they made. When it comes to lightsaber we have a wide range of choices. I have a lot of hilts designed for electronic installs that I still use just for display because many of them come with blade plugs and display pommels without sound holes. It's fun to have a few with electronics but I never felt the need to have all my hilts installed.
its cool that disney makes these, but lets be real that saber looked super thick and sounds cheap much better off getting one from Alibaba for $100 with smooth swing an unlimited colors to choose from.
Overall it's fairly accurate as far as the design cues go. It's a little chonky and the weight (as you've described it) is a bit offputting. The recharge port is nice. Overall, not too shabby. My only wish from these Legacy sabers (and why I don't collect them) is Disney's complete lack of concern regarding the sound. The lack of smooth-swing isn't a dealbreaker for me. The sound is always just sort of... there. No frills whatsoever. No thought. It's a huge gaping hole in the Legacy saber concept that, even for this price point, smacks of a complete lack of concern for the collector. Imagine if Disney put the slightest amount of effort into these sabers to make each of them sound unique (not necessarily screen accurate) and DYNAMIC. By dynamic I mean sound that doesn't simply sit there at one volume and groan, but rather sound with volume, bass and PRESENSE.Just the slightest bit of effort in that regard could really make these things worth it, even for hard-core collectors. At least your review was unique and dynamic, Sir James! Feel better!
Disney went with the cheapest solutions to produce something that look expensive enough for normal people to be excited over. I knew since the very first ones came out that there would be a constant problem with them. They would always look too big. This one may have gone for a rechargeable battery but the size of the blade connector still limit how slim they could make it. I would like to see what the electronic board looks like in those sabers. Disney would still make profit if they got electronics a bit fancier and capable of doing smoothswing equivalent but they don't bother because they know the basic will sell anyway.
@@chamoo232 Exactly. It’s not they can’t do better, they just don’t have too. People will buy. Still wish they’d invest a bit more to make them industry standard.
Qui-gon is def one I want in my collection, I love his hilt design and his character so much…I feel like this design always looks plastic and cheap in photos, but this looks solid.

I'm not sure when you'll do the Dooku Jedi lightsaber review, but I am very much excited to see the video, I'm planning on grabbing the new Jedi Dooku lightsaber when I have a job and this'll be my very first Legacy Lightsaber I'll ever OWN. Great Review by the way, I think they did Qui Gon Lightsaber justice.😁😁
Great review as usual. It looks like they did a really good job on this one and I now wish that I hadn't missed out on the pre-order, I only ordered the Jedi Dooku. I'll probably have to pick one of these up eventually.
Not one review on this mentions if you can replace the battery pack. rechargeable packs eventually lose their capacity to charge so does this just turn into a giant paperweight?
Now that's one I would truly love to own, Qui Gon is my favourite Jedi. I live in Australia though, so no chance I'll be able to get one :(

Why they make these hilts so fat, is beyond me, cause you can use much skinnier hilts with the same hook on the blades as well as have it wired up exactly the same way and it would reduce the weight by a ton

I recently got my obi wan legacy saber, but the blade seems to get stuck when I turn it counter clockwise and pull it. Do you have any tips or tricks for when this happens? If it has even happened to you.
