Time has no meaning in the woods, once you are back its like one never left, and the camping canoing routine continues. Lake of two rivers, pog lake, mew lake all connect , excellent !
Hey Brother! Love these short paddles. I was wondering how you are able to keep the nose down on that empty canoe? It may be my size, but the nose of my canoe rides high even when running it backwards. I have an Old Town Outfitter 146. Keep up the great work!
I actually thought the nose was a bit too high myself. It's alright in calm water, but tends to wander a bit when the wind picks up. Filled with camping gear it's not bad. That canoe is 17 ft. long, and most days I weigh in at just under 160 lbs., so maybe I've got the weight/length ratio just about right.
It seems that you may be correct on the weight/length ratio. I am a rather large fellow (6'5", 375#'s) and I think that I would have to have a viking long boat to keep the nose down. I am considering adding a center seat (slightly off center) to help with that. (We may have spoken about this before) I may just have to add a pad and paddle from my knees, but that's just not comfy.
