In a carrier, you can have one of two play styles... You can farm damage... Or you can support your team with spotting, fighters, and generally be in a good location... Very rarely do the two types of players converge.
The game does not reward for this type of play like helping allies. Moreover, there are other classes that can also play assistants, but they don't, I'm talking about destroyers. Why should CV play support when others play for damage?
The bbs that just kept going in a straight line never used priority sector and immediately damage controlled their fiers were later seen on reddit complaining about carriers

Question. The max level speed with boost is shown to be 242 knots. The max speed in the spec in port shows 214. With a 7.5% speed increase from commander skills that would be 230 knots. How do you then raise the speed up to 242 knots?
This goes to show that damage farming is not equal to teamplay. He was so focused on damage farming the BB's that he didn't help his DD's at all. If he had spotted that Kleber that was moving on his Gearing in smoke the Gearing would have been able to drive off or even kill it and then torp into the ships on that side.
immelmann is not a dd hunter, dude, playstyles as a FDR, as you can see how hard to hit the small dd by that bomb right? also if he not focus on both bbs pushing, so once he lost all the time to kill the Kleber who will def those enemy bbs? also even if he focus Kleber at time the Gearing got hunting, how can you make sure the Gearing wont die?
@@hitori2643 I would say he does not have to hit the DD to be a DD hunter. Just by spotting it will cause the DD to run away giving up position. But that being said despite the rocket planes being AP, they have the shortest delay fire time and are able to reliably damage DD's. Also the torps are very effective against DD's. But again, hunting DD's really hurt your dpm so......

You don't get world record damage by letting your teammates kill anything
