the best way to understand dubai is to simply understand that any man made paradise has a cost. in this case under the pretty buildings and expense is fake grass. yes touch the grass there and see the plastic hoses that feed the artificial soil because you are in the desert. I enjoy my trips to dubai each and every time...I've been a visitor since the late 90’s and watched it grow bigger each visit and yet there is a toll they pay for this lifestyle they sell tourists. the long and unfair working conditions of many who work there whether builders or hotel workers ...this is not to discourage anyone from going or even living there just know that while its lovely to be there it is not real.

I completely agree with your assessment! I have spent some time there, but my husband has spent even more time there and we both thoroughly enjoyed it but also were totally aware of how manufactured everything is. The only time I ever felt relaxed there was on a 45 minute camel ride in the desert. There are only so many shopping malls you can go to. It's also painfully obvious that Dubai wouldn't be what it is without all the poorly paid migrant workers. Most of the "exciting " things to there are things you can do anywhere. I most enjoyed things that were unique to that region of the world- the culture, the desert and the gulf coast

You missed an important point, Dubai is effectively subsidised by Abu Dhabi. Dubai for all its extravaganza, hasn’t been able to break even. For instance, Burj Khalifa has achieved only 75% occupancy. Basically, they have a lot of white elephants presently and it’s unclear if they’ll achieve the concerted goals since Riyadh under MbS is trying to pull of a similar campaign and Qatar just spent 200 billion in hosting the FWC so they could advertise their appeal.

I found this Dubai-hating Indian propaganda detestable.
As someone working nearly all my life in the Middle East I find this video has no knowledge of the region but just hatred towards the UAE.
In the Middle East nationals of all oil producing countries don't have to do the hard work and they employ "guest workers". Most of them are low pay and casual workers. UAE has guest workers no different to Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Kuwait or even Iran. The guest workers have a tough life because under the 45 degree heat they are the people doing excavation work to earn a living. Guest workers also featured in UK where the low pay jobs have been traditional given to immigrants from the Caribbean. UK also once hired people from Indian subcontinent to work its textile industries concentrated in Bradford. The plight of guest workers in developing country like UK have not differed substantially from those in Dubai.
From my own experience the guest workers in Dubai, which is part of UAE, are the happiest because Dubai is westernised and there are more freedom than those working in the interior desert of Saudi Arabia. However I have witnessed , certainly in the early years , the Saudi would spend billions to build palaces for their princes and member of the Royal families. UAE is using its oil wealth to build infrastructure, commercial districts and up market housing for the public good. This employs an enormous amount of guest workers from the nearby regions. As a professional engineer I highly respect Dubai having used its oil wealth wisely to provide livelihood for millions. I dare say people working in every part of UAE are among the happiest workers in the Middle East because the Arabs there traded with the outside wthe earliest and are the most reasonable Arab when comparing with those more restrictive Saudis and Iranians.
Every country has its good and bad points but I doubt India has ever provided employment to international community anywhere as substantial to Dubai. Dubai is full of character with long and winding streets because it was influenced by Britain whereas other part of UAE like Abu Dhabi is planned like America with parallel road wide and straight throughout. I have also worked in India. It is no comparison to Dubai which is clean, spacious, metropolitan, modern, International with people friendly to international travellers.
My speculation of Indian's hostility towards Dubai could have something to do with Hindu suppressing the Muslims and they like to publicly humiliate the Muslims as they often do the same to the Chinese.

However my work did put me in direct contact with all kind of guest workers and their different conditions in different parts of the Middle East.
Foreigners who complain about Dubai should try Saudi Arabia, Iran or even Israel.

      - Is this the Indian media that tell you that it's Indian people, who sell men, women and children into a life of slavery and abuse. How do you think these people got to Dubai in the first place?
      - Is this the Indian media that tell you when Hindu's rape and murder Muslim's, Christian's and Jewish people
      - Is this the Indian media that tell you about the lack of human rights from other countries, but fail to tell you about the horrendous, and unfair Caste System, that keeps people in abject poverty and starvation.
      - Is this the Indian media that tells you how over 75% of their people are starving!
      - Is this the Indian media that tells you of Scam Call Centers that steal life-savings from poor people.
      - Is this the India media that tells you that Indian allow western companies to pay them pennies for a week's work!
*The Indian media is as corrupt as the media in any other country.* They point their finger at other countries, because it's easier than looking at India's problems of poverty and abuse!

This guy did a video by using same “marketing strategy”
The caption says “dark side” and made us watch the video. But the video had all history of dubai and how they shifted the revenue source from oil to tourism.
So where is the dark side here?!
That excellent strategic change by Dubai’s visionary leaders kept Dubai unshaken and marvellous as it is. How is that “dark” ?
About the migrant labour class.. people came here to work their ass off to make money, which they couldn’t do from thier poverty ridden home countries. How is that “slavery” as some idiots commented here?
Ive been living in Dubai for last 5 years and its one of the finest cities to live in.

Everything artificial and the glitters, glories, splendid splendors and all these without the freedom of expression would last till the nature says "I can't bear your exploitations anymore".
Yes, temperature & rise in sea level are the things that Dubai rulers & planners could not arrest with the help of world best technics / technologies that otherwise they may procured with billions, if available.
A city without seeing a movement of people for expressing their expressions( for anything ) cannot be considered as most advanced or enterprising city.
Flourishing business, pleasure & leisure with or without family/ friends, but these alone couldn't be considered as ultimate aim.
After all, life is a floating river and the existence is full of uncertainty, but end would come...
At this moment, I recall late American country song legend, George Jones classic 'A picture of me without you'.🤔

      @eyevorytowermedia  Рік тому

Thank you for the correction. I am apologising every comment in this video regarding the wrong map used. I think this topic needs to be discussed openly. Here is the reality: Every world map template you download on the internet has a portion of Kashmir in Pak territory. Most of the international creators are using world maps that do not have this region in India. Only in India this fight is happening that is why they have considered as disputed. That region is called Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. from Indian ruling side, it is part of India. So technically it is not a wrong map because it is not full declared to either of the countries. I am also from India and get the emotion of 1.4 billion people. Every kid in India has grown up sketching, practicing the full map of India and singing national anthem. Let me know if this needs to be a separate video.
