    You have the only install video I've seen on a hardtop TJ. Ordered in mid-November, still waiting on mine :) Absolutely love the diesel conversion, makes for a mean rig. I went with Gobi over the Garvin just due to the age of TJs at this point. If the day comes where I have to part out my rig, I can sell the Gobi and still have my tub in-tact without a bunch of holes for resale or swap to another chassis. I'm going with the same awning and awning room rather than a rooftop tent that takes up the entire rack -- wish I'd seen your note with the brackets before including them on my Gobi order at 4x the price.

      200+ days since ordering my Gobi. Still no updates. Ordered a Garvin last week.. sigh...

    How are you liking the Gobi rack thus far? Also, your video is much appreciated.

      I'm really happy with it. It just adds a lot of versatility to such a small vehicle. Even being able to stand on it has it's uses. Only issue is that I clear my garage door by about an inch so I'm a little nervous each time.

      @@bugoutjeep8065 With the limited room for off-road supplies, I may have to forgo the purist TJ look and order a Gobi rack in the future. Thank you for the informative reply.

    If you had a soft top would this rack be able to tilt back in order for you to remove it?

      Yes. And I believe you can get some quick release type bolts for leaning the rack back. I have been running the hard top, so I opted for the regular bolts. I just looked it up on their site and SKU: GJWQR, should work to make that a bit easier.

    How long does the install take?

    • @bugoutjeep8065
      @bugoutjeep8065 3 роки тому +1

      It took me about a whole day to install at an easy pace and reading the instructions at the same time and occasionally redoing stuff I messed up. Sometimes it'll take longer from what I've heard, because some bolts can be hard to get out. If you do your prep and read ahead of time, you can probably do it in a couple hours especially with a helper.
      The longest part is waiting for the rack. I ordered around mid-November and got it around early May I think.

      @@bugoutjeep8065, thank you so much, I have the GOBI already ready to be installed. All I need now is a diesel engine on my TJ as well and I'll be good to go! Haha cheers man, keep up the good work.

      Enjoy the rack it's pretty cool. Yeah the diesel would be cool, but get your gear ratios right and buy a BUNCH of gas and it's still a lot of fun either way you go.

    Who makes the tool box? And the windscreen you have?

      Those are both from Gobi. They can be ordered separately I think but the lead time tends to be long. Great quality though. I bet someone makes a pistol case or something that would be the right height too, but I've never looked.

    Garvin has a better design imo.
