- Apple today released watchOS 10, the newest version of the watchOS operating system designed to run on the Apple Watch. watchOS 10 is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 4 and later.
watchOS 10 can be downloaded for free through the Apple Watch app on an iPhone running iOS 17 by opening it up and going to General - Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery and it needs to be placed on a charger.
With watchOS 10, Apple overhauled the Apple Watch interface with a renewed focus on widgets. Turning the Digital Crown now brings up the widget Smart Stack, which displays the information that you need most, and it changes throughout the day. The Control Center is now activated with the side button rather than a swipe.

I watch Brandon’s videos from time to time but I will not watch an over 2 hr video about iOS 17. I’ll figure things out on my own lol, especially as I’ve had the public beta for some time now.
Anyone else so annoyed by now having to click the side button for control centre? I have no use for the Smart Stack of widgets, all the information I need is on my watch face.

Same here. Plus the dock is no longer configurable. It’s just the latest apps used.
Honetsly I prefer that over the old way of doing it. What difference does it make swiping with your finger or clicking that button?
@@TheLuxentertainment It’s not that part that bugs me. It’s the fact that there s no longer a configurable dock. The double click on the crown just brings up recently used apps. There are four apps that I use all of the time. I liked that I could always have them front and center.
Personally, I find the old grid layout to be way simpler to use than this one. I also miss the ability to change watch faces especially when no functionality replaced the gesture. Although, using the side button to open the quick actions menu is welcome.
Yeah, I really liked being able to change faces by swapping left and right.

The swipe up to access the control center is something that was used by me quite often, for some reason or the other, the widgets seem pretty useless to me as of now, also, we no longer have the option to swipe between different watch faces, something that just seems a little less cumbersome than press>hold>swipe>tap, im sure the new changes are welcome by a lot, but the widgets should've been a toggle so that the users could have chosen to have the side button bring up the widgets and the swipe up to have bring up the control panel and vice-versa.
I hate it as well. I want to go back to the old system but we can’t. I wish I had never installed the update.
Let me tell you why you don’t care about widgets. Because you got more important things to do. Am I right? Seriously. There’s more than enough apps. Every update gives us more.
Widgets widgets widgets and notifications galore. You know what we need less of? Nags. Nagging by widgets and non important notifications nagging to check out this sale or that. Having to disable nags. Thats why people get annoyed when people are always asking to subscribe and hit the notification button, I’m sorry but if your not a friend or family you don’t need to be dinging my phone along with every other video creator.
Let me give content creators a big tip. There is a reviewer called the Review Spot, he never asks for anything except once in the video a small quiet news ticker comes up saying subscribe and goes right away!
These are all examples of why people do not need more ways to be nagged.
@@TheFutureLooksGrimm I have the 14 pro max for over a year and I don’t think I ever use any of the widgets. Wasn’t anything I cared about. I hate that they’ve changed everything with no option to just go back to the way it was. I hate change for the sake of change just to make people feel like they’ve gotten something new.
This I don’t like. Now I have to dig thru the settings to check my battery percentage 🫠 or have a battery widget/complication

You didn’t mention the worst aspect of watch os10 …. You can’t swipe between watch faces . Terrible decision
But realistically why would you need that quick swiping option during the day? In OS 10 just shortly hold the watch face and you can also swipe to switch faces
@@TheLuxentertainment plenty of people have the same issue with it . I change my watch face several times throughout the day depending on what work I’m doing or if I’m at the gym . Was a lot easier to do than this convoluted way

I actually like this change. I hated the accidental face-swaps after reaching in my pocket or physical activity at work.
Widgets are useless.
Not being able to swipe between watch faces is terrible. I used it multiple times every day.
I only used Control Centre first thing in the morning, to turn on the torch, but the rest of the day I don't use it. I wish Apple would let us configure what the buttons and swiping do.
I wonder if you can disable the widgets they’re defo going to drain battery
what I don't like about watch OS 10 is the fact that every time I go to the app list, it starts at the top again, instead of remaining on the last app that I used.
Bottomline, Watch OS 10 sucks big time!

Battery life is atrocious since updating. And no, it’s not ‘iNdExInG’ its been 10 days.
I thought it was just me. This definitely needs to be corrected because my battery life was wonderful before this unnecessary update

Double pressing the crown would switch between the two most recent apps which was a great feature
You're a life saver, been so mad since the update thinking, they had removed the Dock... so glad you told me the new stupid way to access it.
It may look good. Most of the features I used on the watch used to be swiping up for the control centre. Thanks for highlighting we now need to hit the button.
Thanks for showing me where to find my flashlight and ping button (used them everyday). Not a fan of the updates. Like everyone is saying , not being able to swipe through the clock face is a bummer.

The death of the dock app is a major loss for me as I used it frequently to quickly access apps that didn't make sense to take up space as a complication. In watchOS 10 they kill the app dock, impose new side button and swipe up behavior to features which I do not value.
Apple has handled similar functionality updates better in the past. When they updated the "TV" button on the Siri Remote to open the Apple TV app instead of the previous function of it acting like a home button, a setting was added to toggle this functionality. I would love to see the dock come back as an option. Alternatively, extending user sortability to the list view of the app view would work.

@@j340_official Unfortunately not. That shows recently used apps and I used the function of the dock that was user-defined and static apps.

If you swipe up to see the Smart Stack, you will see one card that shows 3 apps as circular buttons. If you long-press, you can select different apps and also pin that particular card to appear first (poke the yellow pin on the upper right hand side once). It kinda works as a dock replacement. I didn't use the old one so not sure how it compares with this new one.
@@AlejandroValenzuela Unfortunately there's no option to add 3rd party apps at this time, it's only the stock Apple Watch apps.
Some nice OS updates but I don't get why we cant swipe left or right now. I used to change watch faces easily (which is the point of having multiple faces right?) but now swiping left or right doesnt do anything at all, making no sense wasting two useable gestures for anything. A step backwards for usability.

I'm really disappointed that you can no longer swipe left and right between watch faces (you have to press and hold, swipe, then press and hold again... very clunky). This should be an option in settings.

Friends,I see we have gone favorite apps or last opened on the right side button. Instead there is a control center. A bit of a shame, or is that still changeable ?Plus, I can't change the face of my watch by sliding

Nice new feature in Music app is that you can now fast forward curently playing song by holding next song button. I was always missing this option in previous watchOS.

Should’ve done something with the action button for those that have the ultra. I rarely use the action button for anything.

Hate it - bring back simple swipe the faces & why do we need swipe up and turning the crown for widgets? Stupid it was better to swipe up for control center. Apple should just make it optional as a toggle in settings.
Obviously the side button should have been an action button, but no way Apple will give us all the best experience possible at the expensive of Ultra sales.

So after learning all of the new places where apps etc are , I have a question that I can't find an answer for. When you swipe up and it takes you to All Apps, if you long press on an app, does it just delete it from the watch? I don't want so many of these apps to have to scroll through to find the one I need to use.
What happened to the music app? Am I the only one who was using the "on iphone" feature to play and scroll though my playlists on iphone? Now I have to download the music on my watch to listen to it? wtf am I missing here? This is really terrible...
I think Apple got rid of the music feature on their watches.
Where is the water lock? This was a powerful tool as I use it most for when I was at the gym, not I cannot find it.
I love the new OS. I have the Ultra and the new Ultra watch face is fantastik. One thing that I also really like is that 'Night Mode' is now in Auto, so at night time, the display automatically dims. If you do not like this feature, you can always turn it off, but I love it.

I wish they still leave an option to control night mode with digital crown. But they did not.
Why is everything always on by default. Why not opt to use it instead of having to opt out.
@@Prence you generalise to much here I think. It really should depend on the feature wether it will be on or off by default. It’s fine either or as long as the decision is taken with the best user interest in mind.

This Apple Watch just gets better and better, especially like the new watch faces. Can't find any complains about the watch or even the need to to update to the Ultra2. Might have changed it they offered different colors like in the iPhone. Much appreicated video and the new features,will stay connected as usual on new features. THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really don’t like the new update of os10, as the torch has been removed completely and now a fully charged battery doesn’t even stay charged for 24 hours. It doesn’t even tell you how much charge is left.

Double pressing the crown to get back to the last app you were on is gone. You now have to scroll to find it, but I love the update otherwise

When I receive a call on my Apple Watch Ultra it doesn’t show a full screen contact picture? It only shows a mini round picture of the caller? According to the previews, and all marketing pictures for Watch OS 10 it shows a full screen picture caller. Is there a setting to enable this?

So how can we interact with the watch faces like we used to in faces like kaleidoscope and others. Cause if I did by twisting the crown. Widgets are showing up. Is there any way to remove that scrolling thing.

My main issue is that the night mode is auto activated. When I turn off the lights in my room it gets activated, but I don't want this to occur. I'm trying to find a way to turn that off.

Installed OS10 on my Ultra, now finding HUGE battery drain. Only since doing the update. I usually get 2 days of use between charges. Now I can’t get through a day. This is a significant change to battery life. Any ideas how to resolve this?

You have to hold the watch face and swap from there. Similar to how you could edit the watch face straight from the watch itself.
@@heyalexluu Yes, I understand. I should have said that. Still, I don’t like this change at all as it removes a simple one-step procedure and replaces it with a multi-step process that I believe many will find tedious and annoying.

I have my Watch screens organized by "theme"; Communication, Fitness, etc. Easily swiping among my screens is integral to how I use the Watch. Having to long press to get into edit mode so I can move from one screen to another is exactly what you say, "A huge step backwards."
Since updating to Watch os 10 the notifications gets delayed when on mobile data but receives on time when its connected to wifi anybody else experiencing this kindly help ...

It should be safe as long as soap doesn’t get into the watch crevices. Too much soap will break down the internal water resistant mesh over time, eventually letting water in and causing damage.
Bro I bought the ultra 2 for the 3000 nits but what they neglect to tell you is that it only works during the day. At night it stays dim 😂 🤦🏻♂️
Why would one need 3000 nits at night? That insanely bright for a small object on your wrist
