Rich G MMD & I share the same little hometown outside of St. Louis. Try to imagine what it was like having the same choir teacher that MMD had just a decade earlier. It was pretty much impossible to live up to those standards.
Great performance of a Toto-classic. And with Michael McDonald it sounds even more authentic because he sang the backing vocals on the studio version. Shannon Forrest is doing a great job on drums really GROOVY. This might be one of his earliest gigs with Toto.
I went to jr high and high-school with Steve. He was a friend. I would go to his garage and hear him play. This is before he got with 2 brothers down the street. Then i hear he's in the band Toto! He was a nice mellow kind of guy. If he were to read this he would remember me as the girl who was throwing up over the small balcony when he tried to feel me out 😅 We both drank to much. I tried to see him in San Diego in 1980. Im so happy for my friend Steve, he loved playing his quitar 😊
My dad recognized Michael's voice the first time he heard this song. To think, if only he could have shown up with Toto in Reno back in 2018. A way to make an amazing experience for my dad and I even greater.
I was like 11 when this song came out and grew up with Michael McDonald/yacht rock stuff--once you know his voice, you know. Picked it out when I first heard it, and thought he joined Toto after his solo career!
Ironically, he's playing the bass part that Mike Porcaro recorded! And Mike did the opposite for most of Toto's hits when he was in the band. Wish I saw this live, I caught them in 2017 also at the Greek Theatre in L.A. so I missed this by only 3 years.
I love how Luke rarely, if ever plays the outro solo to this song the exact same way. It’s different pretty much every time! Also, I love that Michael is just a regular, down-to-earth guy who just so happens to be extraordinarily talented! ❤
Damn this song just hits me differently 😪.. takes my back to the good old days of the 1980s... Times were so good back then. A period of my life I will FOREVER cherish till the day I go home to the Lord.
Pure magic right there. Michael brought it to a whole new level. The song was sooo good and then he came in... WOW 30 years later still freakin amazing
Legends yes, but also best friends who have supported each other and their respective bands through the years, ups and downs. Genuine, normal people who haven't let the life go to their heads or killed themselves with excess (although they have both tried LOL) :) - Peace.
..getting older not means losing their vocal character.. both luke and mike are great singers and they are still stay the same when i'll be over you and sweet freedom were climbing 86's top 40 track
Steve Lukather w duecie z Michaelem McDonaldem w przeboju Toto z płyty CD,, Fahrenheit,, , lubię słuchać i oglądać ten teledysk , który jest kręcony na dachu wieżowca . Kiedyś to umieli kręcić teledyski .
I love this song and this is probably my favorite version. Between Michael McDonald and those DRUMS(I'm definitely a rhythm section kind of gal) it's just outstanding.
I first heard this song when my 1st husband left us. My baby was 9 month old by that time. He is now 21, has a great job despite of everything we went through. Why all these explanations? Well, each time I hear this song I cry and I can't help it....
I forgot how lovely this song is. Toto has provided such a vast array of rock ballads for all of us to enjoy. How nice for band to have the voice of Michael McDonald ( Doobie Brothers singer and pianist) accompany them on this tour.
I just found this. This makes me cry happy tears. But also makes me think back, well what I can remember anyway. It's crazy how I can't remember a lot bc I have seizures, (and I'm getting old) but music I can remember. Things I did with music surrounding. Just wow. I always loved this song, and Toto and Michael McDonald. I was a kid and the first time I heard this I was like, that's Michael McDonald and made this song even better. So I'm glad I found this. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks soooo much for posting! I wanted to see these guys together in concert but they never came close to my town. Nashville of all places! Ive heard Mike even has a home here. Why not come here!? Lol
Seeing Michael McDonald still performing after all these years brings a smile and tears to my eyes.
Ooooh I know/!!
mine too. tears came out of nowhere. blessed.
Me too has to be the virus
Beautiful
Iconic music of an era passed.... Jesus loves U!
An absolutely beautiful song. With Steve Lukather and Michael McDonald telling the story it just doesn’t get better.
Wow, just beautiful to have Michael McDonald show up like that. What a treat.
Simply put Michael McDonald might but the most underrated musician ever. The man can do it all. What a talent for us to enjoy since 70’s.
Rich G MMD & I share the same little hometown outside of St. Louis. Try to imagine what it was like having the same choir teacher that MMD had just a decade earlier. It was pretty much impossible to live up to those standards.
For sure
Naw. He’s rated properly. It’s Luke’s guitar playing that’s truly underrated.
Sadly, Michael is looking like he's about to take the starring role in the next installment of The Santa Clause 4: Christmas Cookies Thief
Respect
Seriously got chills wen Michael appeared ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💋💋👄👄👄👄👄🌹🌹🌹💕love you too much!
Mike McDonald's voice is like the most perfect complementary glass of wine to an already perfect meal.
Love him
This song always gives me the chills and brings back some memories from those days.
Tak jak i mnie ogarniają wspomnienia chwil mi najdroższych do końca życia. Wszystko już definitywnie za mną. Amen 😢
Steve is exceptional singing and playing his guitar. He and Mike are good friends.
Great performance of a Toto-classic. And with Michael McDonald it sounds even more authentic because he sang the backing vocals on the studio version. Shannon Forrest is doing a great job on drums really GROOVY. This might be one of his earliest gigs with Toto.
Michael is one of a kind. An incredible talent and such a down to earth widely respected singer, musician and man.
Michael McDonald’s Voice is a direct gift from God! He gives me goosebumps every time he sings even today ❤❤
Great! Michael McDonald where on the original recording 1986. So cool.
Michael McDonald is that one of a kind, once in a lifetime kind of artist!!!! ❤🔥👌🏽

Two great artists backed up by a superb band.
That's a good night out.
Wow. Fantastic! Lukather is king!!!
Simply put........Steve Lukather is the most under rated guitar player EVER........
I’m not sure if this is my favorite Toto song or not. Definitely top 5.
That was great having Michael McDonald there. Toto has very great songs.

Dammm Luke just plain drives right into your soul. Love this!!!
I love how Luke rarely, if ever plays the outro solo to this song the exact same way. It’s different pretty much every time! Also, I love that Michael is just a regular, down-to-earth guy who just so happens to be extraordinarily talented! ❤
This is still one of my alltime favorite song!❤❤❤
In the 1980's, if you wanted a hit, call Mike and you had a chart topper. It was just that easy. The guys is as kind and talented as they come.
What is great is seeing Steve Porcaro Joe Williams and David Hungate with them on it. It's Toto.
Damn this song just hits me differently 😪.. takes my back to the good old days of the 1980s... Times were so good back then. A period of my life I will FOREVER cherish till the day I go home to the Lord.
Wonderful can't get no better 😂😁😁!

My favourite singer and guitarist together.
I love it that Steve and Mike performed it live!
Legends yes, but also best friends who have supported each other and their respective bands through the years, ups and downs. Genuine, normal people who haven't let the life go to their heads or killed themselves with excess (although they have both tried LOL) :) - Peace.

;(
Mumaus Arbogast-Fonck I am sorry to hear that. I know these feelings well - especially from exact that time in summer..
I have the same response. It reminds me of the love of my life and losing her. Driving in my car, listening to this song and crying....
Bless you and him. So very glad you were able to stay strong, and your baby boy is a great man.
This amazing song really became important to me after my precious wife of 44 years died in October of 2017. I don't ever want to get over her.
WOW! Just WOW!
I forgot how lovely this song is. Toto has provided such a vast array of rock ballads for all of us to enjoy. How nice for band to have the voice of Michael McDonald ( Doobie Brothers singer and pianist) accompany them on this tour.
Could you believe members of our favorite band are going grey already? Man how time flies!
