That was a fun video - lots of great details (photos and video) An interesting point that you see a lot more up there - on the other hand (as you pointed out) you catch a lot more brush as well. (give & take) Good decision to have chosen a vehicle with similar track width to the other vehicles traveling the same trails. It has been shown that if you install much wider tires on normal-sized vehicle (troopy size) you have a better chance of catching flats. If you could have a do-over with minimal costs - what rig would you choose to do the kind of travel you are doing? (or not!)
We have been asked that question a few times, probably would stick with a Unimog, it just seems the right vehicle for us. We like that it is big enough to live inside, but small enough to fit in a normal car park at the shops.
@@UnimogAdventures I have a Transit Van that I like for just that - THat you can live inside when need be. But it is just not great on a challenging track. What a trip. Excellent detailed trip report. Sound track was very good, not the noisy typical one's. Photos were of excellent quality as well. Some questions I would like to make if possible. Was this a stock Unimog? What changes have you made? Who made your "box"? Looks very neat. Well done and thanks for. sharing such experience. 👍

The suspension is very soft and has lots of travel so it looks worse than it it. We have added bigger fuel tanks and can have the jerry cans down low as well. No space for the spare to got anywhere but on the roof.

LOL, thanks Samual.
Great vid! Saying hi from NZ 😊
Thanks, hi back from Australia :)
Very informative. I'm planning to do it on a motorcycle 🤞🤪.
Would be quite a trip on a bike, doing is by yourself?
@@UnimogAdventures , still in planning stages. Lots of training ahead. Maybe not alone, but unassisted from support vehicle.
@@marthinusvorster Wow, your bike must carry a lot of fuel. 600km+ between fuel supplies.
Thanks for the comments glad you like the video. Our truck is far from a stock Unimog, it took us 6 years to turn it into what it is today. This video shows what we did ua-cam.com/video/bt-4kbC3B3E/v-deo.html , and Iain did most of the work himself.
We will be doing a "walk around" video showing all the things we have done to the truck.
Amazing video. Truly beautiful woman. Thank you for sharing with us
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks top-heavy. Move spare tire & extra weight lower? Encounter any bad snakes?
The suspension is very soft and has lots of travel so it looks worse than it it. We have added bigger fuel tanks and can have the jerry cans down low as well. No space for the spare to got anywhere but on the roof.
Unimog Adventures, Wow mate, just love the detail of your adventures. It's not until you leave the place & chat about it with your friends
That you realize how lovely & unique the place has been. We were in a Band with "Kevin Bloody Wilson" for 4 years in a place called "Kalgoorlie" & did shows around that whole area. ( Just loved the Toned body works from 8:12) thankyou
Glad you like it Gib, :)
You have a Unimog no worries.
Yes, that what we thought, no need to "prepare the truck"
