Explore how active approaches can motivate learners, help with retention and recall and develop a sense of ownership in language learning!
During this practical and interactive workshop we will explore how active learning can be embedded throughout the entire learning process to create a motivating, fun and empowering language learning experience for children and young people. This session is designed for primary however the approaches included will be largely applicable at secondary level as well. We will explore:
The benefits of active approaches
How we can active engage learners in the planning and progression of their own learning
Different approaches for introducing and retaining new language
Activities and ideas for consolidating learning
An introduction to task-based learning
Tips and tricks for assessing learning actively!
We will explore each area through different themes including:
Seasonal activities (Christmas and winter)
Wider curricular areas such as Numeracy, Health and Well-being and Expressive Arts
Cultural Contexts and
Classroom language
The main language of the session will be French however we will share how activities can be transferred to other languages.
