Claudette Robinson, The First Lady of Motown and original Miracle, recounts the first show The Miracles performed at The Apollo Theater. Ray Charles' band did not want to play The Miracles' lead sheets and the owner did not like Smokey Robinson and The Miracles because they did not know how to get on and off the stage.

I’m 71 and I remember being 8 going to the Apollo with my parents because my father was a musician, and to this day Smokey’s music is my favorite! I now love Sidney Justin and the Miracles! Can’t wait to see them on the Soultrain cruise! We were raised blocks from the Apollo and in those days you did stay all day until you were able to move up to the first row!
