"While rising" always made more sense to me and I never understood why people like to use "while standing". "While standing" makes it sounds like the character is already in a standing position as opposed to *rising* from a crouch state.

WR became While Running. Sure WS could be While Sprinting instead, but While Running and While Standing is what stuck

@@xyzen9673But that could also be confused for Rising. So R and WR would just be a bit redundant too. There’s been lots of trial and error around the shorthand that makes the most sense.
@@xyzen9673 believe me, in my community, we tried that, and it failed. It confused tf out of us, so we went back to the old acronyms.
While standing is such a confusing term when beginning. Remember it as short form for while standing (up), and we use it instead of while rising so that the abbreviation doesn't clash with while running's abbreviation, both being wr.
I've always thought wrong term was changed, and we should have changed while running -> while sprinting.
We can always say how we wanted to atleast.
Every single Tekken game has called it While Rising. Every single one. While Standing is a term made up by some tryhard fake pro player who's too good to use the game's own terms.

@@alantaylorfcNo, it's the community that decided on that for the purpose of the combo notation. No need to be a toolbox.
Especially confusing taking into account we have a state called standing i.e. neutral stance, which in turn gets confusing if used because we have a term called neutral

genuinely the most difficult thing for me going from 2d to 3d was while standing, I had no idea it was even a mechanic until someone actually told me
Raise your hand if you don't even bother with these moves because during the chaos of the fight you get the input wrong and you do a crouch move/ neutral move instead ✋
I always found the term so confusing. While standing? So... like in neutral? Well no, it's "while (being in the process of) standing (up)."
I just call it rising. I know it doesn't work in notations, so when I write it down I do write "ws" but I still say rising, you know what I mean?
back in tekken 2 i didnt get half of the conditional terms, wish it was explained like this way back!

“While rising” and “while standing” are the same thing, but when it comes to notations “while standing” is more helpful. Reason being because there’s also a notation that utilizes “WR” known as “while running”, so “while standing” or “WS” helps to differentiate “while running” and “while rising”. (Both are “WR”. Confusing, I know.)
I STRUGGLE ALOT to do a while standing after a micro dash, any tips ?
It should be firmly called 'While rising'.
It's called While Standing (WS) by the community instead of While Rising because then it would share the same acronym as While Running (WR)

While standing is unfortunately a term that existed before movelist
I think it should have been lumped up in the earlier part that you can do while rising stuff after you let go of crouch ---- or just after being forced into a crouch after certain moves.
I understand that it was stated in the later part of the video, but from the presentation, it could be interpreted as just an afterthought. Just my 2 cents.
While standing = “During” standing

"While Rising" makes more sense and sounds better than "While Standing" I get that why the community had to use a different term because it conflicts with "While Running" in a abbreviated form WR. I still call it While rising though cause it just sounds better in my head but write down as WS.

I never understood why the tekken vocab designated while rising move as while standing...
When you hear while standing do you picture a person standing in place or a person standing up? Its so dumb... "But oh its for the abbreviation, and WR is used for while running" THEN JUST USE R FOR RUNNING MOVES... i swear FGC vocabs are stupid sometimes.
It has never been While Standing and it will never be While Standing. Not in any single Tekken game that I've played - I've played all but Tekken Advance - has it been While Standing. It's While Rising. RISING. Not Standing.
