I originally wanted a skyline before getting my chaser and then realized how impractical it was going to be given the fact I have 4 kids that love to come to car shows and cruises with me. My Chaser Tourer V is hands down the best car I’ve owned so far. It’s not the fastest thing I’ve owned but considering the era this car came from is wild on how well it performs. I really wonder what power they would’ve produced these cars at if it wasn’t for the gentlemen’s agreement. With basic bolt ons and a boost controller this car GETS DOWN and sounds fkn amazing.
I feel you, I wanted 4 Door Skyline too and then realiszed that getting immortal Toyota, which also drifts and can haul family and stuff is wiser solution, especially considering all parts that are still available or fit from other Lexuses and Toyotas :D

Hey brother, recently got your channel recommended to me :D Congrats for getting one, especially Automatic. People are sleeping on these gems thinking that they are sluggish and shit to drive. Quite the opposite, slap a shiftkit, HKS intake, a straight pipe and this thing shifts faster than modern DSG's, and you get awesome pops and bangs. Also a lot cheaper to buy and in waaaaaaaay better condiiton than Manual ones that have been abused. You have summed it up perfectly. This car matches every single critera we want. I own a bunch of cars (some really expensive ones) but the Chaser is still may daily go to. So take care of her and enjoy every single second :D I'm now finally making the jump on a transmission swap on mine but not manual :D I'm going for an 8hp70 swap. I'd highly recommend you to look into it if you haven't already. It's next level: coupling one of the best engines ever made with a top modern automatic transmission. Much love from EU

I own a 1999 Toyota Chaser Tourer V in 6N9. Amazing car with low kms and all the goodies like a TRD front strut brace, Rare Optioned OEM Chaser Grill, upgraded Tein Flex 7 Coilovers and it's sitting on 18inch Silver R34 GTR wheels.

I'd love to own a jzx100, but unfortunately my country has a rule against importing second-hand cars, this car is very rare in my state, only a few fingers
JZX110 master race. Rarer than the X100 by far, the most refined JZX chassis with all the bugs from the past generations sorted out. And the best point, 1/2 the price of a X100 because everyone buys the same 5 jdm cars.

I had no idea they made so many r32s. Looks like the r33 and r34 were much closer to jzx100 production levels. Makes sense, since those generations are closer in year. Now I'm curious how many x90s were made. Regardless, yes, this is my current car obsession.
Couldn't get approved so i bought an is300 and swapped in r154 and jzs171. Id like to think my car is nearly identical as far as the jzx driving experience.

Alternator and plugs are easily found from USA. It’s the same as the 2JZ. Replacement body parts are hard to find stateside but can be air shipped from Japan

They are extremely reliable and they are absolutely HORRIBLE first car’s for anyone. All the little dings and damage you’ll eventually get on your first car is not something you want with a car that’s imported from Japan. Replacing and maintaining parts like windshields, bumpers, fenders, etc is very difficult. The car is extremely reliable but you’ll need to have tons of resources available.
Plan on importing one manual from japan as locally in aus they’re going for $40k+ for decent high mileage example 180k km engine +.. how’s the economy if you baby the engine?
The are definitely great cars either way. If you want something REALLY fast with a warranty go new. If you want a really good used car that makes you smile go with a JZX100 Tourer V but you will 100% need a manual.
@@CoolGuyClub id prefer the manual but its hard to justify it. A good auto is like $10k and a good manual is close to $30k. 2.5-3x the price for the tranny alone is not worth it. Maybe it's not as cool, but I could get a blade master G for like 8k in good condition/low miles. Newer, US Lexus V6 power, etc. I wouldn't want to buy new ever unless im like ridiculously rich some day, too much waste.
Same brand but no where near similar driving experience. Turbo vs NA engine lsd vs no LSD Rhd vs lhd Different suspension geometry The little things really change up how it drives and handles. But there are definitely a ton of shared parts.
@@CoolGuyClub the Lexus IS300 does come with the LSD option and you can drop one Jay Z motor into the IS300, which is argumentatively a more nimble chassis because it’s more lightweight and shorter and dimension so technically it’s better if you get it in the right spec

Im sorry but in the first minute when you said, "this is only about the jzx100, tourer v trim," I didn't like that. I feel you discredit other x90/x100 cars heavily based on the fact they dont have YOUR 1jz-gte vvti, even though many of them did or had other great motors including the non vvti 1jz, 7m for the x80, 2jz-ge, and etc, options for the following gens. The many motor options for these cars were astounding and something rare to see today optioned into cars. You could get all sorts of aftermarket and performance parts for many of these options not just the 'jzx100 tourer v 1jzt-vvti.' I agree that in the US where we live it is definitely easier to get x100 parts because of their notoriety and popularity among the drift scene but not impossible or difficult to do the same for others.. Although the jzx100 has improved suspension, is 70ish pounds lighter, and a facelift doesn't mean the other x100s and x90s aren't or couldn't be right there with them.
1 reason why not to buy JDM even do I so fking badly want one: it's right hand drive annoying to drive when at right turns. Anyways you can always convert anything to left hand drive even if your wheel and pedals are the only things you have with a missing dash board like a drift card 😂😂 but in gonna buy a Lexus LS400 4.0L V8 or 4.6L 3UZ 1993-1995-1998
I've got a GX100 Chaser but I bought it intending to swap my non-VVTi NA 2J/R154 into. Tourer Vs are cool for stock cars but 1J VVTis are really the worst JZs because of the head. Great for stock power up to around 450hp but anything beyond that is a struggle.
Really? There are plenty of guys that get well past 450 without head work (porting, cams, etc). Mine is still being tuned with a Haltech, but at 15psi/5000ft elevation it made 523whp and that was fuel limited, will be making more since the injectors were swapped (again). Tomei BX turbo, stock intake/exhaust manifolds, bigger throttle body, front mount/j-pipe, but so far there's really nothing we've had to do to the head itself unless the car had some other modifications done to it that weren't disclosed/discovered before it was imported. Drives really well too.

If you still have the factory IS300 cluster and it's working it's arguably a better experience.

Economy isn’t bad. It isn’t great. Staying out of boost gives us around 20 mpg on the highway.

400 is the hp sweet spot. Plus you get all the benefits of vvti. Anything above that isn’t worth it for our cruiser.
