I've been echoing the sentiment of the above title since I first saw the film. This scene as well as the one in Paris (Peugeot vs. BMW) toward the end of the movie are truly superb examples of action chase scenes throughout modern cinema.
Yeah they are good chases but too biased in favor of the French cars. There's no way a regular Peugeot 406 could keep up with a BMW M5. At least they could have used a 406 V6 to make it believable
The 6.9 Mercedes S-Class featured was something very special and rare. Few people knew what it was because it looked like a standard S-class. Massive engine and hydro-pneumatic suspension.
@@drsolarAudi’s with Quattro AWD and DSG hold corners like they are glued down. I took a series of surprise switchback turns in my TT starting at 120 mph, and could only brake the car for second between each successive turn. Second turn at 115, third at 105, fourth at 95 and the car held the turns and didn’t even come out of the lane. You can’t steer them with the throttle, like RWD cars, but then, you don’t want to skid or drift thru turns since test after test shows that’s slower. My car only has 250 hp. No way I can out accelerate a corvette. But on a winding road, I’ve never had one keep up with me.
@@christopherpardell4418 I like how you Audi folks are talking up your cars. The Audi is still limited by its suspension. The Citroën had no roll, the suspension maintained the cars body height and contact with the road irrespective of how sharp the corner was. It defied the laws of car suspension behavior. The car did not lean. No weight transfer.
contnuity error, just as they are driving up to the workmen ( just a few frames before both carsturn to avoid impact) you will see theres only one car. yet the next frame as stated above, there suddenly shows a 2nd car
The best car chase movie bar none. But there are continuity errors, some frontal shots of the XM clearly show a phase 1 car but in others it's a phase 2.
A friend of my grandmother had a green 1989 420SEL. I doubt she ever drove it, she always had a chauffeur. It was really nice and well maintained, until a freak accident with an out of control asphalt roller.
@@rockolutheranit is for sure, I did my fair share of j turn and stuff like this, you don't get that much smoke really especially on cold tires. And no 4 sec burnout can't properly warm up.
The film is made in 2000, why not 560SEL w126 is used instead of W116, even at that time 450SEL was over 20 years old. W126 is more powerful and more successful than W116.
Maybe because the 6.9 liter produced 286 hp? To that account the 560 SEL was capable of producing 300 hp but the US version was giving 234 hp.. so, you’re right.. Maybe the badge of 6.9?
This movie is a Masterpiece, but the gunsounds are aweful, espacialy the sig556, and the mp 5 later in the movie. and it was too much smoke aroend the tyres of the 6.3 benz. computer smoke.

Jean Reno is one of the most underrated actors, his part in LÉON was fantastic as was Gary Oldman. A superb film.

I always felt sorry for that grocer dude.
He actually survived. Opened a Kroger in Leon.
Yeah but who the hell stands up behind someone getting shot at?
The active suspension on the Citroën is something else. In the bends none of the chase vehicles could keep up with it.
It’s a film. It does not show reality. It shows what the director wanted to show.
Audi with 4 wheel drive will catch it..
@@peterlondon2217 the active suspension allowed it to carry much more speed through the corners. The Audi could not match that.
