- In this video I am taking a first look, walk around and test drive this brand new 2021 Genesis G70 Htrac, 2.0T. This amazing sedan is the Genesis entry level model designed to compete with other luxury sedans such as Mercedes C300, BMW 3 series, Lexus IS300, Alfa Romeo Julia, Acura TLX. Does it have enough to carry its weight in this already crowded segment? Hear my thoughts in this video.

I drove a 1999 Acura 3.2TL for the last 20 years. Time to replace it...
It came down to either the BMW 330i xDrive or the Genesis 2.0T G70 (Elite trim). I chose the G70. Why?
Value and Reliability.
I saved CAN$8,000 over the similarly configured BMW. That's a good chunk of change!
Great warranty!
Genesis has a much higher reliability rating at both Consumer Reports and J.D. Power.
The G70 has comparable performance to the German sedans.
I'm quite okay with the 8-inch infotainment screen. The system is really, really easy to use. I don't spend much time fiddling with settings anyway. (What's the point of having an elongated 10-inch screen?)
My only nits are:
1. Relatively poor gas mileage.
2. Cramp backseats.
3. Small trunk.
But otherwise I love this car!
It doesn't have the cachet of the BMW marque but BMW (and Mercedes and Audi) are far too ubiquitous. At least the Genesis is a fairly rare sight and I like that. It turns heads!
FYI, I don't like the 2022 refresh. Ugly new grille. The quad headlamps are meh.
@O Depends on what you're after. If you want to be environmentally conscious, if you want to save money, then go with 2.0T. If you want to take the car to the track, or do spirited driving on open country roads, then go for 3.3T.

I love My 2020 G70. I have this very model with brown interior. Compared to a BMW 330i, I’ll take her first!!! Much more user friendly. Not all technologically advanced, but it is simple enough. Most say it is generic, but to Me, has it’s own character. I love the slightly heavier steering it has over the 330i.
Also, SCC stands smart cruise control.
got 2019 2.0T blue and so far after 3 weeks of daily driving I only saw 3 other g70's on the road. The only problem with the car so far is gas mileage, I Started to run eco-mode which seems to boost the MPG.
How does the eco-mode affect performance? Do you notice any difference?
@@MattTheCarguy car loses some of that kick that is about it. lets say you are in sport or even comfort mode on a red light waiting for green. when you press gas on those modes this car goes. I mean I am 4-6 car lengths ahead of the guy next to me and I barley tapped the pedal. Forgot to mention I have AWD. On Eco maybe 1-2 cars ahead. Also I had people asking me what type of Maserati is this.

I'm tempted to trade in my 2013 premium hyundai genesis coupe 2.0t for the g70 but I still can't make up my mind 😅😤
I just spoke with someone and complained that they discontinued the genesis coupe. Loved that body style.
@@MattTheCarguy yea only reason I haven't traded my coupe last one was the 2016 model hopefully it makes a comeback since the g series looking 🔥🔥🔥 I could only imagine how the coupe will look I know it will be pricey for sure 🤣😅 but I'm down to give an arm an leg for it 😁
25:20 keep mind the redesign Technology. Genesis has the ability to correct things now, such as the Cameras, the one-sided exhaust (why can't it have both side outlets like much lower priced cars from other makes). Why.. because it LOOKS better!
Aside from that, the Germans charge $$$ thousands for things like LED lighting front/rear & turn indicators. They're STANDARD in this car.
They did a nice job redesigning it for 2022. I will stand with my opinion that if they want to compete with the Germans they need to bring their "A" game. They are very nice and i have been a fan of Genesis but I am also being critical because the Germans have ruled the sport sedan market for years and proven to be lots of fun. Are they option driven?? Sure, but you can customize to to your style, liking. I think Genesis is becoming a competitor but is still quite ways away. For those who think otherwise, i am sure they have not driven the latest Mercedes or BMW products.

I don't like the 2022 refresh. They made it uglier, in my opinion. I hate the new grille. I don't care for the quad headlamps. Putting the "Genesis" script on the trunk lid is dumb. The side vents look odd. About the only thing I do like is the blindspot cameras.
