The aulos melody from the first song is a slight alteration of a medieval attempt at setting a Homeric Hymn to music in a style that was imagined to sound Ancient Greek. I'm not complaining here. I love what they've done with the tune. I just want to give recognition where recognition is due.
How peculiar... A comment seemed to have disappeared... Just saying to clarify that I was not the one to delete it, or at least not intentionally... In any case, yes, to answer the comment, the first song does indeed resemble a story, as its pace suggests. It is no coincidence too, as much of the Roman music accompanied various forms of myths, tales, poems, etc. Purely instrumental music was rare and books such as 'Odyssey' and 'Iliad' were meant to be recited alogn with music.
Thank you so much for posting this track as well as information, I’m using it for my class and it is so helpful. However I am having trouble recognizing the instruments that are used. It sounds like a Lute is being used . Is that correct or wrong? I also think a flute or pan flute are being used. And in the beginning I could’ve sworn I heard the triangle. If you could just tell me if I’m on the right path or completely wrong, it would be extremely helpful. Thank you so much Aemilius!

Good tune ⚡️ You are worth following, sir.
É preferível escutar estes sons evocadores de antigos mundos do que a pouco criativa música atual veiculada pela indústria fonográfica dominante. 🎼
