"KANAKO", is a Visayan dialect from Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines, where Ken hails & it means, "For Me" in English. The song is Ken's or Felip's way of being grateful to his family, relatives or loved ones, fans or supporters & especially to God for being there for him through thick & thin, in good times & in bad, come hell or high waters. It's actually a tribute song to the Lord & his followers who are around protecting & supporting him, as always. Felip or Ken Suson is a thoughtful & grateful person, indeed, just as his song, Kanako entails or suggests. The song actually speaks volumes about Ken's greatness & magnanimity as an artist & a person.
As a line in your song says it - Felip/Ken, we will always embrace you tightly, hold you in our hands & save you when the going gets tough or in crucial times when a part of the population hate, bash, ridicule or envy you or want to discourage you & pull you down. This song is for his fans who always support and stay with him during his complex , I guess, based on the vedio I saw . Because As far I know he had so many Basher especially during that time.

The first time I heard this song, I was so convinced that this is really for A’Tin/Sisiws, though towards the end, it can be a worship song too.
But then, check this: 4:23, the exact phrase he used is “naka-ila tamo”. I am from the same area Felip grew up in, and “tamo” is a plural word. The English translation (when i met you) loses that point, because “you” can also be used as a single pronoun. So, if it’s for God, Ken could have said, “naka-ila Tika”.
Example:
Gihigugma tika : i love you (1 person)
Gihigugma tamo: i love you all (group, plural)
Ken already mentioned (his speech before his live performance of kanako in Dubai) that the song he wrote is for himself, his family, for all of us (fans) and especially for God, so I think no need na naman pagtalunan or pag isipan para kanino ba talaga ung song kasi it can be for everyone
And oh I also saw a reaction from a bisaya person's perspective and she said tamo/kayo can be a polite way of addressing someone so if kay God, since God has 3 persona, the father , the son and the spirit... so pwede din talaga

This song is a BisRock Bisaya Rock, which has been going on for a very long time even before OOKR 😉
BisRock music style originated in Cebu back in the 80’s but the term BisRock was used to describe the style started only in 2002. And One Ok Rock was formed in 2005 😉
