I find your videos SO helpful! I just recently found you & so happy I did! I LOVE that you tackle the misinformation online. It's absolutely insane. I also love the scientific approach, very much my alley. Thanks so much, I look forward to finishing your videos, lol.
Great video! I've only overwatered once, and that particular plant was in a pot with no drainage holes. I went to check on him, and there was literally water standing on the surface of the soil. Thankfully, it was summer, hotter than hell, and he was a Pothos. I drained all the water I could, took him out to the front porch, and let the sun/heat dry him out. He dried out and didn't miss a beat. Somehow I didn't have any issues with root rot. I have never used a pot with no drainage holes since. On another note, there is nothing wrong with using a moisture meter, but don't rely on it as the only means of determining whether or not a plant needs to be watered. I use 3 methods - the weight of the pot, my finger or a wooden skewer, and the moisture meter. The moisture meter allows me to test the soil deeper than my finger can reach in bigger pots, but I don't rely solely on it.
i can't believe how low the numbers are on this video--it's SOOO helpful! it's so clear that you really know your stuff and you do a wonderful job explaining the nuances of plant care in a way that's super digestible
I love your videos!!! You are my fave at the min 😊. I have just put my maranta in a self watering situation, the soil is always damp-everything looks good so far, been 2 weeks. Leaves look good & roots look ok in the clear pot. When do u think it would show signs of overwatering? It’s growing SLOWLY but probably cos it’s winter. I’ve had this plant 6 months & never really looked good-leaves never moved -always short stems. Xxxx
I may be underwatering because my plant sheds brown or brownish yellow leaves and some of the green leaves have those brown crispy edges. I usually water my plant 2 to 3 times a week so ima double it hopefully that'll fix the problem

You’d probably see signs of overwatering within 2-3 weeks
