At that time I always wondered if the writers wanted to turn Joey into a vilain because WTF he only sleeps with women once and then never calls them back but goes for a "serious" relationship with Rachel of all people.
Shame on Joey for gaslighting poor Laura. This is why Chandler is my favorite male character. He is the least flawed out of the three male characters. RIP Matthew Perry 😢💔🕊️🌹🙏🏼.

He does this in an attempt to make her believe she cannot trust herself or her memory.
It's played for laughs here, but Joey gaslighting Laura into thinking that she was the one who never called him back wouldn't be as funny in real life, and just makes Joey look callous, instead of the lovable ladies' man we know him to be.
