imo one of the best tracks in video gaming. Truly a masterpiece, very underrated as well. Makes me wish we would get a DQ5 remake on modern hardware. The DS remake was probably the best remake of it, but it lacked the beautiful orchestral music renditions of the PS2 version.
In my opinion is better the PS2 version, have more variety on dialogs (These dialogs are veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery interesting), sounds, sprites and difficulty. The NDS version is good for the plus on Deboorah (Is the OP wife), but is a little inferior to the Ps2 version. Sadly the Ps2 version doesn't out in others countrys.
For me, hearing this for the second time in generation 2 is even more significant. Not only are you finally leaving your traumatic childhood behind, from the same port you started from, but you can finally resume your father’s quest to find the legendary hero. You are free, and the world is yours to explore!
Here I am in 2024, where I played a Dragon Quest game for the first time in my life. In fact, it was my first turn-based RPG game. This game is simply incredible. The music and art by Akira Toriyama make it much more memorable. Out of all the songs, this was the one that left the biggest impression on me. The game's intro on the ship with this music in the background is VERY moving. I can say without a doubt that this was one of the most beautiful game intros I have ever played in my entire life. This scene on the ship along with this music, it's like I was watching a Studio Ghibli film.
This song is the best intro to this game there could have been as you sail the sea with your father and his crew DQ5 doesn’t have my favorite gameplay in the series but it’s def the best story and characters
"Is it possible to feel so nostalgic for something I've never played? Because I'm in tears right now, after listening to this song." Filthy, disgusting spammer.. go away. This quote is repeated in many other songs by random users. UA-cam is full of fake bots & users.
Well, I cried when I *started* the game, so we're kinda like in the same boat. By the way, I've just finished the game and loved it, really. So STOP LOSING YOUR TIME AND PLAY IT ALREADY!
Renato Davi I really really wanna play it myself- I came here as well to listen despite never having played this one. I really want to but I’m making DAMN SURE the first time I play dq5 it’s gonna be on the ps2 because it looks so amazing. I unfortunately don’t have a PC right now that could handle ps2 emulation ☹️. One day I’ll play it. Oh well, right now I’m really enjoying dq11 and I’m sure it’ll take me awhile to beat it. Don’t let anyone tell you that dq11 isn’t a good game, it’s really good, just as lovable as 8, and so long as you don’t over level it’s actually just as challenging as my first time playing dq7 on ps1
Currently playing this game and just bumped into this song while riding on my first voyage, can't help but coming here for a good listening. Really beautiful piece from Koichi Sugiyama.
I know, right? Especially when the DS version's music sounds horrible and the screen is split between the top and bottom, this would be a far superior version of the game to bring over. The DS version may have portability, but the PS2 version wins out in terms of quality.
@@Jordan3DS Yeah, I did the whole game on the PS2 version first and I clearly prefer this version to the DS version. The lack of symphonic music and the split screen made it less enjoyable.
maybe they will do another new version of this game for PS5/next gen? They are making a new movie about DQ V story...playing through this game 1st time for SNES...awesome...
RIP Akira Toriyama

The story of a hero, who began with a dad and his son.
Hearing this music before beginning the adventure is just magic. One of the best video game soundtrack I've ever heard.

I think it shows how good this song is that they reprised it and gave homage to it for DQ8 credits song - Sky, Ocean and Earth. Absolutely wonderful.
This track is truly a classic of classics. One of the most beautiful pieces in all of gaming, bar none.
When I first time heard this melody , it is just like dreaming ...
DQ5 still is my favorite RPG game...
I can tell that this track came from the heart.
Goodbye Koichi Sugiyama.
This music is so wonderful.. can't stop listenning to it. Sometimes it made my tears run up.

I feel the same thing when listening to Dragon Quest IX's overworld theme symphonic suite version though soon after that I decided to play the game.

A nice theme to start off a fraction of what's to come in a beautiful story that's of Yuji Horii's personal preference (And of mine as of now!)

DQ5の海はパパスとの想い出の舞台でもある。

DQ5だと始まりの地ですしね。
