Contested each May, the PGA Championship is the second major championship in golf’s annual rotation, and perennially features the strongest field in the men's game based on the Official World Golf Rankings. Known for dramatic finishes and notable champions, the Wanamaker Trophy-which has been awarded to the winner since 1916-is inscribed with names such as McIlroy, Woods, Nicklaus, and Player. The 2023 PGA Championship is set to take place between May 18-21 at Oak Hill Country Club. The reigning champion is Justin Thomas.

Glad he got his top 15 and an automatic invite to next year's tourney. Clutch up and down!
Is that how it works? The top 15 get in next year?

Words cannot explain how happy we are for you sir. You made all of us so very proud! 🙏

If this is the last time in my life I get to watch the PGA Championship, it was one the best I've ever watched.
Congrats to Mike & Brooks for the Win.
I wish you many more pga championship experiences stay strong brother

What a story! The greatest final round for a club pro. An ace, a par save in the final hole to get to top 15 and an automatic invite for next year! No movie can make this up...crazy! Congrats to Michael. This will definitely change his life.
Reminds of a certain movie…
He has also now received sponsor exemptions to play in the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Canadian Open.
The tension as the ball creeps towards the hole. Sporting entertainment at its pinnacle. 30 for 30 Mike Block doc should already be on the cutting room floor.
Thanks Mike! Watching you play was an absolute pleasure. And that hole in one on 15... You are a legend!
Man when they interviewed Block afterwards, and he broke down seeing his son react...It finally all hit him at once! 😭. A club pro at 46 years old playing like that, just UNREAL! 👍
Just goes to show. Some don't get better until mid ways in life. I'm 45 and I am getting better as well. I never understood how to hit the ball. I could play golf. But, I couldn't take a divot until about 6 months ago. I've always chunked the 💩 out of it. But not a divot. And I was not consistent on my drives. I am consistent I the low 80s. I had one round of a 78. But, that is the best I've done. I am still trying and hope I make it one day.
@@williammills8953 Make what one day?
It was
@@swazmc Probably a 72 lol. That'd be my goal if I could shoot 78
I couldn’t break 100 if my life depended on it. But I kept at it and im about to turn 42 as a single digit. Keep going
The biggest story of the '23 PGA Championship, Michael Block.
no....the biggest story is the winner....
@@pjc1362 nobody cares about Brooks
@@pjc1362 I love brooks. He is an all time great. I was pulling for brooks during the masters and this week. However, I have never seen anything like this. This was a tearjerker. To understand his sick child was routing for his father, his hero, brought me to tears. It was the greatest hole in one of all time. I am so glad a middle class dude got the blessing. Brothers in Christ, God blessed this family and inspired people like me to continue grinding. God bless u, and all of us. God is great.
This reminded me of Tin Cup. No, Michael didn't win (congrats to Brooks) but his story made the PGA so enjoyable for me.
Biggest story is LIV player beating all the pga players
And ranking 44 on meaningless owgr 😂
I absolutely love these moments watching golf on TV when you can hear the whirring white noise in the background, the deafening sound of silence from a group of thousands of people focused on one man, and Jim Nantz's voice setting the scene. The tension is incalculable. And oh so enthralling, emotional, and captivating.
Such a humble man. He deserves everything.
Spent the whole day watching with my dad. We were having so much fun. We were yelling and cheering and giving high fives it was so good. First he makes the hole in one and we went nuts and then when he made the par save on 18 we did some more yelling. What a great day of golf this was. Couldn’t be happier for this guy. I wish him nothing but the best in his life. Btw he’s back next week. He got an exemption invite.
Michael Block inspired me to go to PGA of America school. Lives were changed today and it’s thanks to Michael Block and the sport of golf.
Good luck
I hope you do make it one day Eric. Keep grinding buddy. I'm 45 and I also dream to play in the PGA. Just my life is too complicated right now.
This man is the definition of great things happen to great people, congrats Michael!
I'm still waiting for great things to happen for me. 💩💩💩💩💩😂😂😂
Man, this is why golf is different from other sports and why I love it so much. Huge congrats to Michael Block. Most of the time they can't keep it together on the last day and shoot 80 these club pros. For him to shoot 71 on the final day, must have felt like 65. Love it.
71 at Oak Hill is playing, now.. Helluva round..
Wow, look at all the emotion he's holding back. what a chad. Way to go Michael Block!
Very humble guy while playing some of the best golf of his career. Love to see this.
The guy the golf world needed!
Can't wait to see him at Valhalla next year! Definitely going to give him the support he deserves!
Greatest thing I have seen. So emotional after the round. Love how the fans were pulling for him. Big shout out to Rory too he was amazing as he was playing but totally supporting Block at the end and congratulations after.
NEVER thought I would tear up watching someone come in 15th place in a golf tournament... but I did. Congrats Mr. Block on one of the great feel-good stories of the season!
One of the best things I have seen in a major championship in a very long time. Fans and support for him was just so amazing. So richly deserved. Thank you sir.
Impressive poise from someone that does not perform on this stage regularly. Was a hoot to cheer for him
❤ Michael is a reminder of what’s missing not only in professional golf, be it the PGA or LIV but in every professional sport with his authenticity, love of the game and the fun factor, not only for himself but for the fans. A real breath of fresh air that we were so fortunate to witness and remind us of why we really play the game because it’s not because of the $$$. My opinion of way LIV golf will never make it and the PGA better be careful to not follow with limited fields because diamonds in the rough will never get an opportunity to shine like it did in the past 4 days ❤
Most of these guys wouldn’t have made it here if they didn’t have a genuine love for the game.
"What an incredible Cinderella story, this unknown comes out of nowhere...." Well done, Michael Block.
Oh he's got onto that one!!!
@@ichemepeopleschampion4281 No doubt about it, I had to give the begining of the exact Bill Murray quote. Does Michael's golf swing remind you of Tommy Armour lll ?
@@ichemepeopleschampion4281 "the crowd is standing on their feet" -- I was born 5 days after Bill Murray & have a similar goofy personality.
This is so freaking awesome. I teared up when I watched this live. Just an incredible story. Congrats, Mike!
Watching his emotions throughout this round and that INSANE ace! This man won my heart today
That flop onto the green is such an amazing shot.
If his storied week is NOT an inspiration I don’t know WHAT is! Congratulations Michael Block! Fantastic week my man!
Koepka may have won the PGA, but Block was the star of the show!!!
Facts
Koepka ran into him on his walk to the clubhouse and said to him, "I hear you're buying beers tonight" the camera and sound caught it. So cool.
@@toolrocks10 Thats awesome haha
if something could come close to being as brilliant as that hole in one on 15, a crazy up and down for a top 15, on the 72nd hole, to get into PGA Championship next year, comes about as close as you can get (apart from holing the shot outright). CONGRATS, MUCH RESPECT! ENJOY! (and shoutout to Rory for being so cool and supportive)
This up and down was even more impessive than the dunk hole in one at 15.This guy has game nerves of steel. And he plays fast.Give him his tour card.
The best part is that he looked like he soaked in every single ounce of it for all 4 rounds and it is much deserved
Amazing week for this man.. freakin answered every bell! Can’t wait to see him play next year!
What a tremendous feel good story. During his interview they cut to live shot of his home club. It was packed with people going crazy. He broke down.
A moment he will never forget for the rest of his life. Unbelievable up and down.. not many people who aren’t pga pros would clutch in such a moment ..
What a class act, he SOOOO deserves it!!
Not sure that I’ve had this much fun watching this tournament since Daly at Crooked Stick.
Being from Rochester, this was epic. We love our golf here. This tournament had a bit of everything in it's four day span. Michael Block made this one absolutely unforgettable. Props to an incredibly humble, regular dude, living his life dream to it's fullest.
I love this guy's attitude, such a deserving guy to get a spot.
One of the most incredible up and downs I’ve ever seen in person. Perfectly played
"Tin Cup" live! Congrats Michael! See you at Valhalla next year!!
Guy is a real pro! To make that putt with so much pressure… 🎉🎉
As far as this weekend went, this guy won in everybody's eyes
Michael Block with a week that will live forever in our hearts and minds. He is what we will remember about the 2023 PGA Championship.
Gosh this was awesome! I was rooting so hard for this guy to make top 15, and he made an all world up and down to do it. Just awesome!
NOTHING! was more fun to watch than his terrific showing at the PGA
Its amazing how you never know what the storyline is going to be. If something incredible like this is going to happen over the course of the weekend. The hole in one was unbelievable.
Watching this guy have his moments was the best part of the weekend. So happy for him!
Wow that’s insane that shot
Its Block time!! That up and down was ridiculous 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
Probably one of the best stories of the week.
The best. Period
Take it easy he finished T-15th. Ppl acting like he finished top 5 lol. Let’s just give everyone participation trophies.
@whitemike8778 you do realize this is one of the hardest course they have held a majors at? You probably can't even get close to what he shot on a pitch and putt 😂😂

Proud to say "I was there"!!!!.right under the big tree to the left of the green.First PGA event that has come within an hour of home and my 15 yr old son got me a ticket to go with him from his Jr.PGA coach.Very spectator friendly event and nothing like watching on TV.The Energy from the crowd for ALL competitors was amazing.I think Rory enjoyed playing that round as much as Mike did.
His short game was on fire the whole week. Congrats to Mr Block for an amazing week. You entertained us all!!!!
That "bingo!" always gets me
When Jim nantz calls it “One of the greatest up and downs of all time” you know you have made a mark this weekend
This up and down was even more impessive than the dunk hole in one at 15.This guy has game nerves of steel. And he plays fast.Give him his tour card.
Pretty cool. I am glad he will get to play in the PGA Championship next year.
I'm not big into golf but I got saturated watching all the hole-in-one replays. Goosebump stuff and I love the story. Now I've viewed this video a few times. Crazy as it sounds, I think this was the bigger shot for him. It's under huge duress while he's being crushed by the gallery. Those fans were there to cheer him for sure, but what a pressure shot to hit the green! I can't believe this guy has ever seen such crowds and so close. Boy did he ever deliver!
you just can't help but root for this guy!!!! True inspiration
I literally had tears in my eyes watching his post-round interview!
Now that is a real "Tin Cup" story. Good things happen to nice people. Well done Michael.
Such a wonderful story. A working class guy who played lights out on the world stage. See you next year Michael at Valhalla! I'll be rooting for you.
Hands down the best golf story of the year. So inspirational.
It's insane that he hit that spot with that chip. That is elite level skill and belief.
Absolutely clutch on this up and down. I mean the chip onto the green was perfect, in a need to have it situation to clinch a top 15. Literal ice water in the veins of Michael Block. Holy shit
This is going to be the best episode of Full Swing next season
I love how golf does the top so many get automatic bids next year. It makes so many special moments like this.
Good for him. Was also great to see Justin Rose and then Rory McIlroy openly cheering for him. Great job, was awesome to watch as a golf fan
This up and down, plus the HOLE IN ONE at 15: evidence that momentum is a powerful thing
He single handedly gave me hope to keep pursuing golf
I don't watch golf on TV a whole lot, but Michael Block had me on the edge of my seat several times yesterday, especially at 18, when the ball just seemed like it hesitated for an instant then dropped in the cup. Congratulations Mr. Block and we will see you at Valhalla nex year.
My first PGA event ever attended, and if i never get to another one,i will still have the satisfaction of being there on that day at that time, and many other amazing moments.
The stars aligned for this really good guy. He loves kids and dogs. Will be rooting for him next week
You could also see Rory supporting him as well. That was pretty cool as well & had to give him confidence. He didn't know about his ace until Rory told him. The crowd reaction was something usually reserved for Woods after 1 of his miraculous shots. Really amazing & great to watch him play so well under that kind of pressure. I can only imagine the greeting he got when he walked into his home club. When Koepka congratulated him he said " I heard you're buying the drinks."
What a cool guy. Humility is king!
As a 35 year old that lives in Mission Viejo CA that just started golf 2 days ago, this was the coolest tourney to watch! Hooked!
You got the bug! The itch!
@@Shabla7 I definitely feel it lol
Best part is him having to ask the crowd to quiet down for Rory!! Bet he never thought he would be doing that!
Who needs Tiger Woods to have this gallery go nuts. This is one of the greatest things I have seen in the game of golf, and that spans about near 55 years. Take a bow Michael Block. You deserve it!!
So there's hope for the rest of 40 somethings. Congrats, the most amazing thing in golf I have ever seen
pure magical this was. so happy for him.
It was like watching a golf movie that I would watch again and again. What a final round that was. Historic
When he turned to quiet the crowd I had an instant flashback to Nicklaus doing the same thing for Isao Aoki on the final hole of the1980 US Open.
As they say in dear old Ireland, "T'was brilliant!"
Love this game. So happy for him!!!
Just incredible!
What Dreams Are Made Of!!! Cheers, Michael Block Wish I was At Your 19th Hole!!!
Michael Block is the man!!!
👑CHAMPION🥇🏆
Incredible up and down from there well played Michael good luck for the future too
Wow dying at the hole turning away on the low side and drops...Block had the guts and the golf gods on his side...any easier it turns off any harder it lips out...right after dunking an ace on 15...CONGRATS! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
This guy is so cool-it was awesome to watch this last week. Keep it going sir! What a neat story!
What a legendary performance
and Rory knew (at least for the back nine) exactly what was at stake for his playing partner. he seemed to be as invested in this as Michael himself.
he truly EARNED his 2024 PGA Championship invite (and the two sponsor-exemption invites) he got yesterday.
Yes it was nice to see. Rory didnt let ego in at all.
As a weekend warrior I can only dream, thanks for giving all of us hope
this is what golfs all about , love it
Notice how he was trying to get the crowd to quieten down so Rory could putt out? Respect
He calms down the chants in respect of Rory. Top class.
Has Jim Nance ever rooted for someone like he did Michael before? Very cool.
Jim Nance is the voice of the people!
What a cool dude.. everyone loves an underdog story
Michael has certainly put some excitement back in to golf.
