I’ve studied in Germany for 2 years (as well as in France and the UK), and honestly : no university I’ve studied at was as good as the university of Tuebingen (Baden-Wurttemberg). It‘s one of the oldest german universities, costs literally nothing, has an INCREDIBLE library and the greatest and nicest lecturers. The system is based on the concept of „self work“: you will spend little time in actual seminars/lectures, and are more or less free to study what and when you want, as well as for how long as you want (Bachelors take 3 years on paper, but most students study way longer). And, no worries, most classes have been in English (at least in my case), and even in german seminars, they were very understanding and nice to students who may have had some difficulties with the language.
If you’re looking for the america’s you’re MUCH better off looking at Canada. The states are so much more expensive and because Canada is commonwealth it’s a lot easier for UK students to get visas and funding there. Take a look at UBC and U of T! You would absolutely love Vancouver!

YES college in america is fucking expensive. my sister graduated from her undergrad a year (2 semesters) early and after a few months she was already paying about $800 USD per month, and she got a fair amount of scholarships

Running is really fun but I'd recommend easing into it with a few shorter events - aka a few 10kms, half marathons etc. I ran my first marathon last year after having run consistently for 3 years and trained intensively for 16 weeks in the lead up. The experience form other races and training for them was invaluable during the whole process. What I'd recommend is training for a few shorter events and working towards running another marathon in under 3:45 which would give you a time-based qualification for the London Marathon which in my opinion is a lot more rewarding having that mental and physical build up for a year or so rather than 'just' running it. For unit I'd recommend checking out University of Melbourne. Melbourne is so much nicer (and cheaper) than Sydney to live in (I've lived in both places). It has a vegan quarter close to the city, far better public transport (inner city), a much nicer and easily-navigatable CBD and a uni campus that is a 5 minute walk from the CBD making everything so nice and local. I moved to Melbourne to study and absolutely love it. I've done both my undergrad and postgrad at Melbourne Uni and can't recommend it enough!
You should look at Groningen university, idk if they offer nutrition but it’s a really great city to live in and has a real international vibe, plus it’s only 2 hours away from Amsterdam and only 1hour to Germany :))) I really think you would enjoy studying abroad!!! Xx
Hey Holly, have you considered studying in Heidelberg, Germany? It is such a beautiful city and the university has an excellent reputation!☺️ Otherwise the Berlin Universities are also good and Munich as well (living is costly there)
Oh Holly I imagine you would love the "molecular nutritional science" course in Stuttgart Hohenheim, Germany. The Hohenheimer nutritionists are great and Germany would be very happy to welcome you🇩🇪❤️
You should deffinitly look into getting your masters in canada! The application process is known to be much less bias then the us, plus education is MUCH cheaper. We have beautiful scenery here that you would easily be able to travel to! The campuses are also amazing. Love from canada!🍁
I posted on a previous video as well but look into Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm! It’s one of the top medical universities in the world and there is NO tuition for European students. They have a masters in nutrition. I think you’d really like Stockholm as well. It’s very active city with lots of water and nature and outdoor activities all year round (according to the weather). Just a tip! Good luck with planning 😊
Hey Holly, I think you are aware of this. But just to make sure, applying to places like cornell is just like cambridge kind of a crapshoot. So if you are considering applying there, I would highly recommend applying to more than just one school to greater your changes of admission. In term of academics you couldn't be at a better spot
In Germany studying is really affordable & if you choose a uni where you study in Englisch it’s maybe more useful for working in the uk but you will also learn German when you take a German class and dance in a group where everyone will speak German
The marathon plan is totoally doable! I think I pretty much run as much as you do and four years ago I signed up for a half-marathon without training, and it went pretty smoothly. However, proper training is definitely necessary since you could easily get injured if you don't have enough prepration.
Hey holly ! I just realized that the both of us share the same birthday ! And I'm so happy to know that because I can relate to so many things like the live for biology , travelling, learning new languages and dance and making decisions. You are so inspiring Lots of love from India
Hi Holly! I have previously studied a BSc in public health nutrition and now I am continuing on with an MSc in Applied sports nutrition! I think that if you did want to practice nutrition following your course you should only look for courses in the UK as regulations in the US and EU are completely different which may affect your ability to practice here. Also if you are looking for a course you should look for one that is affiliated with the Association for Nutritionist (AfN). Most public health nutrition courses will touch base on epidemiology and nutritional disease and diet-related factors which you can then specialise your dissertation project around :) Hope this helps
If you want to learn German anyway: Germany and Austria have free unis. University is completely free here (for EU students I think, other fees are generally very low).
Yes definitely come to Germany! I have also always wanted to run a marathon too (currently working up from 10k to half marathon). I love this video because I can relate so much about wanting to travel and get out of my comfort zone. Can't wait to see what you do next!!!
If you need funding for a US masters you can apply for an assistantship probably in teaching if you don't want to do research. For an MPH it's usually two years. I did my undergrad at George Washington University in Washington, DC and they have a really good public health and epidemiology program but a private university will be much more expensive than a public one such as the University of Maryland which is also a good school for public health and near by DC. The DC vegan scene is great and it's a great city to be a student in as there are free museums and tons of things to do!
If you didn’t want the added stress of raising a certain amount of money for the London marathon, Manchester is also in April and a big city marathon. You can still raise money for it but won’t have to raise a certain amount if you get a public place. I’m training for a marathon in November and am following one of Ben Parkes’ plans. He’s got s youtube channel and really inspiring (although runs hella fast)
The wanting to study in the US struggle is so real with funding and the best unis are the ones with the best scholarship packages! I’m definitely going to need back up applications for courses elsewhere in the world which I feel is gonna annoy my reference writers but there we go.
I’m from Belgium and our education here is great! It’s also very inexpensive compared to the UK and USA (still expensive for me lol). We speak four languages here: dutch, french, german and english, although english isn’t an official language of our country, a lot of people know it. If you want to learn more languages, Belgium is like the perfect place haha. Anyways, good luck with your research and i hope that whatever you decide, you’ll be happy :)
If you want to apply to the MS in the US for academic year 20/21 you are already running late for competitive programs as you should submit your GRE grades and all the application documents around November/ early December.
OMG!!!! USYD would be awesome. I'm about to graduate from there!!! In fact I was at Cambridge earlier this year and I think you would really appreciate both the similarities and differences between those experiences. We have a masters of nutrition and dietetics which my friend completed. Our starting time is the last week of February.
Plenty of EU countries offer cutting edge educational plans and besides in many of them education is public (public as in funded by the government since i am not sure it means the same in the UK) which means that anyone with decent decent grades can apply and obtain an scholarship that will cover university fees and other expenses so its definitely something to bear in mind when studying abroad as it can become quite expensive.
Please consider a PhD if you are looking at US programs. For some STEM fields a PhD is worth more than a Masters and they pay you (kinda) to study so you won't be going into more debt.
Colleges in Canada are different than College/University in the US, but we do have Masters programs that require a bachelors. You don't need to only go to University for a masters degree! I'm in Ontario and we got so many colleges with so many masters programs (especially around Toronto). Masters in Colleges get great field placements as well! edit: we call masters, "Graduate Programs" for colleges
Definitely take a look at the University of Rochester in the US! It's super well known and well-regarded in the US, plus has a huge Public Health school for a master's degree. It's also smaller than Cornell, so they are a lot more personal! Good luck on your search!
I can recommend checking Denmark out. The education is free (also uni) and you even get some money from the country! I live here, but Im not danish and I really enjoy it.
I finished A levels and always knew that travelling was gonna be a very important part of my life. As a sort of break from family stuff and hard studying after A levels, and before going straight to Uni, I thought.."Why the fuck shouldn't I go to Australia?!". So I went. And it was the most evolving, challenging, rewarding experience of my life. I packed up a bag and literally just left. I was in Sydney for 6 months travelling from hostel to hostel, which by the way I really encourage you to do, cheapest option but also the place where you will meet lots of people from all over around the world that are doing the same exact thing. Met some of my closest friends that are still now and ended up renting a house with them over there. Then decided that I wasn't done with seeing the world yet so I left alone for New Zealand and then Bali. I'm now waiting to go to St Mary's, Twickenham, in September. Honestly Holly, do it. It will change you forever.
Like where do you get the money from to travel for 6 months alone? Are your parents paying for this because this could come to a crazy amount! Also my parents would never allow me to go away for 1 week, not to mention 6 months!
@@leilaponziani7141 How much did it like cost you overall? I'm a senior this year too and I feel like I haven't done any extracurriculars and have never travelled anywhere outside the middle east, so I reallly need something like this
@@rawanmamdouh7345 it sort of depends where you are going. Regarding Australia the biggest price was to get the visa and flights etc. When you get there you should be fine as long as you're working!
If you are considering the US for graduate school...Don’t underestimate public schools here. Places like Univeristy of Michigan, UCLA, etc. are regarded as just as good as the ivies here in the US (sometimes even more well regarded, as students at ivies have a stereotype of being pretentious). They can also be cheaper than private universities. I don’t know anything about specific programs though :) can’t wait to follow your journey :)
Maybe you should also consider some universities in Scandinavia/The Nordic countries! I think our way of life would suit you plus if you learn either Danish, Swedish or Norwegian, you'll be able to understand all of them somewhat as they are similar, so that's three languages with one stone. The only hurdle is that we speak English very well, but we respect if you'd rather try your hand at Danish (or Swedish or Norwegian), but you might need to let people know because they will speak English on instinct to help you out :)
I'm hoping to go abroad for my masters too, once I finish this degree. Hopefully Germany or Austria, or somewhere in Scandinavia/Nordics. Tbh though it's always baffled me as to why people want to go to the US for anything XD
I'm from Germany studying biomedical engineering and life sciences in Korea. I've never attended a German university but as far as I know it's incredibly cheap. I think Korea is also an interesting country to study in but I generally wouldn't recommend universities in Asia if you've attended college in the west before, just because the teaching style is very different.
Yasssss....solo travelling...that's kinda my dream...but chances of fulfilling that dream is rare for me..😞nd....I m really missing ur study wd me...vids...anyways...luv from India
I’m a Vegan and I guess most of Vegan people are kinda interested in Nutritions cause they’re generally more aware of how food is effecting them and their body , and I personally love to know more about Nutritions and may help people out 😃
Leipzig (Germany)is a beautiful (not expensive (220€ per semester including tickets for busses and trains)) uni and Leipzig is also really great for vegan people.
Hey Holly! I'm in very similar situation with my life now because I will finish my bachelor in january and probably will start my masters in setpember 2020 (also considering going to Germany). But still don't know what to do in the meantime. Perhaps travelling as well, but don't know where to. Anyway, thank you for this video, it inspired me so much! Also, would really love to run a marathon (or half marathon 😁)
There’s some amazing universities in Canada and you could also do it Montreal or Ottawa and learn French and the culture is similar to France so you get the European vibe but also the American vibe.
Come to Vienna, it has the highest standard of living in the world! (I think, or at least it's at the very top :) Edit: The hospital is also the biggest in Europe, I study medicine there and it is very multi cultural, studying costs 20€ per semester, so it is very cheap.
Hi Holly! Have you looked at universities in Canada? We have some great universities and Canada is such a beautiful and wonderful place to live and study! Just a thought to consider when you are researching different universities:) Greetings from Canada🇨🇦
Hey Holly! This has been soo helpful thank you! I am literally in the same position at the moment and trying to eliminate that post graduation blues and keeping busy! I ran a marathon just as I turned 18 and OMG it was hard work. I am a dancer myself and even though I am and was back then extremely fit and healthy it really took a lot out of me. Biggest advice if you're going to go for it... make sure you stick to your training. You need to be able to run further than 26 miles. Also how did you get into tutoring because I really want to get into that but not sure how to get started? xxxx
it is so great that we have so many things in common dance and biology but i am only in yr 9 so any tips for gcse's?? and also you are so inspiring and productive i am always procrastinating and getting distracted.
Im sure there are research opportunities that focus on diet, disease, and nutrition. There are tons of research opportunities outside of basic science research so I think that would be cool to look into. My college has research opportunities having to do with nutrition and public health!

Xx
El110899 Same for Wageningen University
Hey Holly, have you considered studying in Heidelberg, Germany? It is such a beautiful city and the university has an excellent reputation!☺️ Otherwise the Berlin Universities are also good and Munich as well (living is costly there)
Hohenheim is also an idea!
I live in Germany and I agree
Heidelberg is also known for their medical department
And Tübingen
Oh Holly I imagine you would love the "molecular nutritional science" course in Stuttgart Hohenheim, Germany. The Hohenheimer nutritionists are great and Germany would be very happy to welcome you🇩🇪❤️
Hi, I’m from Andorra, I’m 20 now and when I was 19 I ran a mountain marathon and you will enjoy it for sure!!!!!
You should deffinitly look into getting your masters in canada! The application process is known to be much less bias then the us, plus education is MUCH cheaper. We have beautiful scenery here that you would easily be able to travel to! The campuses are also amazing.
Love from canada!🍁
Leah Johnstone: Holly finished top in her year at Cambridge. I don’t suppose she is too concerned about bias in entry.
I run half marathons, I think it's the perfect distance, and i don't really have the urge to run a full. Halfs are enough toll on my body for now.
Im a Nutritional science student holly and think that you are a perfect fit for this field. Seriously all the best
Hey Holly, I think you are aware of this. But just to make sure, applying to places like cornell is just like cambridge kind of a crapshoot. So if you are considering applying there, I would highly recommend applying to more than just one school to greater your changes of admission. In term of academics you couldn't be at a better spot
please can I get a copy of this calendar template :)
As an organisational nerd, I loved this video! Enjoy all your trips and good luck for the future ❤️
You are so inspiring
Lots of love from India
Holly, I studied in Germany for two years and it was great, I totally recommend it! Patience and time with the language! :)
I run marathons all the time! I got started by just picking one and signing up. youll never do it if you havent already committed in my experience
Yes definitely come to Germany!
I have also always wanted to run a marathon too (currently working up from 10k to half marathon). I love this video because I can relate so much about wanting to travel and get out of my comfort zone. Can't wait to see what you do next!!!
I'm a half German student at the University of Loughborough AHH so exciting you are thinking to learn German !
I’m definitely going to need back up applications for courses elsewhere in the world which I feel is gonna annoy my reference writers but there we go.
u don’t even know how excited I am for your future videos
This is great holly . All the best
Funny how holly wasn't sure about the marathon and now she runs so many xD
You are awesome Holly!
Heidelberg in Germany is a really beautiful city, with a really good university
Viele Grüße aus Deutschland :)
[greetings from germany:)]
Please consider a PhD if you are looking at US programs. For some STEM fields a PhD is worth more than a Masters and they pay you (kinda) to study so you won't be going into more debt.
Holly, stop planning and let life surprise you! Enjoy yourself without being worried about the future!
LOVEEE YOU❤️❤️❤️
I can recommend checking Denmark out. The education is free (also uni) and you even get some money from the country! I live here, but Im not danish and I really enjoy it.
And yeees gut health is sooo important! We barely know anything about the brain gut connection or how it deeply affects our whole immune system👍
Loved this video! Which calendar did you use? x
what app did you use to do the planning???
Lynn瑞典仔 it looks just like a word document tbh
yes, just a word document haha! nothing fancy!
Holly Gabrielle Can you show us how you did it please? I’ve been trying to accomplish it lol
Hey Holly can you do a video on how your created your calendar please??
McGill university, Canada. You could learn french in Montreal also :o
@@rawanmamdouh7345 nop, I paid for myself all the way through! Just worked a lot!
@@leilaponziani7141 That's amazing! Did you work during your summer vacations?
@@leilaponziani7141 How much did it like cost you overall? I'm a senior this year too and I feel like I haven't done any extracurriculars and have never travelled anywhere outside the middle east, so I reallly need something like this
@@rawanmamdouh7345 it sort of depends where you are going. Regarding Australia the biggest price was to get the visa and flights etc. When you get there you should be fine as long as you're working!
How much does it cost to be tutored and do you go to peoples houses (cuz I live in Kent)?
Oh, and also the duration of your Master degree in those countries will usually be two years, but it is pretty cheap (if not free) to study there.
I'm hoping to go abroad for my masters too, once I finish this degree. Hopefully Germany or Austria, or somewhere in Scandinavia/Nordics. Tbh though it's always baffled me as to why people want to go to the US for anything XD
Cuz American unis are the best. Why do you think most of the technology you use come from States? Grow a brain, moron.
What's the name of the calendar software?? Really interested
I'm from Germany studying biomedical engineering and life sciences in Korea. I've never attended a German university but as far as I know it's incredibly cheap. I think Korea is also an interesting country to study in but I generally wouldn't recommend universities in Asia if you've attended college in the west before, just because the teaching style is very different.
uhhh holly! as an austrian i am really looking forward to hearing your german😍😍😍
There’s some amazing universities in Canada and you could also do it Montreal or Ottawa and learn French and the culture is similar to France so you get the European vibe but also the American vibe.
wOw a living walking inspiration !! always tryna channel ur energy bb
University of Ghent in Belgium is one of the top universities! In Belgium we speak Dutch, French and German so you could learn 3 languages ;)
Come to Vienna, it has the highest standard of living in the world! (I think, or at least it's at the very top :)
Edit: The hospital is also the biggest in Europe, I study medicine there and it is very multi cultural, studying costs 20€ per semester, so it is very cheap.
Hi Holly! Have you looked at universities in Canada? We have some great universities and Canada is such a beautiful and wonderful place to live and study! Just a thought to consider when you are researching different universities:)
Greetings from Canada🇨🇦
Jacob Kim definitely going to consider 😆😆😆
Also how did you get into tutoring because I really want to get into that but not sure how to get started?
xxxx
The video starts at 1:35.
it is so great that we have so many things in common dance and biology but i am only in yr 9 so any tips for gcse's?? and also you are so inspiring and productive i am always procrastinating and getting distracted.
Im sure there are research opportunities that focus on diet, disease, and nutrition. There are tons of research opportunities outside of basic science research so I think that would be cool to look into. My college has research opportunities having to do with nutrition and public health!
This is so motivating for me as a small youtuber 🥰🥰🥰🤩
I love your content 😍
@@randomstranger8081 thnx I try my best 😁
*Love you soooooo much!*
Keep it up Holly!
Hey Holly! I love your organization.... What calendar did you use? Thank u so much!
Im styuding Food Science and Technology and the subjects about public health and related to that were really interesting for me!!
