She did a live talk right after the release, and said that the vocals were recorded in 2017 when she wrote the song and they are the first recording of them. She said that she loved the first recording so they called it done, and just kept it. But she said that she wasn't ready personally to release it then, but the virus got in the way so the shot this video during lock down, her and her two sisters made all the costumes in less than a week, the two dancers are her best friends that live nearby. She said the empty seats are because this isn't a show, it is how she feels, there is no one watch.
Oh, and she plays harp so that is what you are hearing.

She also directed the video....all the costumes and set pieces were handmade by her and her team....she made the pearl headpiece herself after hand stripping every old pearl on various pieces of clothing.
actually, costumes were made by her and her sisters and those dancers in the video were her friends. :)
The shell was also a borrowed prop from a theatre.

An awesome fact about this song: Aurora recorded all of this in one take. These vocals are exactly as they were the first time she recorded it all in the studio. No retakes. She wanted to keep it as pure as possible. I think it makes this song all the more lovely and vulnerable.

No, the version from.the Current is much better! It's much more subtle, the words are easier to understand and you can really see her emotional investment as she sings the song.

She recorded it in 2017 the voice and the guitar. They used the recording from 2017 and with her team and sisters, put the hole thing together on this time of quarantine! just love her voice and message.
It all connects! No wonder why Aurora's voice sounds a bit different in the song lol. I was like "Wow she's using her voice differently, we stan a multidimensional queen" 😂👀💀

IMO "It happened Quiet" from Nidarosdomen sound to me not relaxed and with some uncertainties, she probably felt the place too much. I consider the one of Live at The Current ua-cam.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/v-deo.html her best version - ok it's a studio version, but there she perform very comfortable, much more than Nidarosdomen and this is perceived immediately. Not secondary, she's filmed superlatively well, fantastic close-ups.

The visual idea is clearly the painting "The birth of Venus", by Italian renaissance painter Sandro Bottichelli - And why not ? There might be a tuch of renaissance in Aurora too :) The birth of Venus, the goddess of love, tok place in a giant scallop

Right after the release of the music she did a livestream singing live from her room that was awesome! But, she talked about the song and say that the entire song is from her DEMO VOCALS because she wanted to keep the feelings and imperfections from the first time, this is magical.

This new single is HEAVENLY, but, it's nothing like her past music, so don't take it as a reference xDDD I think you should check A different kind of human, it happened quiet, Apple Tree, The seed, I went too far....I mean, all of her music is amazing so, pretty much, whatever you chose will be great xD

Billie Eilish and Pomme (a great French singer/composer) both say that they got inspired to become singers and write songs after they heard Aurora.

What is interesting about this song, is that Aurora in a stream tell that the vocal and gitar is the first recording she did of it, together with Magnuson gitar, just as a demo. But she didnt want to replace neither of those because, as she said: music isnt about perfection, but about catching the emotions. And if you listen to her stream she performs the song live playing the piano, and she doesnt have the "perfect" internet connection, that it even makes the song better, sound like its recorded in the 30´s. This was great! I discovered Aurora about a month ago and I am LOVING her music. I agree with you - Exist for Love had a retro '40's feel - sight and sounds, as well as visuals. You will find she is brilliant at visuals. Please review The Seed - for a completely different side of Aurora. Also Queendom, Animal, Gentle Earthquakes, The River, ... pretty much everything really - she is amazing. You are going to have so much fun going through your catalogue!
Lucky she wrote when she was 9, Runaway which she often recommend herself as an introduction to her music she wrote when she was 11 =)

That’s why I love the lyrics, so much because Aurora put so much meaning, emotion, and empathy into writing lyrical songs. Writing lyrical songs are important to making a good song.

The soft EQ and reverb on the backing vocals gives the effect of being underwater, very graceful and tranquil... very Aurora!

“The Seed” gave me CHILLS when I first heard it, but “Queendom” makes me cry happy tears whenever I watch the video. It’s such a lovely, heartwarming song.

Hi Nina. Great reaction! She has a wonderful acoustic set from a few years ago at "NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert". 3 songs with just her and her male guitarist/backup singer in some kind of library setting. It`s great and her voice, expressiveness, and presence are so endearing and adorable. Even if you don't react to it it's a must-watch.

Subscribed. Listen first to Acoustic "5,4,3,2,1 Murder Song". It will be a wonderful juxtaposition for you comming off of this particular song. She has 3 albums out so far and all are simply sublime. Please take your time with her first album "All My Demons Greeting Me As Friends" and move onto her others. She is an absolute faerie goddess that we don't deserve and are blessed to have.

If you haven't already, you should listen to "It Happened Quiet" live from Nidarosdomen.
Nidarosdomen is a very old (and very large) church in her native Norway. She's backed by an orchestra and it's a full concert, but this particular one is the highlight (for me and many others)
Extremey powerful, fantastically beautiful, entrancing. If you do listen to it, please try to use headphones or proper speakers, and recap at the end instead of pausing all the time!
Since you enjoyed her so much, might I recommend Caroline Polachek.
Her debut album, PANG, which came out a few months ago, is a vocal masterclass. Perfection.
Her video reminds me of why I love David Bowie's work - very simple but captivating. Pure talent shines through.

I love all of Auroras songs, but this is not my favourite, but I do like it :) Thank you for all your Aurora reactions, have watched through all of them, and as you stated in your video, the staging of Auroras videoes, especially her Music Video's is thoughtful and wonderful, and often very meaningful. Like in this 40' type of "burlesque", where the opening is inspired by of the world famous picture of botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" (the godess of love). She in an empty theater, with empty seats, cause it was made during covid19, and she made it "cause the world needed a little bit of love right now," she said in an interview.

I really would like u to react to Forgotten Love. The most interesting part of this song is that she sings in her own imaginary language. There's no meaning on those words literally, but emotionally depending how she does it. Im in love with that song.

Yes, this has a retro aspect to it (and definitely references the Botticelli painting, as well as 1930's/40's performances). A very infectious arrangement. In some ways different from her other songs, but nevertheless very Aurora-esque (I find it playing in my mind). I recommend reacting to some of her live performances -- 'The Seed' live at the HAIK Concert (performed in a forest); or perhaps 'It Happened Quiet,' 'Little Boy in the Grass,' or 'Through the Eyes of a Child' at her Christmas concert in a Cathedral (with her band, plus orchestral ensemble and chorus).
Wonderful reaction to a magnificent artist, to me those musical harmonies are wawes of water and the sounds of deep oceans. I look very much foreward to her further exploring and communicating the Element of Water to us mortals, at least I hope thats what she`s doing.
Aaaaand, the vocal track is her original demo track from 2017 when she wrote the song and recorded the demo. So it's new/old. She did a live stream (also on UA-cam) when the video dropped where she explained about the song, the video production - and also played the song for us on her piano. She said that the energy of her intent in the song was best on the demo track, so she did not re-record it for the video. I thought the roaring '20s production vibe was so playful and delightful.
Listen to Step 1: Infections of a different kind and Step 2: A different kind of human. They are both breathtaking and out of this world (Step 1 a little more so in my opinion). Both albums are so much worth your attention.
Please listen to Aurora and Wardruna performing "Helvegen", it is a Norse song and her heritage shines through. It gives me goosebumps!

Thanks for a good reaction. She is by far my fav artist. With Aurora you get the whole package. With a voice like no other and a personality to match. Just a joy to watch. And to think that the audio they used in the video is the first demo recording. She didnt want a "polished" studio version but rather this one. A more raw version. With flaws and all. Although what she means by flaws I really dont know, lol. Its so different from anything else she have made but the Aurora DNA is all over it. I just happend by you-tube at the exact moment it was released and I could't stop listening and watching that night. I tell you, it was heaven. when you said you want to listen with headphones on with your eyes shut, i felt that. thats exactly what ive been doing. honestly makes me quite emotional to listen to this song since this is her first about love i think so. it just gives you that feeling inside, cant really explain it. i also have my bluetooth speaker on in the shower and just sing and go to another place with my eyes shut when i hear this song. legit 10/10 beautiful
