Some metals flex less than others. As an aircraft mechanic I have seen all sorts of alloys. True titanium alloys don't flex under normal conditions. That's what this case needs for footwear.

Wouldn't the price skyrocket (aircraft mechanic, see what I did there? No? I'll see myself out.) if you add titanium alloy to the frame?

@@molnarlevente7309 nice, yes, it would be a considerable price increase, but the folks that buy this kinda thing aren't concerned about that. I was under the impression this case is already in excess of a 1000 bucks. I won't be buying one but I like Jay's videos of stuff like this.

I feel like there should be a 90º connector, like the one you used to adapt the power cables to go up, but have it go down directly into the manifold instead. Then you don't need any cables at all.

The problem is that the connector is too close, I think the power distribution should be a little farther away from the motherboard, and you still need some flexibility to connect both ends.

If you can get the ribbon cable in custom lengths, why not just a little, 1" one that comes out the MB and does a neat 90 ark into the backplate? You can normally do pretty tight bends with ribbon type cables.

For mobos with the edge-facing 24-pin ATX connector, I'd think it would make most sense to have a right angle adapter that would go straight from the power manifold to the mobo ATX without any flexible wires at all. But, I suppose it would only work for the small number of mobos with the 24-pin ATX in the exact right spot.

13:44 @JayzTwoCents You must remember that cables do require a minimum bending radius. A 90Deg bend will create a hotspot in the cable that will result in premature failure. The closure you approach 90, the great the increase in degradation. Each cross section/gauge of cable will have a minimum so there will be a constraint on how much you cable turn your supply cables. If you wanted a strict 90, the PCB route with defined traces maybe the best option (which of course will require precise measurements and be subject to cyclic thermal wear over time).

If you added rubber feet and allowed for enough length in the mounting bolts, you may be able to attach two of those feet fasteners to support the remainder of the chassis. That would remove a lot of flex from the chassis.

The power distribution is interesting. Seasonic has a case, as I'm sure you know, and a power supply that has a power distribution unit, called the Syncro Connect. I'm built with it and really like it. They have a similar unit that will also work with cases other than the Syncro Q704, although finding a place to mount it on the back of many if not most cases is not easy. The idea is much the same. Interestingly though, the Syncro unit also includes a fan and ARGB hub in it.

  • @vertigo6982

Apparently now the back of the mobo panel is tidier than the front with their configuration of the power board. They should put the cable ports on the back of the power board and still use holes with grommets to run the cables through. It would hide all that slack in those cables and look very clean like a regular pc case. Only difference is they have a power board which makes it easier to run cables. The appearance of the cables will still be the same so at least they fixed one hurdle (cable routing issues) with their power board so thats a HUGE plus. No need to have the cables connect on the front. So Daniel needs to either shorten those cables so theyre perfect length, or move the connectors further away to take up the slack and basically make the cables a show piece (with Lian Li Strimer Plus cables of course) which would mean he will have to relocate the distro plate or else the cable will be running over it to get to their port/connector on the other side of it (judging by the length of those cables) ORR he could cut out holes on both sides of the distro plate where the cable will tuck under the distro plate which will illuminate the back of the distro plate with the RGB cables and then pop out on the other side of the distro plate through the other hole and then into its port/connector (or he can just run the cable behind the distro plate to illuminate the plate with the rgb cables through the back and keep them behind the panel and put the connector on the back of the panel(might be the better option here. Depends on if he wants to show the connector/port of the cables).
Honestly he should just keep the panel the way it is and just mount the motherboard on the other side. Run all the cables through holes to their connectors which will now all be on the back. The reservoir should still show on the back right? or is that main reservoir section back black? If its black he should make its so the front and back of that main reservoir area to be clear so you can see it from the back(which will now be the front with my idea).
Two questions since I'm new to watercooling: Why do people put in large reservoirs over small ones? Why are they actually necessary? I read they were just used as a safety net to protect the motor in case coolant evaporates and somehow disappears out of the loop. So Isnt large reservoirs not necessary and that a small one will suffice? Second question: Arent cases made out of metal for the reason of EMI? So a plastic/wood case arent ideal because of this interference. I really like the idea of this case but the EMI kinda keeps me away from wanting one.

the thing Jay is forgetting here is to have shorter cables means there is more of a kink in the wires. more of a kink means more pressure on the connections, pressure on cables means more likely of heat from a short/bad connection. more heat can also lead to a fire. the only way around it would be custom connectors from the case to the motherboard, but adds anouther complication like how would you connect a 24 pin header to both motherboard and case connector with the motherboard already installed by a new system builder who puts the motherboard in first, so think Jay is a little too critical of the length of cables in this.

The black is a limited run of 24 units I believe. Which is really too bad but it’s also a $2100 case

I'd love to watch you put this case together. Not many cases come Ikea style. We don't have many chances to see a case put together from scratch.
