I was trying to make sense of what Morayo was saying when Obiajulu asked a vital question- what do we do with the card? That question needs an answer. There was a time people had the card but did not have the slip and the people with the slip were looking for the card. The last Minister, Pantami all of a sudden changed it and said you don't need the card, that all you need is the slip. Common. All I need is the number. Kenya there has M-Pesa, you can use that number to link many things. it's not rocket science, don't turn us to mumu.
Morayo, I feel your pain. The urge by Nigerians to always compare what goes on in the western world to our situation at home, is a simplistic approach to solving our problems. That is why it has not worked. Our people, our situation, literacy level etc are so different. Many Nigerians believe we can just import all these things including their food, cars, clothing etc. and our country will develop. We must move away from this tendency. Another thing is, it has become difficult to have open discussions. it does not take much t label you a government supporter once you disagree with an opposing view point. The middle class in Nigeria thing they are the only people in the country. Someone said everybody has a phone. Come to my village and I will show you more than half of the people who do not have phones. I must however agree that the proliferation of cards is not helping at all.
They deserve the best and the best of the very best. Even China compared to the U.S. to get where they are today. Don't get me started especially in a country where the U.S. and other Western countries were coming to learn from us in the 60s. what went wrong to that country?
