The finest conductor of all times. His interpretation of music, his warm relationship with the orchestra and choristers was demonstrated in his conducting, all of which touched the hearts, minds and emotions of audiences😂 and those who listened to the music from recordings alike.
What a great man and an amazing life! His contributions to classical music and the humanities are immeasurable! Thank you for posting this documentary!
I love and adore him like Lennie. Karajan and Bernstein were like the south- and north-pole of at least half of my life. An absolute timeless inspiration... both had their lights and shadows :) A rich life simply. Thank you Sirs!
The most respectful conductor ever! All pieces he has conducted are among the most beatiful performed pieces. I believe his tough discipline was his key of success. Every time I Iisten to his conducted pieces, regardless whose piece it is, it is fresh, amusing and genuine to me. Actually he is my benchmark to compare the other conductors. R.I.P my hero!
Jahrhunderts. Er wird nie vergessen werden.

""Karajan became a Nazi in April 1933, in his native Austria, two years before he became music director in Aachen, and that he continued his membership until at least 1944." so not a "perfect life".

There are no other classical music figure who had influence on the people around the world more than Karajan. I'm talking about Karajan LEGACY. It doesn't matter where you're from and what your cultural and social background is. when you want to buy or download classical music from the internet with or without respect to copyright, Most probably you will download one of the Karajan's recordings, even 35 years after his death and that is an achievement! with the highest quality that I myself (as a music lover) can say he was one of the bests (if not the best). He was spreading the classical music around the world with his recordings, contribution to the next generation of conductors and even building new concert halls. all the great conductors after him were helped by him. After Berlin Philharmonie, all the concert halls in the world were built with the same architecture and thats the meaning of influence.
Placed at the core, not only conducting, but also opera production and video production and increased cash flow, therefore productivity as a product to a certain level. It was truly groundbreaking. Even now, no conductor can imitate. Absolutely not.
Maria Franziska von Trapp, the second daughter of the trap family who became the model for the movie "The Sound of Music," faced her childhood at the Mozarteum Conservatory in Salzburg with Karajan, six years older, under the same piano teacher. The fact that it was matched. The common piano teacher, Franz Ledwinka, advised her to "follow Karajan," praising boy Karajan’s diligence for her. Karajan was a study bug along with sports.
6:18 Truth be told, I prefer the sketches for the film of Das Rheingold seem more enduring than the film itself (from a visual point of view. musically it's outstanding of course.)
Ozawa conducted at the evening before. At 13:14 Karajan says: You (the orchestra) have done very well yesterday evenning. Voices from the orchestra: But you have not participated. Karajan: That is the reason it went so well.

I strongly agree. Too bad he and the BPO had a falling out towards the end of Karajan's life.

Excellent! As welcome during a tough day as a hot fudge sundae after a two month diet.

Its wonderful❤
40:45 Apparently his favorite food was aglio e olio. Seem to be legit!
Does anybody know the piece at 36:00?
I am not sure because it is a musical fragment but it seems to be "Pines of Rome" by Respighi.🤔
Interned with him in righties. Total genius and exempted CV of hunanityb
What is the music at 35:56?
Ottorino Respighi - I pini di Roma near the end of 3rd movement
What’s the name of the aria at 17:52?
I don't know the name, but it's from The Magic Flute, the first act
@@lettymatias5572 thanks a lot for response
19:19 that sounds like Mahler's 9th

Amusing to see and hear a young David Rendall whom the subtitles name as "Randell" (sic).

So was Ozawa Karajan's assistant after he was Bernstein's??? Wasnt he already Conductor of the Boston Symphony by then?
Ozawa was a favorite student of Karajan.
Ozawa started in Boston 1973
