@@N0N0111 I can buy it just fine, but nvidia will get no money from me, ever again. What a waste of a company. TNT2, GF3 ultra, Ti4600, 6800GT, 7900GTs, 8800GTs, then they went greedy and I was out. Then I got 4890s and they were amazing along with 5950s, 6950s, 7950s, and 290X. I did get the 980 Ti, b/c Fury couldn't overclock. it was just too poor to justify when 980 Ti OCed like an AMD 7950. But, now, I don't care what they make. Absolute trash company in every way. 5700XT was fine for midrange, now I have 6800XT, which is 100% rock solid for 3 yrs, now.
I can wait till RDNA 5. Games suck, now, anyway. I'm playing 10 yr old stuff lol.

That's the problem for more than a decade now. Many people did not want to buy those true pro card especially the semi pro crowd. Some companies even use geforce instead of quadro/tesla for their workstation solution. Now gamer have to face the consequence when nvidia start pricing their geforce with semi pro in mind. Cheap than true pro card but still more expensive than the "toy price" gamer used to pay for gpu.

Skip the regular 50 launch and wait for the 50 SUPER launch at the end of 2025. Thats when the new VRAM modules will roll out and you will see 50% more VRAM capacity in every SKU. The problem is that the "RTX 5080" (in name only) is actually an RTX 5070 if you look at the leaked specifications. So the "RTX 5070" (in name only) won't actually be a true RTX 5070-that will be the graphics card labeled as "RTX 5080." Typically, a 70-class card has half the shaders and VRAM of the 90-class, and the "RTX 5080" matches this perfectly based on the leaked specs. Nvidia calling the "RTX 5080" a professional-grade graphics card is just a way to make you compare the "RTX 5070" (which will effectively be a 60-class card) with the "RTX 5080" (an RTX 5070 disguised as an RTX 5080). Always check the technical specifications, not just the names, to avoid being misled.

I think a lot still comes down to sales price and timing. A hypothetical B770 might possibly not stand a chance vs _the performance_ of a 5070. But if _4070_ stock start drying up, and that 5070 turns out to be 750-800 bucks - then it's performance or price-perf value becomes irrelevant before it's even out, to 90+% of gamers considering a GPU purchase. Just a little over 2 years ago a(n at-time) current-gen GeForce 80-card was still 699 msrp. Now... Cost of living has gone way up most places the last 2 years, but incomes sure as sh*t haven't doubled even if Nvidia's GPU class prices pretty much have.
So - considering that Nvidia has been winding down a lot of Lovelace production for a while already, and it's looking like it might abandon even the midrange/upper midrange at least in terms of pricing, at least for a while - I think this is a big part of AMD's Radeon play going forth. If so, the threat to Intel's Battlemage / dGPUs is Radeon, not GeForce.

5080 with half of CUDA Cores a Professional GPU? Lol 😂 Even the 5090 will not get the full 192SM and 32Gbps of GDDR7 ! Let's hope they won't hugely cut the L2 Cache either...

Big cache is needed to compensate for lack of bandwidth, if there is enough bandwidth then there is no need for a lot of cache.

@@rattlehead999 Definitely yeah! And the 4090 is definitely bandwidth starved! The L2 Cache cut (72MB vs the original 96MB of AD102) definitely hurts the 4090's performance... and it hurts even more when you know that the L2 Cache transfer speed is about 5TB/s whereas GDDR6X is only about 1TB/s! Also the 4080 & SUPER have 64MB of L2 Cache when they have a lot less CUDA Cores! Nvidia really played it cheap with all its lineup...

I'm sticking to 1080p as long as games allow for it, so I have no use for a 5090 and 2000$ for a GPU is just dumb at this point. Especially when it's going to be a 600W brick.

if intel wants win the gpu game, they have to do it like amd. be low/mid tier for some time to get the steam rolling up. if a B770 will release and they make it to the 4070ish performance they have to market it as rtx 5060/ti competetor and make it like 100 dollars cheaper to get the financing for the celestial gpu's. I guess the intel engeneers need more experience in makin gpu's. Amd and Nvidia are making gpus for a very long time and Intel just released their cards, so they need to see the benefit in the long term simmilar to the change in the cpus
