Hang in there buddy your doing a great job . I'm 72 yrs. Young ,very emotional also . Chris makes you FEEEEL every song. I find tears in my eyes also and I was known for being a strong man. Thanks for listening with me . Dan
That was a beautiful song. Everyone who is older, has lost their loved ones. Some times when you get emotional when you hear songs like this ,it's a good thing.
You're not alone with your emotions. I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face. I can't even put words to just how much I miss my dad, and he's been gone since 2004. Anyway; Happy Father's Day!
I appreciate your openness and raw emotion at the right time. I agree that Chris is a master at crafting his lyrics and conveying his meaning with a minimum of words. I held my breath while listening to this because I am now my Dad's caretaker and he is ready to go. I'm not ready to let go. Thanks for sharing.
My Dad went for the long walk in 1989 and I miss him at the strangest of times. One piece of life advice he always dropped right in there as we grew up was.. "Remember lads you'll be longer dead than you ever were alive so live it".
What a powerful song. I’m sitting here crying my eyes out missing my own Dad. I haven’t listen to much of Chris Stapleton, although he’s going on my list of people to listen more of their music, but this was a very beautiful song. So full of meaning, so full of imagery. Thank you for sharing this song. And I hope that you have a very nice Father’s Day.
Chris Stapleton is a force of nature 😃. Please check out his songs: Tennessee Whiskey, Sometimes I Cry, I Was Wrong, Parachute, Barely Alive (first performed when he was in The Jompson Brothers), and Death Row. When he was in The SteelDrivers he also has a ton of terrific songs, such as If It Hadn't Been for Love, Where Rainbows Never Die, Angel of the Night, The Price, Sticks that Make Thunder, and Midnight Train to Memphis. 😃
I remember when my Father died. I didn't cry... I though something was wrong with me. Then it hit me... This song though, what a beautiful tribute to Daddies...
This is the first time I've heard this song. My father passed away in 1986. And now, in 2020, this song still touched me. And you know what, my friend, that's a good thing.
Lyle Happy Fathers Day! Blessings ❤️💕💖🇺🇸 From Wisconsin Beautiful reaction. Lyle you are human, I love the emotions you have when you react you are so sincere, you express what a lot of others are probably feelings.
Love your honest heart felt reactions. The Lord called my Father home October 13, 1970 I still cried when I heard this song. Keep up the good work. Watching you from the state of Iowa, in the USA🇦🇺🇦🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸
Here's how great a songwriter Stapleton is. He wrote this in about 10 minutes while he was waiting for Morgane to get ready one night, but it just sat around for years. He said that "it got weight after my father passed away." And full marks to Mickey Raphael for the haunting harmonica. He plays that thing like it's pedal steel.
Happy Fathers Day Pat. I knew once you said it that this was going to be a tough song you. You are spot on with the harmonica and the way Chris just goes to the heart .
When my daddy passed away in August 2018, this was the last song we played before they brought his body out of the funeral home to carry to the cemetery.
You're reaction says it all. The song is very powerful, (and reflects how I feel about Dad), but it is at least a little bit comfortable knowing that you can feel the same emotions to a song.
One of the saddest things about reaction videos are those times when the content creator doesnt get the payoff...(aka understand the big moment) .... then there are times LIKE THIS when you get it and RIGHT at the perfect moment. Thank you! Great great vid and great reaction!!! #Perfection
I lost my brother in March. Pat was good enough to do the I am the Highway for me. My brother was like my father, my protector. Its not getting easier.
Lost my father March 26, 2016. I was on vacation on a cruise boat when he went into the hospital. When I did get there he told me that he wanted to go home. I told the nurse to get the doctor to write up orders so we could carry him home. He had lost half of one of his lungs to cancer, had COPD & had developed pneumonia. The day we got him home he stopped talking. The doctor told us not to expect to have him much longer & that he may not even make it home. Day after day passed & he was holding on. I sat with him at night so I asked him what he was waiting on one night. I knew that he knew I would make sure mama was taken care of. I thought about it and I looked him in the eyes and asked him if he was waiting to see my son ? Tears came to his eyes. He was the only person alive I knew he would want to see. My son is a soldier in the US Army. We had been trying to reach him but after getting that reaction from him, I called the American Red Cross on his base. They found him out in the field and sent him home. He got there that Saturday morning around 3am. He sat & spent time with daddy. At 10:14am that same morning daddy left us. I never saw for my own eyes a person holding onto life to see a loved one. But , now I know it’s true. I didn’t see how he was able to make himself breathe until an elder lady told me, “that was all God’s grace.”
Reminds me of so many strong religous men in my life my , My uncles, Reverand's ,but absolutely my Granddad, who lost his wife at 45 and left him with 5 children, he had an extremely hard time during the depression , a coal miner a carpenter, God's minister, an recently my older brother, who's life was taken by someone in Road Rage, a deeply religious man, on his way to visit my Mom and family at Christmas Time............... Buried on the day after Christmas on his oldest son's birthday ! Prayers
I'm so sorry. It's hard for me from May - August. To much loss in between those months. Sending you good vibes. A song by Disturbed helps me a lot. It's called Hold On To Memories. It's really amazing
This song hits hard for me because I almost saw my dad die I saw him shoot himself in the chest with a revolver but it didn't kill by some luck the bullet missed his heart I thank the Lord he's still alive
Guess I worked these backwards Pat... opposite of the order you reacted to them --- LOL but it's all the same. I do get it..... my Dad passed just this March... rough but oddly not. An amazing man he was and still is. He's with Mom now... that was their plan and she passed in 2012. That is the comforting part -- each doesn't suffer or need to fight; all that is over!!! I'm thankful to have had both as long the Lord above seen fit!!!
Here’s a quick interview with Chris and his wife, explaining when he wrote this song. It illustrates his true genius. Sorry for the loss of your Dad. ua-cam.com/video/hoHleHqn1iI/v-deo.html
My Dad has been gone for 32 years, but this song still brings tears. He sang, played the guitar & the harmonica. My job as a little girl was to stand behind him, holding the harmonica to his mouth so he could play them both at the same time. (I still have that harmonica!) Great memories ...
You should listen to Chris's song Up To NO Good Living from his album From A Room Volume 1...It's not so emotional, and I found it rather funny,,but it's great...check it out..

A beautiful, sincere and relatable reaction to one of Chris's many emotional songs! Man's a genius songwriter and singer! Thanks for reacting to it!
Amazing Singer Songwriter Chris Stapleton
Thank you for being transparent, I lost my dad not long ago,
God Bless you brother. You're not the only one he gets to
If this song doesn’t touch your soul you don’t have 1
Beautiful song, reminded me of my mom even more than my dad, she was exactly like that. Thank you for this!
I have to listen to this now because it makes me cry and I want to enjoy it. Once my dad passes I will never be able to listen to it ever again.
God bless brother. I lost my father too and you made me feel like we were sharing this moment. Thank you

To quote DAC from "The Ride": Drifter, can you make folks feel what you feel inside?

Today is Father’s Day. Dads been gone one year and two weeks. Song hit my heart. I remember hearing him pray.....blessing.
Yep, that is the type of voice he has. Gets to us every time.
Chris Stapleton is overwhelmingly the most in touch singer of his time!
My Dad went for the long walk in 1989 and I miss him at the strangest of times. One piece of life advice he always dropped right in there as we grew up was.. "Remember lads you'll be longer dead than you ever were alive so live it".
Owen O'Neill exactly, well said
Wow! Puts thing's in perspective. Thanks for the post.
Day after my Dad's birthday. 3 years gone. This is one of the hardest songs to listen to. I love it though. Happy father's day to you 💙

Thank you, I'm 68, Pop's been gone over 20 years now, but what a song choice, bless your heart, patrol gamer
Friend, you are one of my very favorite reactors. Your emotions are always so authentic and raw. This 65 year old American grandma loves you, dear.
Thank you.
I loved this. Chris seems to sing directly to your heart.
I remember when my Father died. I didn't cry... I though something was wrong with me.

That's the power of Chris Stapleton . He has the power to reach in to your soul and just rip it up. Powerful singer indeed.
I can see your emotional state God bless you
This one got you another subscriber. I cried like a baby, too.
You did good. Love Mr. Stapleton.
Always look forward to one of your video. Thanks for doing this
Morgane's harmonies make this song even more beautiful. Thank you. I needed this today. 3 years ago today we laid my Dad to rest.
Many hugs and blessings to you! I too lost my dad to a tragic car accident when I was 19. I’m now 52 and still miss him everyday! ❤️🙏
I feel you. First time I hear this song I sobbed. I last my father a few years ago also

Sitting here laughing. Not at you but because I'm exactly the same and I was just waiting... great video man.
Man this has Willie Nelson vibes. Getting all choked up.
ShokyReviews that's Mickey Raphael on harmonica. He has been and still is Willies harmonica player to this day. Good ear.
100%! That harmonica sounds straight out of a Willie classic!

In two weeks it will be a year since my Dad died. This song gets harder and harder to listen to as it approaches.
Chris wrote this song in 10-15 minutes while waiting for Morgane to get ready for some function they were going to.
His dad just died. Chris comes from my home town, he was a great talent in school and a great athlete. Good family too.
