beautiful, yet very sad song. beautiful singing voice. very emotional. i love it. i really felt like the puppet was having her heart broken, while chasing him away. even the one actally singing the song and controlling the puppet, i could see the emotion in what she put into the song. i can really see that she really put her heart into performing.
I have seen the part being sang by two other performers and there is no comparison. Mary is the one that has truly conveyed the part, the others only sang a song.
@@littlemikeism I don't think she's overacting at all. I think she just undersells and upstages the puppet. Granted that's why avenue q is such a difficult musical.
The best interpretation of "Fine Fine LIne" I've heard since Avenue Q's opening on Broadway. Mary, you capture the true essence of "Fine Fine Line." An incredible job! Brava!
There's a fine, fine line between a lover, and a friend. There's a fine, fine line between reality, and pretend; And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb. There's a fine, fine line between love, and a waste of time There's a fine, fine line between a fairy tale, and a lie. And there's a fine, fine line between "you're wonderful" and "goodbye". I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime But there's a fine, fine line between love, and a waste of your time And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore. I don't think that you even know what you're looking for. For my own sanity I've got to close the door And walk away... Oh... There's a fine, fine line between together, and not. And there's a fine, fine line between what you wanted, and what you got. You gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime. There's a fine, fine line between love, and a waste of time.
I really like the way you did this song. Your facial expressions were perfect, and you have a beautiful voice. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
I'm giggling because this was the most dramatic rendering I have heard of this piece and it's the only one I've seen with the puppet. Everyone else is singing it so sweetly you don't hear the anger and barely hear the pain.
I would LOVE to either find a full version of the show online somewhere or be able to catch it locally, but neither seems to happen. I love your voice Mary and know all the words to each song in the whole thing. I discovered Avenue Q when I was too young to even know what porn was. And have been singing the songs since. This song always helps me get through rough patches with men.
Trying to learn this song and mix tape for audtions I love the emotion in this and how powerful the lyrics is shows how much Kate has feelings for Princeton xx
Thank you so much, Alison! That's so sweet of you! It's a really wonderful show, isn't it? I think the version at Smithtown PAC has almost the entire show up. I think it was even directed by Rick Lyon. Try checking it out! If you ever make it up to NYC, I'm sure it's going to be running at New World Stages for quite a while longer :)
I totally did a fusion of the puppet and the actor; the puppet was the "character" (the furry monster girl teacher) but I read all the feelings and emotions from the actress. The actress conveys and brings what a real-life Kate Monster would emote and both, puppet and puppeteer, makes the whole character.
dis song is so beautiful. it made me watch it over an over. i might have watched it like 5 times since i watched it da first time. i cried over an over 2, every time i did. it was jus dat good. i couldn't stop watching it an crying.
(Mini band kid rant) that flute was completely out of tune and had absolutely no sense of dynamics. And they could've added SOO many more breath releases instead of chopping it off in the way they did. But despite that flutist... You did a lovely job!! Well done!
yes, it's a shame. The best vocal and artistic performance of this song that I've come across. i wish the flute playing had been better, to match the vocalist.
i looked up Tom Wait's "Time" on utube, becuz of wat u said. an i do see alot of Insperation. da music iz very similer, but da song here, has very diffrent Lyrics.
It’s about 100x better since it’s not just the puppets acting, but in case you need a little help figuring out emotions or something, there’s the people’s faces, who are also doing the acting. You can’t read the puppets face but you can see and understand the puppeteers’ faces. It’s a lot better than the puppet while the person is just in the background. They have to act and focus on the puppet with takes a lot of practice. Good job puppeteers!
She's not very good with the puppet. It's like she's trying to upstage it when she should be bringing it to life. Sure, she has a nice voice, but she's the voice for the puppet.
Finally an alto song in musical theater
Goes up pretty high for an alto song!
Yeah ... echoing a post below, projecting musically while also putting crying stress on your vocal chords is pretty damn impressive.
lookielouE1705 it doesn't hurt till the very next day, I did this song for my school and I felt fine till the next day
The Friendzoned Song; Presented by Avenue Q
Couldn't have worded that better.

Honestly, she was so good, I didn't even pay attention to the puppet :)
She overacts in my opinion.
Overreacts? That’s why she’s such a good actor. Represents the feeling in the best way possible
I see that as a negative. The character is supposed to be the puppet. She's a great singer, but she's a distraction.
@@leahm24 I find it fun to pay attention to both. I see them as a single entity, and you just pay attention to both parts of the entity.
@@littlemikeism I don't think she's overacting at all. I think she just undersells and upstages the puppet. Granted that's why avenue q is such a difficult musical.
I cannot imagine a better rendition. How she cries and sings so concurrently just blows me away.

My right ear enjoyed this
and then my left ear did
Sounds like you need new earbuds.
The ammount of times I've watched this video is unhealthy. I think I'm in love.
I keep coming back to this video because it's one of the best versions of this song I've heard.
I'm giggling because this was the most dramatic rendering I have heard of this piece and it's the only one I've seen with the puppet. Everyone else is singing it so sweetly you don't hear the anger and barely hear the pain.
Is it just me or does the women playing Kate, kinda look like Mamrie Heart?
jesus christ she does.
I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME. I know, she really does!!
I thought that too!!!
She looks like Mamrie Hart, doesn't she?
Héctor Roden exactly what i was thinking XD
omg yes!
Thank God! I thought I was the only one who thought that!
Love this song..it's been the soundtrack of my life since my divorce
My voice teacher suggested this song as I'm looking for new rep to work on this semester, and wow, I am in tears! I think I found a winner!
Yeah this is the same composer who did many of the songs for frozen
Cool
Absolutely amazing puppeteering!! And absolutely amazing singing!! I could feel the emotions of someone's heart breaking
Never heard anything as beautiful as that before in my life. Great Job!!!!
Princeton sounds alot like a kid,god I cant imagine how it sounded in loud as the hell you want XD
How much I love this song !
I love your emotions in this version!
This was amazing, I’ve never seen the show but had heard a couple of songs. This performance makes me want to change that. 😃
Saw this a couple of weeks ago at my local theatre absolutely loved it
She's an amazing mixer!!!!

Never expected to tear up from this. Great job! Felt that

I can feel her emotions. She is really really good 👌🏼👌🏼
Wow you Guys are really good! So sad but awesome
This was absolutely amazing! Wonderful job! I love your interpretation the best, and your crying was perfectly on cue!
she was breathtaking. usually I always looked at Kate but Mary was too amazing
Thank you so much, Alison! That's so sweet of you! It's a really wonderful show, isn't it? I think the version at Smithtown PAC has almost the entire show up. i felt that the puppet was a distracting piece and i was completely focused on Mary!
I was looking at Mary the whole time too but I didn't think the puppet was distracting.
I totally did a fusion of the puppet and the actor; the puppet was the "character" (the furry monster girl teacher) but I read all the feelings and emotions from the actress.

The scene before the song got me in tears-
your interpretation is so on point, and you're not nasal. go you!!!
Wonderful performance!
Great song x
So emotional!
Holy hell, you made me tear up. Emotional, powerful, and awesome.
Listening on repeat!! 😊💜
Shes had such an amazing voice!!
This is perfect!!!!!!
You have to watch this twice. . . once for Mary and once for the puppet! Brilliant performance!
Oh my god sensational! I’m a MT student and can’t imagine me singing and controlling the puppet at the same time damn😂
(Mini band kid rant) that flute was completely out of tune and had absolutely no sense of dynamics. And they could've added SOO many more breath releases instead of chopping it off in the way they did.

wow flute expert..............so glad you shared. there's a fine fine line.......
I didn’t even realise
yes, it's a shame.
The best vocal and artistic performance of this song that I've come across.
i wish the flute playing had been better, to match the vocalist.
I've never felt genuine emotion towards/from a puppet before. I'm really glad I found this.
Thank you so much! It's a fantastic song, I absolutely agree :)
Oh....my.....gosh. Awesome!
I'm crying damn it! Over the TOP !!!
Don't know who that is but thank you!!
This is awesome!
Thank you so much! :)
This was so good... you are amazing!
Wow, you're really good! 😃 The way you sang with so much emotion, absolutely beautiful! 😉
Oh my god her face is so expressive.
Dayum! I don't know what their deal was, but if I was in that audience I'd be cheering like crazy! :-D
Gives me the chills
Thank you! :)
FANTASTIC!!!
OMG you are awesome!
So goooood
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you :)
Ok so this is my new friendzone song ...
so emotional... :'(
You killed it
Thank you so much. That's very kind of you! :)
Does anyone else notice a more than casual similarity between this song and Tom Wait's "Time"?
i looked up Tom Wait's "Time" on utube, becuz of wat u said. an i do see alot of Insperation. da music iz very similer, but da song here, has very diffrent Lyrics.
My fav version
too True girl... too true.
Thank you so much! You're so sweet :)
Lol, 1) great song/singing 2) I too thought it was Mamrie ...
the actress who plays kate looks so much like mamrie hart
Rocket RileyAnne YASSS
Bloody hell you're good Mary. 10/10!
Your so good that i forgot that the puppet was there

Is that Mamrie Hart?
This some kinda blindsided me when I first saw Avenue Q. With all the jokes and silliness this song was heartfelt and sad. It took me by surprise.
So frikin true
What is the name of this amazing actress? Anyone know?
Haha, thank you so much!
This is my life
Best Kate monster
There's another song in AvenueQ !?!?!!?
Oh god, that’s so sad!
Just recently got friendzoned and this song has never been more accurate.
where was this filmed .?
Does anyone know if there's a full version of the show with Mary in online? By far the best Kate Monster
awesome! but doesn`t she remind you of mamere hart? (spelled wrong) But anyways, AMAZING PERFROMANCE

I like this, it makes me look more at you than the creepy puppet....I hate puppets. Beautiful singing and acting helps. :)
An ex girlfriend dedicated those lyrics to me, hurt me so bad
I got sent this as well, it hurt.
BELT IT OUT SIS
An open letter to the actress who played Kate monster... Come black to Wichita.
O o f.
Poor Kate. i'll be her boyfriend.
She's not very good with the puppet. It's like she's trying to upstage it when she should be bringing it to life. Sure, she has a nice voice, but she's the voice for the puppet.
fuzzycublb she just has such rich expression that a puppet cannot even come close to conveying.
killlllllled it
