I absolutely love to create wildlife videos like this where I take you with me, into the field, almost on my shoulder. This type of content is the most fun, but it's also incredibly difficult to make! If you like this style of video, and would like to see more, then please let me know in the Comments. If you want to learn about my experiences photographing Roe Deer with the more affordable Canon M50 watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/zLM-ryGVdgg/v-deo.html
This has been my main project for the last 2 months. It's been up and down, as I expected, but I've learnt so much. I'll be making a video all about the process and what I've learnt along the way
Hi Paul, I must say great videos about wildlife photography. Photographing Roe Deer is one of my passions as well, I have been photographing them for at least 15y now. I would like to give you some advise if you like to sneak up on them. It's a great idea to wear a balacava (real tree print), these deer might not have the greatest of eyesight but they are very capable of seeing the difference in contrast between your face and your green (darker) clothing. I always wear mine when I'm out in the field and what I also tend to wear are thin gloves for the same reason. This camouflage clothing also protects my face and hands against mosquitos ;-) Kind Regards and keep up the good work, cheers Johan
Paul, I really like the in the field videos. Why you set up in certain location. Wind, Sun, exposure settings. This type of content is helping me get better in the field. Some content creators are always teaching from behind a desk. Those are ok, but I so enjoy being “on your shoulder”. Thanks for helping me get better in the field!
I really don't want to teach from behind a desk! It's ok for some tutorials but my aim is to provide the tutorial content whilst in the field - I think this is better, but as you can imagine.. it's tough to do with wildlife! Please feel free to make any suggestions for future videos.
Gorgeous Roe Buck great video. Have you notices they lick there nose from time to time to clean the sensors usually if they are a little suspicious.. they also Bob there heads as though feeding and then suddenly look up. Really crafty is mr and Mrs Roe .
More of these would be great. Some more detail on your approach, and how about foxes and badgers too. Did you use a fold up chair to sit and wait? No camouflage other than buff clothing?
Top drawer , Bagged 4 tonight one was a young buck .. play fighting a log . then appeared back dropped for a rest walked back around to get some from the top of his position
I'm pretty sure he knew you were there all the time. This is because throughout he had his ears pointed towards you. Roe deer ears can point in any direction, including backwards. They can also be positioned independently i.e. one pointing forwards and the other backwards. You can tell where their attention is directed from the direction of their ears. I know all the books say smell is their primary sense, but I think that's mistaken. You know when they are absolutely not bothered about you and don't see you as any sort of threat, because they will point one or even both ears away from you. It is approaching the Roe rut now, which is around July. Keep working with them and they will get increasingly habituated to you.
Thanks Stephen. Yes, it's fascinating watching their ears, often flicking around. I definitely need to pay more attention to this. I notice too when they lick their nose, as this one did - this I believe is to heighten their sense of smell and might indicate they are suspicious. Thanks again for your input.
@@PaulMiguelPhotography ha ha, you should always sing to roe deer, I heard Balshy Chops trying to instigate a deer rap with you at Natures Rest in your last video, you ignored the poor chap! 😉👍
Beautiful roe deer and the video friend.
Absolutely excellent to watch amazing credit to you Paul 👏👏👏

Right up my street Paul. Wildlife is all about intimacy and privilege and thanks to your videos we're very much with you. Brilliant
Hi Nigel. I very much appreciate your comments. It was indeed a privilege to spend time with this beautiful animal. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Cool. Thanks for sharing and glad you had this wonderful experience.
I just love your nature photography videos 🎶
A wonderful video. I love their white rumps. Not an easy animal to photograph. You really did well.

Yep, absolutely they do. I notice this now. And also their ears may flick too. They are very, very canny creatures.
More of these would be great. Some more detail on your approach, and how about foxes and badgers too. Did you use a fold up chair to sit and wait? No camouflage other than buff clothing?
Thank you. You've found out my secret.. yes a fold up chair. I don't use camouflage - I think it's better to try and get them at least tolerant to you
Great video Paul, what a lovely wildlife encounter. All the best, Steve.
Cheers Steve. Was very exciting!
Great video
Much appreciatd.

Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always, what part of the UK it's that beautiful place?
Thank you. It is near Leeds, West Yorkshire. A lot farmland but also wild flower meadows. Looks beautiful right now.
@@PaulMiguelPhotography thanks so much for the reply, love all your videos, rewards from New York city 👍🤗

my best combo is 400 DO mk2 and 5D sR-
The 400DO With 1,4 extender i as sharp as the 500 and 1,4extender-
Interesting. Thank you. I sometimes wonder about the 400 f/4 DO.
I keep repeating other parts 📸
