No surprise that Brahmins can only see flaw in Ambedkar. They waited only 10 mins to start discussing flaw in him. Dalit community should feel proud on the fact that the discussion didn’t get started with flaws just because you worshipped him and made him God. Never ever listen to people claiming flaw in Baba saheb Ambedkar ideology. He was truly the biggest icon of the world of 20th century. Its very difficult to come near him.
I don't think Dr Ambedkar was wrong/too harsh about Hinduism or about Gandhi, it's personal bias of Mr Tharoor (him being a congress leader) that's preventing him from seeing where Dr Ambedkar was coming from.
Experiencing caste based prejudices and discrimination throughout not only his life but also from the people and community he grew up in, from their experiences that he saw first hand, and living it, I'd have to say that he was not wrong/too harsh.
Blame the people who created it and glorified it not the ones who criticized it.
I would say ambedkar wasn't wrong if the same thing isn't available in Buddhism . But buddism is anti women and even as per buddha he can only be born in brahman and khatriya family only so yes, it is casteist too now the question is did he read buddism because it's wat more casteist

Buddha didn't believe in afterlife has said nothing about it further more he has females students his own wife is one such stundent.his female students were headed by one of his seniors stundent Ananda. Emperor Ashoka daughter sanghamitra was a Buddhist monk,Bodhidharma spiritual teacher is a Buddhist female monk. Saint manimegalai was Buddhist monk from chola country.These rumours or you can say superstition belief was started by a Brahmin converted Buddhist monk Nagarjuna who divided Buddhism into two with the help of emperor kanishka. They started this discrimination practice of not allowing women to be monk.

I went to the top floor. Babasaheb was sleeping. I gently lifted him up and said, “Babasaheb Gandhiji has been murdered.” Babasaheb remained speechless for five minutes and then said, “Even his enemies would not want such a brutal killing of him.” What a bitter truth in his statement. Apart from this, Dr. Ambedkar went to see the dead body of Gandhiji at Birla House on 31st January and he was very disturbed to see it. The next day Dr. Ambedkar also participated in the funeral procession for a short distance. On next day he went to the cremation site at Rajghat.
Dr Ambedkar's personal and political life if you check ,you can understand how pure he was.. Gandhi don!t deserve the title Mahathma. It is a bitter truth, his scriptures are evidence to that.

The host is clearly biased and likes to exaggerate. Ambedkar was justifiably unhappy with Gandhi, but he did not have "rage "as the host claims, and Shashi being a congress party good old man cannot help but defend his idol, Gandhi. The biases are so obvious, and they can criticize a man who is no longer alive to totally put them in their places. It really bothers me when Shashi and other Gandhi acolytes like him can just write a book about him in a misrepresenting way.

Congress leaders usually won't fully support Dr Ambedkar, because he exposed many times the other side of Gandhi who support caste system etc. Dr Ambedkar doesn't need anybodies justice or support. His life was pure. He will be remembered always!
Shashi actually had the gall to write and give speeches about the tolerance of Hinduism. The only religion that by doctrine does not even tolerate its own. He claimed that Hinduism is tolerant because it adopted a lot of different practices. He completely ignores the fact that Hinduism persecuted without mercy when it had the power, and hijacked when it could not persecute and mass murder. What he calls acceptance should be rightfully called hijack, because it would bring practices within the fold of Brahmanism by completely rewriting the history of local religions and writing overnight genealogies to completely change the face of all local religions and taking credit for them. This ranges from yoga to Vaishnavism. There are living examples of this. If Buddhism had not spread out of India, we would all just believe the lie that the Buddha was a Hindu and a reincarnation of Vishnu. Amazingly, in India the orthodox Hindu still makes this claim without a cent of shame on their face, despite the fact that there was no Hinduism at the time of the Buddha, nor did the Buddha and Mahavir or any other Sramana accept the Vedas. They even claimed it to be completely devoid of any spiritual significance. To be a Hindu you have to accept two things besides being born into the religion, and that is the final authority of the Vedas and the abominable caste system and all of its ritual pollution practices. History and doctrine are the irrefutable evidence of this.

Ambedkar was not all of a bitter mind. He even married a brahmina woman. He was intellectual in his criticism not the foul non-intellectual bickering of others.
Hindu reform is too slow, many other prominent dalit intellectuals too felt the best path was to reject Hinduism altogether. But average man wants God, he is not the revolutionary intellectual at all. So a few well informed dalit biggies rejecting Hindu faith is not going to make much difference in the small towns and villlages.
Now, as far as the privileged Hindu is concerned, he is proud that his religion has merit better than most newer religions, he feels it is something that gives him peace and unique stature. He will prefer a slow reform.
Dalits need to have a religion that does not subscribe to the hierarchy but is as exemplary as the positives of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jain, Sikhism. Not every Dalit can live without God and religion. The elite logical dalits wants better economy and income, they see poverty as the purpose or consequence of caste based order, how do we change the lives of these unwanted people?
Today, there are big businessmen from dalit and backward communities, they turn a blind to the suffering of the others of his community. We need to inculcate social consciousness in the average dalit, he needs a sensitivity to see the circumstantial disadvantage of his brothers. He needs to work for benefit of all. Education and better income can help them to attain human stature.

I personally think that the there was not enough research done on the perspective how casteism affected the economy of India then and also now. The businesses were thriving then also only difference was that they were governed by the British and Indians were workers. Dr Ambedkar fought against this mentality of "division of labourers and not division of labour". Also, the then dominant community was too mentally and physically resistant to accept the oppressed classes as a human beings, so there is no question on understanding the nuances of the religion. The Pune pact was modified so that Mr Gandhi stayed alive not because of some feeling of surrendering.
Also, if you look at the timeline when he studied in America, Americans were open-minded then and they too had the blacks as their slaves. So thinking that his perspective was influenced because of him studying in American doesn't fit.

I disagree with Shashi that British created communal divide. India was already divided on caste and communal lines even before the British came. In fact Ambedkar would not have studied in the schools without the British education system and their social policies. Even his father was able work in the British army. Ambedkar did turn down proposals to include "socialist" and "secular" in the preamble. Ambedkar's bias towards S.C.s dominated his patriotism. He started political party "Scheduled Castes Federation of India" in 1952 and contested through out the country. Why STs and BCs would support such party. Even SCs did not vote him totally. His party got just 2.38% of votes. Would you consider him constitutionally knowledgeable, advocate of equality?

Both Raghav Bahl and Shashi Tharoor could not understand what Dr.Ambedkar said.
