Bought one of these after watching your review. I got three top kits like you. I used Preston duraslip 17 for general commercial carp. I used it this Saturday and got a good few carp and bream both at top 2 plus 2 and top 2 plus 3 down the margin. It handled the carp I caught up to 8lb with ease. In fact I can’t see me getting my map 401 out unless I’m going to fish past 8 metres. The power tops are same with the exception that the margin pole comes with competition 1 top kits and my 401 came with competition 2 top kits. Great review glad you told me about the 3 tops or I may not have ordered the pole. Top tip; if you order from AD and do only get 2 top kits and are not happy with this, take the pole to your nearest AD for a refund, you do not need any reason to give it back other than you don’t like it when ordering online. Used mine for three matches now and love it, I’m super confident about pulling lumps out of the margin using duraslip 17, also use it for the top two and two line. I can’t see a dearer pole being better than this at top kit plus two line and 8.5m line or margin. 3 power tops 👍 too. So now with my 401 together I have 6 power top 2s and 3 match top 2s. Iv just ordered this as I only fish 8m anyway so thought I'd see what it's like. Says 2 top kits so not sure if this fella was just lucky! Hoping iv not made the wrong choice. I currently have drennan 8m red range but this looks a lot thinner and heard good think about tks topkits. All tks topkits can be interchanged I'm told.
I had the red range as well and this is by far thinner and lighter . I may have been lucky with the three top kits but a few other people who ordered also got three so who knows. Fingers crossed for you. Also yes all TKS top kits interchange across the range and if you sacrifice a bit of length then using this with a shallow f1 kit is also worth it. 🎣🎣
@@fishingbitesandbanter293 mine should be turning up in the next day or so.. can't wait to have a look.. the red range is quite thick towards the back end wich didn't bother me too much but I'm hoping this is even sturdier than that.. plus I like the fact I'd I get a 13m map 101 down the line my topkits will interchange. @@fishingbitesandbanter293 I got 3 topkits aswel.. strange because 2 came in tubes then I got a top 1 in a tube and the other bit in the pole.. the top 1 was in a tube aswel wich seems strange. Anyway 3 topkits so real pleased.
@@leafysfishing same as how mine came. Makes it a complete money saver. If you imagine 50 quid plus per top kit then the rest of the pole has cost less than a top kit. 🎣🎣 Many heavy lumps and elastic pulling with it .💪
Glad you like the vid. Not a lot to choose between them but will say the edge monster has the ability to go to 10m and is strong as an ox. But can't say I've even come close to damaging a section of the map margin either .
@@davidtaylor6961 hey! I got a MAP M20 margin pole. It was on a really, really great deal. In the end I was told that the MAP M20 was much better pole than edge monster. Better carbon etc. I don’t know if that’s true. My thinking with it being more expensive RRP as and when I decide to upgrade should get a better price… maybe? I bought it online, so did not have a waggle pre-purchase. If you can I would recommend try any pole before you buy, but it’s not easy. Down my way no pole alleys. So I took a chance. Overall I’m pretty happy.
Lucky to get 3 x topkits, mine came with 2...but defo a good lightweight margin pole, equally suited to silver fish and a good companion to my 201 as like you say uses the TKS system.. So topkits are interchangeable. Sensas topkits fit too as i have some match kits.
Tried it out for bream and carp as a test the other day and was well impressed. Fished it up to full length and it was perfectly fine and landed bream to 4lb and carp to double figures with ease and control. Didn't know that the senses kits fit. That's great to know .
I have a map 401 3 match kits plus 3 power kits. I thought I would get a power margin to potentially save me snapping my 401 I bought a power margin pole same as this review. Do you think the power kits you get with the 301/401 are as strong as the margin power kits, so I could use them all in the margin pole. By the way I got three top kits in the pole too. Funny that they don’t advertise this properly as I think they’d sell more of these if people knew they were getting three top kits. I'd say all the kits are the same if not similar in strength across the range although I'm not sure if it changes from a V 1 to a V 3.. Also I was very surprised with the third top kit included but certainly happy about it. And thanks for the comments . Will do my best to get some margin vids soon. I've had some good days with it so far. 🎣
Im thinking of getting a map tks 8.5 metre margin with 3 top kit. or 10 metres preston edge monster, can you still get an extension for map pole & which one would you recommend.
Hi. I couldn't see the extension anywhere but if it's available I'd call a tackle shop that supplies the pole and ask. It would be well worth it. I have used it once and fished at full length all day with ease and was very surprised at how well it handles for the price. Even had carp to doubles no problem .

Quick question is the power top kit a 2 piece kit? Meaning does it breakdown into 2 sections. Doing my margin pole research I’ve seen some power kits that are shorter and only one complete section. Thanks.

There is no extension for the map tks margin pole id say the Preston is the better buy if your wanting the extra distance . And strength.
In the catalogue it says you can get a 1.6m extension for this pole but I can't seem to see it anywhere? I'm debating wich new margin pole to get 😐

The power carp kits are a two piece kit. You can get big bore kits but I'm not sure if they are 1 or two piece. I believe two piece.
