    The striped skateboard wood makes a cool accent. Thanks for sharing your projects.

    What a cliffhanger! Looking great though and I think it's a great idea to do a bit more justice to your work by making a proper recording. Im looking forward!

      thanks man. I'd love to do it more often, but as I always say, I'm not a "youtuber" and it's difficult to allot more time than I already do to making these vids. lol.

    Hey, Tim. I wanted to say that although I am not always a fan of your specific visual style of building, I am a huge fan of what you do. I learn so much from your builds, and your overall design mentality. I have done lots of repair and modification to my many instruments over the years, but I have always had a hankering to build my own from scratch, and I will definitely be stealing a lot from you and Gitara Maker; I'm really considering buying some SqWAYre Tools as well.

    The skateboard ply pickup looks great. Has a slight psychedelic rock vibe to it. I can image an S-type with three single coils in that style, with hidden magnets too (I know that it'd change the output of the pickups slightly, but might be worth it for the aesthetics. Also looks like a good material for the pickguard, maybe more wear resistant than the plastic that's normally used (and gets scratched instantly by a pick)

      I have to keep it a little thicker than plastic or metal to keep it strong, that's the only downside, but there's enough resin in there where I can get it pretty thin.

    Your work just gets better and better! Noticed the fret boo-boo on the last video-oops-it happens to us all … anyway the solution looks great!

    could you raise the metal part of the wax pot slightly and squish it so its more oval to fit your pickups in.

    These are both coming along nicely. Taking any bets on how long until you can't stand the goofed up fret markers and make a new neck? 😁 Love to see Ben's skateboard glueups as accents here. He's definitely my favorite in that medium. Looking forward to hearing these bad boys. Thanks for sharing!

      Well, Ive been playing it quite a bit and the positions I scuffed up and didn't properly refinish are turning a nice shade of gray already. I think time and my workshop dirty paws will solve it for me naturally :)

    Hi Tim!
    Have you ever worked with ipe wood? Apparently it's really dense and durable (even more so than ebony) and it's common for decks so you could source off cuts for bridges etc

    • @timsway
      @timsway  6 місяців тому

      yes I have. It's a nightmare! lol But real good for fingerboards, etc. I once got a whole truckload of cumaru from a deck that was torn down (very similar, some ipe boards were mixed in with it). Some of my earliest guitars were all cumaru (and a lot of furniture I made then).

    3:16 What's with the lines in the guitar face? Did I miss that? Is that the INSIDE of the closet door?

    • @timsway
      @timsway  6 місяців тому +1

      yes. the inside, where the cardboard was :)
