Have 4 different LionSTEEL fixed blades in progressive sizes... one for every occasion. Love them all!

I wish they would make more larger folders. I use the SR-11 as my back up outdoors knife. 3.7” compound grind blade, integral titanium from lock with the ability to lock it makes virtually a fixed blade. I hope they make a 4”+ version of their new integral because the pocket clips is recessed it into the frame when it’s out of your pocket.

I think if Dave Canterbury wanted a Pacific, he could call CRK and CR would have one at his mailbox the next day, for free. Canterbury doesn’t have a Pacific because he doesn’t want one.

@@davidkiser5250 my “logic” is that CRK would bend over backwards for Canterbury. And for someone of his stature and platform, CRK would for sure give him a $375 knife that costs them maybe $30 to make.

I like a steeper edge on my knives as well and have done the same thing to alot of my knives. 1095 can take it and when your sharp edge dulls down to a working edge it still stays relatively sharp. I usually go tool heavy so I don't ridiculously thump on my knives. But I've never had a issue with a 18 degree edge.

  • @andrewfournier8817
    @andrewfournier8817 Рік тому +1

It slices fine with the 20 degree grind- especially if you convex it a little with a stone (or worksharp field tool) and a strop. The newer 3d contoured handles and the knife connection replacement handles, I assume, are extremely comfortable.

Bk7 with micarta? It's just one of those knives you have to hold. It's like holding a leg bone with the joint or knob to hold and chop with no fear of losing it. 1095 cro-van, full exposed pommel, handle is straight not curved. Sheath is blah but solid enough and the pocket is great for a Leatherman 300 to make a nice package. Esee wins on the sheath and micarta not costing extra, but I don't think I've ever seen you talk about the Esee 6 rival. The thumb ramp on the Beckers was designed for your thumb to go on front half of ramp for fine work. Stay safe.

You need to try the Fallkniven A1 or A1x, I have yet to find a better survival knife. Just over 6”, true convex grind, 90* spine, and comfortable handle. The sheath is pretty good too.

I don't find jimping useful so I always doubt the 'outdoor experience' of people who put jimping on knives. I'm not a big fan of the term 'survival knife' but to me it should be a 'one tool option' so it must replace and ax or hatchet. For this I prefer a high saber grind or even a high scandi grind. Convex will work too.

I like ESEE knives, owning an Izula II, 3, 4, Junglas and Junglas II.
I obviously like these knives, especially with their lifetime warranty and relatively low cost, but they are not perfect.
The biggest issues that I have with them is the lack of sharpened spines, which was remedied.
Since all of these knives were purchased prior to ESEE 3D scales, they all have scales from TKC.
I also don't care for their finishes, so I removed it and forced a patina on all of them.
Even with these personal "issues" I do recommend them, along with Mora knives in all of my classes.

Funny you posted this video right now. I just posted in one of your other videos that I found a Pacific and pulled the trigger on it. Ya, it was a lot of coin but I think I found the survival knife I have been looking for. The ESEE was a close 2nd/3rd on my list.

Weird - I ordered an Esee 6 in venom green with the neon green and black G10 scales. I like the look of that color and it is something different so that is the one I wanted. Didn't hurt my feelings that it cost less than the other color combos. Anyhow, it arrived four days ago and the WEIRD part is that I just had it out comparing it to my RAT 7 with standard micarta scales and a more common color combo. I literally put them away, picked up my cell phone, opened UA-cam and this was the first video that came up.
One thing I noticed during my informal comparison was that, in my hands, the 'blocky' scales of the RAT 7 don't feel much different than the contoured scales on the Esee 6. One annoying thing is that one of the screws in the G10 falls right where it could cause a minor hotspot (probably won't but I did notice it) whereas the screws in the RAT 7 are pretty well flush with the flat scales. I also noticed that, when choking up and using the choil, the RAT 7 FEELS lighter even though it is slightly longer and is the same thickness, etc. I think this may be because the little extra blade balances the weight of the handles a little better at the choil. The fit and finish on my example of the RAT 7 (a sampling of one) is every bit as good as the Esee and it came with the same level of factory sharpness. I haven't used it a lot so it will be interesting to see if it holds the edge as long as the Esee in the long term.
Don't get me wrong - this is my first Esee but won't be my last. I already have plans for a venom green Izula II and, yeah, I will use them even though it will eventually wear the cool green coating off.
As for RAT knives, I have the RAT 7 and the RAT 5. I had the 5, before, and a 3 but those were stolen along with several, other knives. I had made a leather sheath for the RAT 5 which was stolen with it so I still have the original (old style) sheath that has a small pouch. I came to realize how much I really liked/missed the RAT 5 so I replaced it. My RAT 5 is in the old style factory sheath, for now, because I like it better than the new style sheath that came with my new one. My RAT 7 has the pouch style sheath, too. I will probably, eventually, replace the RAT 3 and get an RTAK 2.
Anyhow, what I am saying is I'm glad I got the Esee 6 and will get more Esee knives but if I had never gotten it I think the RAT 7 would serve my needs every bit as well.

I really find it amusing when someone tells you how great a knife is yet nothing he shows has any marks of use. The logic that real survivalist don’t own a CRK knife because it’s to expensive is beyond ridiculous. Guess it never crossed his mind that it’s not a real wilderness survival knife. The CRK is a combat utility knife that is nothing but overpriced jewelry.
