Howdy, I just experienced total hearing loss last week in my left ear. I’m 64 and what a change to my life! I’m still on cortisone treatment to see if my natural hearing comes back but I’m not hopeful. I have spent considerable time looking at next options so I wanted to let you know I greatly appreciate the updates you have provided with your cochlear device. Please keep posting your progress reports, thank you again!

Thank you for your post and I’m very sorry you had to experience this loss. Just a week ago I experienced sudden sensorineural hearing loss in my left ear and I am now completely deaf in that ear. My right ear is functioning very well. I am considering Cochlear implant to address my left ear and based on your video and other research the sound from the implant will be quite different than my good ear.
My main question is, when you are using both ears to listen, when sounds came from the implanted side, do they sound altered or does the functioning ear compensate and provide input to the brain to filter out the “robotic” sound from the implant?

Wow! That is os cool I am in the beginning phase of getting a CI (Cochlear Implant) and I am nervous. I been without hearing in my right ear for a long time I just hope I can hear things like before. I am keeping my expectations low because I don't want to be too disappointed if it doesn't work. But waching your video gives me hope. Thank you for sharing the good and the bad of having the surgery.

You are wise and brave! Wish you the best on the process and that you may recover your hearing in your right ear!

Hi! Very curious how your progress has been with the cochlear so far now that you've had it for almost a year. Thanks!

I had a sudden hearing loss in my right ear in 2020. I now have a hearing aid in my left ear as they discovered I had an undiagnosed moderate hearing loss in that ear which probably pre-existed. I use a CROS device on my right ear to transmit sounds to the hearing aid on my left since I am profoundly deaf on the right. The CROS works ok but I have been considering a CI. I would like to have binaural hearing again and the CROS doesn't work that well in loud environments like conferences, restaurants or parties.. I hadn't heard about the extreme dizziness after surgery. I will be watching your channel for more updates as I make my decision. Thanks!
