after watching this video every time I ride my motor bike I hear this song ........... I tried using my Ipod but the wind drowns it out ..... but still when you listen to Link Wray you never loose the sound it forever burns in your ears and mind !!!!
I agree with you. Such an amazing recording - recorded in 1989. This is basically a loose interpretation of his songs, "Pancho Villa" & 'El Toro.' One of my favs from the great Link Wray.
The first band I was in at 15 , We played some of Link Wrays music. In fact we named our band The Rumbles, after one of his tunes he was very influential to Our Band....
Great photo of the HA (by Bill Ray of Life magazine) at the end. Period-perfect bikes and riders. Great tune! Choppers, the open road, and Link Wray por vida!
And to think, The Wild One was banned in England until somewhere during the early to mid-Sixties. American greasy culture -- por vida! King tone here. Link Wray (RIP)
Thanks for all the great comments on this but I was only learning to put one of these vids together and I threw this up on youtube without a second thought. The fuckin resolution on the pictures is dreadful:(
Great photo by Danny Lyon (Crossing the Ohio) from The Bike Riders. Some other great old bike rider photos are by Bill Ray (for Life magazine) of the Berdoo Chapter of the Hells Angels and The Iron Horsemen on a run (circa 1965).
Your right on the photographer but this is on the Kennedy Bridge going from Louisville,KY across the Ohio river into Jeffersonville IN.This is a Louisville member of the Outlaws MC.
The OUTLAW M.C. member in that famous photo is flying a "Louisville" bottom rocker which would have been the first chapter established outside of Chicago.
Thank you so much - I was just about to ask if that picture was authentic or a movie/recreation clip. It's the coolest thing ever... had I seen it in my early teens, I bet my life would have been different.
Mexico is still plenty cool don't let the media fill you with bad opinions it does have its problems by all means but it still has lots of great things :)
@bakersakter It could well be an original photographic print, especially if it was signed by Lyon in pencil, generally bottom right as those things go. Would have been protected in a glass-fronted frame I expect. Otherwise maybe a poster of it which would have been less valuable. You could follow up by contacting Lyon; he has a website I think.
I like the video, and I like the low-res photos...they give you the feeling of looking at memories from the past...everything doesn't need to be fuckin overdone!...great job

the quality of this recording is much better , bigger sound, alive , details.. and so dynamics.. why youngster gonna listen to electronics/rave/ rubbish thingy?
Once the oldsters of then thought this was a bunch of uncivilised racket too.... The good thing about the old days was that great music would now and then make it to mainstream media. These days the youngsters have to go search for it or be lucky to meet someone who brings them into contact with it. Maybe you should search a bit better and discover what amazing new music people make today.....no offense intended.
Thats the only Way on this Time! Look these fucking Hobby Rockers at the Time to Day. I was to young for the time . i was born 1961. Are when i see the Bikers now....i must sick !!!. The Music and the feelling is in my Soul........thats it!!!!! Sorry mi Bad English ;-)
Every guitarist for the past 50 years was influenced by Link Wray either directly or indirectly. A good handful of filmmakers also.
Truth!
Filamkers? You mean composer?

LInk Wray - a warrior of the spirit till the end.
The volume swells with heavy amp tremolo...the liberal use of the wang bar...the icepick in your ear tone....awesomely greasy art!
Great tune with a great pic of an early 1950s Indian "bob-job" at the start of the vid. Vard "glide" front end, solo seat/pillion pad, and all.
LINK ....YOUR SONGS WILL BE PLAYED FOREVER.....................................................................
FOREVER AND EVER. I will play Link's songs on my guitar until I am dust.
I agree with you. Such an amazing recording - recorded in 1989.
This is basically a loose interpretation of his songs, "Pancho Villa" & 'El Toro.'
One of my favs from the great Link Wray.
Photo at 1:45 is by noted photographer Danny Lyon, a part of his visual essay on Chicago area outlaw bikers, done between 1963 and '67.
Viva Link Wray! Godfather of all things crunching!
The first band I was in at 15 , We played some of Link Wrays music. In fact we named our band The Rumbles, after one of his tunes he was very influential to Our Band....

Is this the same version on Wild Side of the City Lights, or an earlier recording? Maybe it's just the compression, but it sounds a bit different.
