What we've learned from here: -Spore was cooler than itself before its release -The green look to the old spore logo is better than the current one -Spore ain't complete without the Aquatic stage -Spore needs more creature parts -It's probably EA's fault -Will Wright or anyone else should make a better version of the Spore creature creator -SPORE LACKS BIOMES AND CREATURES WITH TENTACLES AND TURTLE SHELLS
It's not like the trailer shows it. There's only 5 stages (2D cell stage, creature stage, tribal stage [kinda terrible imo], city stage, and space stage) there's no epic shots of the cells like it shows, and probably other stuff I didn't see. It did carry out on the terrible graphics though. Overall though I'd say still a good game. Probably watch some playthroughs to get an idea of the real game (There's no real story to spoil soooo...)

Secondly, yes it's normal to make trailers look cooler than the actual game, but this one ACTUALLY has content in the trailer that isn't in the game, so therefore it has false promises that should be addressed before someone buys it, which is what I was trying to do.
A big RIP to the: . Flora Editor . Old cell editor . 3D cell stage . Extra weapons in the vehicle editor . Realistic walking . Actual blood And to anything else that never made it to the game we know and love as Spore.
EA rushed it because the game was gonna be so large, they were going to need new computers for the project, and decided to oversimplify it because at that rate it wouldn't make back anything to cover the costs of making the game. It would take such a toll on devices that most household computers in 2005 wouldn't be able to handle it. Maybe computers today can definitely handle the unstifled content, but at the time it would be impossible for everyone to experience it without a custom computer. It was all about selling the game to a larger demographic through availability. So technically speaking, we were all lucky that it was made for lower quality computers, otherwise a lot of people would be turned off by the idea of having to custom order an expensive computer just to play that EA game they thought looked cool, and it wouldn't have gotten as much traction. Granted, I would have loved the uncut beauty of this game, but knowing the history of it I can only keep saying I wish it were that way.
Even though the game wasn't released as shown here, at least it WAS released. We should be glad we have something other than just another dream game trailer

In the space stage it is meaningless, as in opens up nothing and achieves nothing, to have a huge empire. Have a dozen or two quality systems and you will have enough money to do anything you want. If you could transfer spice over a long distance and store up large amounts then it would make some sense.

Spore is still the absolute best game I’ve ever played and will always be my favourite. I’m still a little sad it didn’t take the direction it was originally going for, but god what I would do for a Spore successor or something close to it. No game really feels the same as Spore

Look up the game "Thrive" It's basically Spore, but scientifically accurate, made by a team of volunteers. It isn't very far right now though, they've only made about a third of the microbe stage, but can already see that it's going to be so much better than Spore
Wander Stribos I've seen it... I would never say that it will be able to compete with spore. Spore had a huge team, and took over ten years to fully develop. Thrive will take AGES with a team that small.

They're getting more programmers, the latest update has removed almost all of the last temporary and ugly solutions to most things (no more compound emitters, actual cells, etc.), so they are expecting more "attention", which will in turn generate more programmers. Yeah, the City stage was something akin to the Simcity gameplay, where you had to develop the cities and had calamities, random events, build roads ect ect. EA ruined everything.

one thing people don't really talk about with this ad is that it is very different from most modern ads most of the modern ones boil down to "lets have the nintendo direct guy describe what you do in the game while some gameplay happens in the background" or it is actually just random stuff from the game stitched together in a trailerish sort of way don't ever really see this anymore... a true treasure

I really want a sequel, even thought the game has its problems I still love it. I think if we could get a sequel or maybe even a spiritual successor that would have everything they originally envisioned would be amazing

It's a shame that they never added anything to do with underwater as shown in the trailer. Shame they'll more than likely never have updates or another game following Spore. It's my favorite game.

Also, EA bought the game and was like "We need to aim this at younger audiences" so they dumbed it down and make the graphics cartoony.

It's basically Spore, but scientifically accurate, made by a team of volunteers. It isn't very far right now though, they've only made about a third of the microbe stage, but can already see that it's going to be so much better than Spore
Wander Stribos I've seen it... I would never say that it will be able to compete with spore. Spore had a huge team, and took over ten years to fully develop. Thrive will take AGES with a team that small.

They're getting more programmers, the latest update has removed almost all of the last temporary and ugly solutions to most things (no more compound emitters, actual cells, etc.), so they are expecting more "attention", which will in turn generate more programmers. Also, it looks SO MUCH more promising

Maxis isnt closed. They just got absorbed. Now they work as The Sims' DLC making slaves.
@@alvaronavarro4895 I thought about it, it's logical but it doesn't change much practically. If Maxis remained independent, the possibility of an evolution for Spore wouldn't be so remote. It's my opinion.

0:17 - 0:20 | Molecular Stage
0:21 - 0:23 | Cell Stage
0:24 - 0:28 | Aquatic Stage
0:29 - 0:39 | Creature Stage
0:40 - 0:47 | Tribe Stage
0:48 - 0:54 | Civilization Stage / City Stage
0:55 - 1:18 | Space Stage
There was also supposed to be a City stage that explains why there is only 1 dominant species and right after civilization would be the terraforming stage.
Yeah, the City stage was something akin to the Simcity gameplay, where you had to develop the cities and had calamities, random events, build roads ect ect.

This trailer is so awesome. I cry a little every time I think about this game. Why did EA have to get rid of all the things we wanted in the game, then just completely abandon it a year and a half after it's release?
I've read something about this on Wikipedia, it says that originally, there was a "conflict" between the scientist that had this beautiful idea...and the other freaking team called "Cute and embed down"(or just CUTE).

I just realised. We all want a spore 2, right? But EA don't care do they? They took our money for the first spore and now they couldn't care less about us. Unless they see we'd pay even more for a spore 2 game, they probably won't even think about it.

most of the modern ones boil down to "lets have the nintendo direct guy describe what you do in the game while some gameplay happens in the background"

You left out the only stage that could have made 3-dimentional movement in space possible in the Spore universe.
You also left out blood and ragdoll physics.
This is what we wanted, EA. Not the simplified bullshit for kids you forced Will Wright and his team to make(don't get me wrong, the game still cool, but not as cool as the original idea.) Spore deserves a remake.

@@Voun_ The Spore content and stuff Will Wright showed us in the demostrantions from 2005 - 2006. The final version of the game is not truly what Spore was in fact intended to be, it was what they could do, based on their etc limitations and rules EA put

Doesn’t maxis own the sims genre. Like isn’t ea still publishing maxis games. There’s a triple a game due this year or next year from maxis. Wasn’t confirmed to be the sims or simcity. So it could be a 10 year anniversary edition of spore? Prob just taking a piss but it would be cool if they acknowledged the anniversary
Actually, the guy who made Spore quit right after it came out because EA made him water it down. Spore 2 was never going to happen. All we can hope for is a spiritual successor
