- Prof. Dr. Kerstin Mey is the very first woman in Irish history to hold the post of university president.
The life of this art professor from East Berlin has been shaped by political events. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she moved to England and then - after Brexit - to Ireland, where she has headed the University of Limerick (UL) since 2020. The UL cooperates closely with Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) in the fields of European studies, teacher training and sustainability.
In this "Conversation on the State of the World," Prof. Dr. Mey talks about the consequences of Brexit for Ireland, Ireland's strong modernization in recent years, and what she perceives as the greatest socio-political challenges to be faced during her ten-year term.
