- Barry Manilow might have turned 80 this year, but he isn't slowing down any time soon! Barry reflects on his long-lasting career, from starting as the "piano-playing mailboy" at CBS to breaking Elvis' record for performing the most live shows in Las Vegas. Barry also dishes on his new holiday special "Barry Manilow's A Very Barry Christmas" airing tonight at 10/9c on NBC, and his mission to get instruments into the hands of high school students through his nonprofit The Manilow Music Project.

Barry came to my hometown of Joplin, Missouri after our horrific and deadly EF5 tornado of 2011. Through his foundation he presented Joplin schools many thousands of dollars worth of musical instruments to replace the ones destroyed. It meant a lot to the students and the city and lifted our spirits.
I have LOVED Barry for 50 years! A musical genius, a moving vocalist, and SO FUNNY, and SO CUTE! ❤
I loved Barry Manilow for years! An old girlfriend took me to his SF concert in 1976 for my 17th birthday. At one point, he said something to the effect of "if this next song resonates with you, come on down the aisle!" No one did. I was sweating because I was sooo there and ready to run down; and my girlfriend was holding me back saying "he's not serious!!" I regret not doing that to this day (and I'm 64!).

I took my teen age daughter to see him 3 times over 6 years. She is now57 years old. Hr still sounds the same but doesnt move as much....but then he's an octogenarian. Let the stage dancers do that while he blesses us with his songs. 🎶❤️

His song of course is why I named my daughter Mandy♥️ and she's amazing. I knew first time I heard Mandy back in the 70's I'd name her Mandy long before I had her. Love you forever Barry and have been a fan for 50 years ♥️♥️♥️

Well we should all look as great as he does and get around as well as he does when hopefully we get to his age👍♥️. I've always loved him and of course like so many moms in the 70's I named my daughter "Mandy"😀♥️👍 loved seeing him on your show Kelly. Just wish you two would have sung together.

I saw his special on TV last week and it was incredible. I liked it so much more than I expected. His energy, his range, his voice is so powerful! Wonderful talent! You can tell he just absolutely loves what he does.
For me, the holidays are not complete until I hear Barry’s “It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve”. I used to stay up late watching Dick Clark’s Rockin New Year’s Eve and whenever he sang that song, it always gave me a good feeling of hope. And I’m a hard rock/metal guy.
Have to admit, he did an amazing job with this show and it brought back fantastic memories of his pop songs from the eighties, etc.. He is still a fantastic artist and singer. 80 years old….really?? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Barry Manilow was my 1st crush at 8 years old. I remember singing his songs over & over under my bed, where I had my record player. My small private play quiet spot I made for myself. I also remember hearing people talk about him being gay and that whole bath house rumor. I defended him as a 3rd grader in love. I said no one like him couldn't love the world more! Gay is happy gay is really happy. Lol

I saw his “Barry on Broadway” show at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles back in the mid 80’s and he sang Sunrise Sunset while accompanying himself on the accordion. One of my most favorite Manilow moments ever.
I looove Barry M. Still have his CDs in my car. Listen to them during autumn time. So relaxing. I feel like curling up on a cosy couch next to a fireplace.

First saw Barry at the NYC Continental Baths. He was playing piano for The Divine Miss M....Several years later saw him when he opened The Pacific Amphitheater south of LA...Was only semi-excitedto be going....However, after 2 songs I was on my feet standing as was most of the audience. He was great! Thank you Barry for decades of outstanding entertainment.

I have absolutely loved Barry for 50 years!! The TV show was excellent last night!! We flew to Vegas some years ago, had Special fabulous seats on the floor, and I knew almost every word. He wasn’t scheduled to sing this, but he sang my favorite song of his, “Weekend In New England”! Even at 69, I sang all the way through the whole Christmas Special, last night. Thank you for 50 years, Barry‼️ I am anxious to see, “Harmony”‼️☺️♥️

In New York I had a conversation with a top producer of yesteryear. He shared that one time he met Barry Manilow sitting on a park bench in a NY city park, all alone. Manilow was clearly depressed. The producer asked him, "What's wrong?" Manilow replied, "Will I ever make it?" - at that time Manilow was just starting to try to break into the business. Of course, the rest is history.
