  • This episode sees Andy checking out the fishing on offer at Nottinghamshire's Aldercar Lane Fishery, with plenty of tips on catching more during the spring months as the fish begin to get ready for spawning. We also say a hello to the lovely Ieva Breiteryte - our new upcoming presenter for fly and game fishing!
    Massive thanks to Pete and Maggie at Aldercar Lane for the excellent hospitality and a great day's fishing, and special thanks to Maggie for the legendary breakfasts!

      I may be biased, but he's one of the nicest blokes in angling imo - funny, friendly, a huge vat of knowledge and genuinely lives for angling

    You’re not selling it to me, like many commercial fisheries, what an awful looking venue.

    • @jamsams

      I agree it's not a pretty place, but if this type of place is going to get more kids fishing because they will catch then I don't care what they look like. More and more kids are sitting on their backsides playing Xbox etc, while fishing shops are closing due to lack of business.
      Any fishing is good FOR fishing these days.

      You have to bear in mind that this was shot at a time of year when "green" is at a premium. Pete and Maggie are fabulous owners, and the site is very much being developed as Andy touched on with the additional lakes. Aside from the amazing cafe, what really stands out is the condition of the fish. It's refreshing to see owners taking pride in their stocks.

      @@jamsams spot on Jay. Pete takes great pride in Aldercar, and that's why it's under a lot of development.

      @@jamsams Indeed, any fishing is better than no fishing. I'm lucky that I've managed to get my youngest son interested in fishing the streams ,small rivers and canals since he was 4,
      but I appreciate that isn't always an option.

    • @jamsams
      @jamsams 5 років тому +1

      @@piscatorialquagswagging keep it up. I grew up fishing a local stream with my grandad for wild brownies and parr and every time I went there would be someone else fishing with their kids. It's sad but you don't see it anymore.
      I had a bit of an argument with my local fishing shop owner. He moaned about commercials and said kids should be out in the rivers and reservoirs. I say get kids fishing wherever they are more likely to catch and let them explore rivers etc later on.

  • @iangoodacre7773

    Is it just me or should you not be using fishery pellets? Or does the fact you are sponsored give you special rights to break the fishery rules?
