      You guys are awesome. Really. I did get the message / invite from FBO. Is there a way I can get in contact with the tower?

    Great video! Keep these how to videos coming! Had my plane a year but still consider myself a new owner and not particularly handy so this is perfect.

    Good video. Just a small tip though, Flip that jug over and it'll pour a little better for you.

    Just my 2 cents, it's a good idea to replace the crush gasket under the plug every time. That will eliminate the drip. I would also recommend an oil sample. That's cheap insurance to have peace of mind you don't have metal floating around the in the oil. Nice 310 !!

      @TheFirePilot  3 роки тому +2

      Joe - Thanks for the comment. We weren't 100% prepared on this one. The oil sample cups had not arrived yet. Plus my safety wire was in a different location. Had to go back and finish those the next day. Thanks again for the comment and all the support you guys have shown. -Sean

    for extra excitement, try to not lose the drain plug when 200 degree oil is lurking behind it.

    Just wanted to say that this video was informative.... I want to change my oil now. Only one little thing you did not cover and it is my biggest fear is how do you put back on the tie for the oil filter? If you get that wrong I would bet it can make a whole lot of other stuff wrong. In any case still a great video like all of your great videos.... They are entertaining and I own and operate a Cessna 310R myself. Great Airplane. So I really like these video's.

    • @TheFirePilot
      @TheFirePilot  3 роки тому +2

      David - changing your oil is definitely something I would suggest doing if you have the time. I didn't show the safety re-wire. I had none at the hangar and I had to get it afterwards and come back. So in the interest of finishing the video, I left that implied. It's really not hard with the right pliers. I will do a follow up to show that soon. Thanks for the comment and the support. I love hearing from you guys. -Sean

    Great information,. I like to change oil early on everything my self. What type and size fire extinguisher do you keep in your plane and do you recommend a smoke hood as well. We never want to use them but better to have and not need... sometimes I overthink the what if’s.
    I like your channel btw. I’m a boat captain for Marathon Petroleum Co. With some of our advanced training I found a whole new respect for firefighters! You guys have a tough job, I salute you 👍🇺🇸

    • @TheFirePilot
      @TheFirePilot  3 роки тому

      Ray - thanks for stopping in and taking a look! I don't pack a smoke hood on the plane with me. Maybe that's irresponsible of me but I think it's a calculated risk. The extinguisher that is on the plane I think is a 5 pound small one that mounts between the front and second row of seats. The guys who fight boat fires have a reallllly unique job unlike any other. In a house fire, we have ways out (windows, floors, walls, etc) on a boat fire - there's no way to break through the steal. I have no experience with that type of operation but it seems interesting. Thanks for the watch. I appreciate your support! -Sean

    Why no safety wire on the drain plug?

    • @billua
      @billua 3 роки тому +3

      Or oil filter apparently...

    • @TheFirePilot
      @TheFirePilot  3 роки тому +2

      Don - I wasn't prepared here. I had my safety wire in a different location so I had to leave that as "implied" in this video. In reality - I had to go back the next day and finish the filter and the plug with safety wire. I did mention in the video that safety wire was important and that we had already wired them back up so. Perhaps we will do a video to show that part of the process specifically. Thanks for the comment. -Sean

    • @TheFirePilot
      @TheFirePilot  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks Bill - we did mention that we wired both back up, but see my comment on Don's comment. We left it implied in the video but should have specifically shown it. -Sean
